You need to hit harbor freight or tractor supply and get a wireless remote for that winch. Also from experience with stuff breaking you shoulda stood them tires up in the front of your truck bed with your babygirl in the back seat. If that winch cable broke or put a toolbox on there and open lid when winching. It would be bad. Ive had a 15,000 pound cable break and it went through my back window and windshield. Imagine if someone woulda been in the truck. Its just safety concern man. Will say im learning alot about buying rides from govplanet. Bout the only thing i havent bought from them yet
I actually have harbor freight wireless winch remotes for both of my trailer winches now. Huge improvement. Good advice about the winch cable, if I'm ever doing any really hard pulling I would do that, stuff like this I'm not even at 10% the WLL on the cable.
When I've picked them up from a base, they have to be hauled, they can't be driven. When I've picked them up from non military locations, they don't care how you get them out of there, as long as you don't damage anything that doesn't belong to you.
So sometimes they are stored at private "storage facilities" which have been everything from the parking lot at a ware house to a grass field in my experiences. Those facilities typically don't care how you get it out of there, drive it, tow it, airlift it, doesn't matter to them. So assuming it runs and drives, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to drive a vehicle home from one of the non military base storage facilities.
Pickup scheduling depends on the area manager, GovPlanet divides the country into areas with an area manager in charge of however many sites in his area, usually after you win an auction they will put you in contact with the area manager to schedule pickup, some are really flexible and will work with you, some won't. Auction fees are typically a % of the sale price, I've seen as low as 5% and as high as 15%. There's also "paperwork fees" on top of the auction fees, if you don't need a title or bill of sale it doesn't cost anything but a bill of sale usually costs an extra $75 or so and a title usually costs another $150+
no problem, seems like all the auctions are getting harder to find good deals on, govplanet, truckplanet, and copart, stuff is selling at higher and higher prices.
@@MohawkMotors you aren’t kidding, 10 year ago I could find deals on Craigslist and flip them in three days for more profit than getting vehicles from Copart! $200 annul membership, broker fees (if you don’t have access to a dealers account), refundable deposit... THEN $500 online action fee...bs $59 gate fee...bs purchase amount %...bs Heres your pile of parts salvage certificate 💩 tow it, fix it, reconstruct the tile, and then try to resell it after for profit. 6 months, 18 cars, 5 friends as decoys, 4 titles per person and I had made $23k all legally without a dealers license. Hard to do that these days.
So my experiences with Iron Planet were decent. They didn't give enough information about picking up the items I purchased, for example if they were in restricted areas that would require security clearance or things like that. But overall it was a decent experience. I've moved away from Iron planet now, they are saturated with buyers which makes it difficult to win lots at a reasonable price in my opinion.
I was hoping for more about bidding, what you look for, and idea of extra costs etc. I hadn't considered the issue of getting on a base, so that was good info, as well as the reason for unloading the vehicle written on it. Audio was tough to follow at some points because you were working so fast. Maybe a mike if you weren't wearing one? I'll check out your other videos, to see if they have what I'm looking for. Thanks
I've honestly moved away from govplanet, it's an open public auction, no requirement to bid other than a credit card, and as a result has gotten completely saturated with bidders, It's been over a year since I've been able to get anything at a reasonable price. In my opinion bidding is also very personal, it ultimately comes down to how much you are willing to spend, and how much you are willing to gamble on what isn't in the listing. the auction fees and other costs are all outlined on govplanet's website.
@@MohawkMotors women will buy something they don’t want if it’s for sale half off. Men will pay double the price for something they really want. I bid like a man.
That was a very informative video. I learned a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. I have been debating bidding. This helps me understand
No problem!
This is valuable information underrated
Thank you!! Glad you found it helpful!
Great video, just like all your videos.
Thank you! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you're enjoying them!
I'd invest in a Cordless Impact Wrench...at Least 18V, Prefer 24V. Help you go through those 8Lug Wheels Faster.
I have one now! Love it!

Great video. If the vehicle is fully operational, can we just drive it off base? Or does it have to be hauled off?

@@MohawkMotors okay sounds good. Thank you for the prompt response!
great video , i always rush doing stuff that needs to be done, seems like you do too, so the baby can stretch.
Yeah. Trying to move with purpose and keep the little one happy.
How much did the other guy bid that you felt was too low? Do those auctions have reserves? Thanks.
I won the auction with a $900 bid, It's not that his bid was too low, it just wasn't as good as my bid. Usually there's no reserve
Can you ever drive those home? If so what would you need to do?

Will they allow you to pick up over the weekend? What are the action fees like? Online auction charge?

Harbor freight sells a wireless winch remote for $30.
Got one for my new trailer and it's worth EVERY PENNY!!!!
Man i wouldnt be without my dewalt half inch gun now - it woulda made your video about half the length lol!
Now that I have one I don't know how I lived without it.

Would u consider putting battery in it
absolutely.
What u ended up doing with the 8.1 suburban
I sold it!
At 41 min and 41 seconds; i see no truck on the trailer
not all the video is in chronological order. good spot.
Informative video. But I will say that the bit loading it onto the trailer had me cringing 😅
I know right. Painful. Back and forth back and forth. I have a cordless winch remote now and it's worth every penny.
Only needed to change the front waste of time
to fit between the fenders you're right, but to have all 4 tires fully on the trailer I needed to do all 4. I wasn't in a big hurry.

thanks for watching!
