    It's not always like this, Xmas eve is always a bonkers day with loads of visitors. I'm on the horse standing by many of the jumps, videoing everyone on my phone. We don't need to be part of the carnage anymore - been there done it. Now my horse is older we're happy to watch and pop round a few when everyone else is out of the way.

      That would be me, too, if I was still jumping and going on hunts. Stay back and wait for the carnage to pass then pop over. Here where I am in the states they would just do drag hunts where I used to ride. So they could control where everyone went and didn’t destroy farm fields. I’m smack in the corn belt. I quit jumping a long time ago. My balance got more precarious as I got through my teenage years when my chest started blooming, now I’m cursed with massive top heavy, so my balance center is way high. And the ground seemed to get just a wee bit harder every year too. Now I just like to sedately ride western. More saddle to hold on to. 😂

      @@tracywilson1356 I have a quick question, and I would really appreciate an answer because there is nobody else I can ask. I am aware that western saddles are very comfortable, but they also seem quite heavy. If I was to get a western saddle, instead of any other saddle, would it's weight make it hard for the horse to go on longer trips out in the terrain, or would the horse be as comfortable as me? (just to clarify, I sat in a western saddle ONE TIME throught my whole life, and that was when I was 5 years old so I cannot really tell how much that saddle could have weight). I would really appreciate an answer.

    • @tracywilson1356
      @tracywilson1356 Рік тому +2

      @@imjusttired9524 western saddle usually weighs in around 30 to 50 pounds. As long as the western saddle is fitted correctly, it isn’t going to cause any hardship to your horse. And there’s more saddle to hold on to for you. More seat. However. There are various types of seats on a western saddle. There’s roping saddles, barrel racing saddles, western pleasure show saddles, trail riding saddles, Arabian western saddles. My saddle is actually a western pleasure show saddle, so it’s not a deep seat necessarily, more of a shallow seat. You’ll just have to try out various styles and see what type of seat is comfortable for you, make sure the saddle tree and bars fit the horse correctly and comfortably, then fit the seat to you around the horse. Always with the horse’s comfort first. You could also try a western style Aussie saddle. They’re a little more like a dressage saddle in my opinion, in their style and cut, but they have a saddle horn and a little more saddle to them then an English, or hornless Aussie saddle. And they’re lighter than a true western saddle when you have to heave it up on a horse that’s taller than you. I’ve never actually ridden in an Aussie saddle, but I’d like to try one out someday. I’m just so used to heaving my western saddle up on my horse that it doesn’t really phase me about the weight. Mine weighs in about 40 pounds.
