I also like this video cause it's clear Michelle is incredibly ripped, but despite that, every sport or exercise she hasn't done before is still hard. A reminder that no physical activity is inherently better than another, just works with different muscle groups and mental endurance.
This is coming from a swimer.Swimming a mile is already difficult, swimming a mile under 45 minutes with no training is very impressive, and swimming a mile with no training in open water under 45 minutes with no training and no goggles is incredible! Great job Michelle!👏👏😎😎
Imagine Michelle's resume: -Professional lifeguard trainee -Police officer trainee -FBI recruit -Olympic figure skater -TV show host -Firefighter recruit And so much more!!! Michelle you are absolutely amazing and you inspire me every single day to pursue my dreams!
I wish they had talked about the fact that panicked drowning people will try to push you down to get themselves above the water. When I originally trained to be a lifeguard they made us practice on very large flailing muscular men, so we could get a real feel for it. They also trained us on how to get out of chokeholds etc when underwater.
I’ve done that training and even doing the training is kind of scary because you can’t always catch your breath and you’re trying to help the person. Their natural instinct is to do anything that can get their head above water even if that means pushing you down. I can’t even imagine doing this with added waves and open ocean
@@amandatown800 Exactly. Natural instinct tells the drowning victim to survive in any way possible, which is why they make the training so hard. I definitely dreaded that part of the training, because it really was difficult to deal with someone who was acting psychotic and get enough air to do the manual labor of helping them and pulling them to shore all while treading water.
@@lauraladyll yeah, it is a lot to handle at once. I was always told that if it comes down to it you have to save yourself first and I’m so glad that I never had to make that decision because I can’t guarantee it would be the smart decision. I’m the type of person that would want to help someone else no matter what it meant for me. Even just training it it was so difficult to listen to the instructions and push them off of me to get my head above water
My instructor told us to grab the victim’s thumbs and pointer fingers and twist if they try to do that to make them stop. Never had to do it and hopefully I never will.

So terrifying, I'm really glad to see that Michelle did this. Being caught in a rip current is insane. I wasn't saved by a lifeguard, I was lucky to have my stepdad who threw me as far as he could and I think I swam for twenty minutes to get to shore? We were so far out it was insane- in such a short amount of time. I think I walked another thirty minutes to get to my mom, I just turned 13. It was so scary. I can't imagine how Michelle felt trying to get to her fiance. I remember openly sobbing while trying to find my mom after getting out of the water.
When I was 10 I got caught in a Riptide and I had to save myself because nobody was around. Swim diagonal and HARD. I'm lucky to have been a state swimmer at that age
This is why i teach what to do if one gets stuck in a rip current to my students during safety day (I'm a lifeguard and swim instructor). Even though we don't live near an ocean I know exactly how it feels to be stuck in a rip current and it can be scary if you don't know what you are doing. But i was glad i remember what they taught us at school and i was able to implement before anything serious happened.

Definitely! I’m an equestrian (hunter jumper) and I think she’d love the sport because men and women are 100% treated equally. Plus, like you said, so many people say it isn’t a sport and that it’s easy; even though it’s one of the most difficult sports!
You should definitely try horse riding. Many people think it's just sitting on the back of a horse and that's it but they've never tried to control a horse. Also with horse riding you create an amazing connection between you and the horse that cannot be explained if you haven't experienced it. You are my inspiration! I love how you are so brave to go out there and to prove that you're capable of doing what others think it's impossible! I wanna be like you! Brave and strong! ❤️❤️
Yes she most definitely should! It’s very challenging, I do eventing. Eventing is one of the most dangerous sports in the world. Everyone say horse riding isn’t a sport. That’s because they’re right.... being an equestrian is so much more than a sport. It is far more physically challenging and especially mentally. They’re is a huge mental Barrier when riding. Getting myself to gallop 30mph on a 1,500 pound beast,(that could kill me any second) at a solid wall taller than my horse is hardest thing that I have done and will ever do. Michelle should definitely give it a try!

This girl is so so impressive. She challenges her self no matter how hard it can be. I am so inspired by Michelle’s drive.
Damn Michelle is literally the living example of “If you set your mind to something, you can achieve anything!”
Wrong. It's more like: "If u live in L.A. and have money, u can do anything".
Could you not be a pessimist pls? Why’d you have to ruin it?
@@SilentAndy u just ruined it
@@SilentAndy she finds opportunities and she takes them. Yes ofcourse her money helps, but this girl worked fro her success. The amount of emotional and physical training she has to go through is literally insane. Even if she had no money, just looking at how strong she is anyone could tell she could make a name for herself just starting from nothing.
And if you have money then why not use it? Shes trying to live her best life, and inspiring people to do the same.
I myself am not rich, however, that does not mean I can not work to be the best person I can be. I dont need money to be physically fit.

I just hope you know how important and impactful what you're doing really is. I've been watching your vids since buzzfeed and it's been the most incredible thing to watch you grow and blossom into the inspiring superhero you've become! 🥰

The production value of this Challenge Accepted is at another level. Once again Michelle you DELIVERED. Thank you for the love and hard work you put into everything you do
I’ve been a lifeguard for three years, this summer will be the start of my fourth, and I really appreciated this. I do however work at a pool instead of the ocean, so I know that these two jobs are very different in a sense, but lifeguarding in general is hard work. As a lifeguard currently I can say that it is very intense. I’m not a beach guard but it is still very important and crazy. Great job with everything Michelle and I can’t wait to see what else you do!
I would love to see you do a “I trained like an equestrian” because I am one and people seem to think it’s a lot easier than it looks! ❤️ love you! 🥺🥰
I love that idea!
Definitely! I’m an equestrian (hunter jumper) and I think she’d love the sport because men and women are 100% treated equally. Plus, like you said, so many people say it isn’t a sport and that it’s easy; even though it’s one of the most difficult sports!
I would cringe so hard
@@voidmc6212 same!! 😂
I've seen people do it and I couldn't imagine people thinking that's easy. It's majorly impressive though!!
Before the pandemic I was taking lessons but now I can’t :(
Yes she most definitely should!
@@ahueby5941 that's so true! I'm an endurance rider and I never thought how difficult it is. Many people ask me " OK but how do you get tired?" and I have to explain that after 30 km ride I'm getting put of breath and my legs start to hurt. I'm still in the begging, this year I went on a 60km race and I couldn't finish it so I hope next year I'll do better. It was hard for me because I trained so hard for this race and I failed, but I kinda like to test my limits.
