I can’t wait until I’m old enough to be a ride operator because at kennywood when there’s a operator who actually moves fast and gets the riders to hurry up the line moves fast, but when there is the lazy teen that you always see that doesn’t try then the line moves slow. When I’m a ride operator I am going to move fast because the job looks fun to me and I love rollercoasters.
I've been watching all of your Asia vlogs and they're amazing. I know they aren't getting too much attention, but I hope that doesn't discourage you guys from making more vlogs because I'll always be looking forward to them ❤
I think it can't be understated the importance of baking fast operations into park culture. Kings Island uses Iroc and all but 4 rides have bins, but they have the fastest OPs of any regional park. They train their employees to prioritize speed and encourage their employees through internal competitions to be fast and efficient especially on peak days. It was a marvel watching the Diamondback crew during haunt trying to break dispatch records. Looked like a Nascar pit crew. They also almost always run every train unless one is out for maintenance. They also reward cross training so key rides can always be properly staffed. Though be warned about visiting on dead days, that's when they cross train.
the operation on voltron are literally the theoratical number because europapark is using the things u mentioned properly great vid(i hope some parks also watch this)
I thought Knotts had terrible ops, until I visited SFDK. 1 train ops + 3-5 min dispatches on Joker/Medusa on a SATURDAY on the FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND is crazy.
You are absolutely right dude. SFDK is unfortunately my home park and they've been one train ops on every ride all season. And I haven't even seen them open all the coasters on the same day. It's maddening!
@@11_credits haha Great America is so much more of a pain to get to for me I've rarely ever gone but I may have to change that. Genuinely couldn't believe how bad the ops are at SFDK. No reason for one train and so many rides being shut down
SFA is infamously known for having one of the worst operations ever recorded. I’ve heard some horror stories of people witnessing 7-10 minute dispatches on Superman and also running one train on everything a few months ago if I can remember.
I think teamwork and friendship between ops is a big factor in getting people to enjoy their job and be motivated to work And yes, guests are the main issue 90% of the time
When I was an OP, I was fast af. Only the people who i've worked with have actually been quick at their ops. I'm hoping after my year off, I can join back and provide quick ops that i've worked for.
I have to give a shout-out to all the team at Europa park for some of the best operations I've seen. Disney and universal level speed while still not having lockers on all rides!
7:13 As a ride host op who's worked on multi train and single train operation coasters. I must say one train isn't good for us either. It's much more boring and causes more complaints from those waiting, which slows things down even more.
From where I'm standing, IROC appears to have about 30 seconds per dispatch where absolutely nothing is happening. You know, for safety. That's after the newbie stuff like don't fit, hat on, kids measured, and then someone decides they don't want to ride.
Voltron has crazy operations, they move train after train and every seat is filled. I waited 20 mins single rider even tho normal line was 70 mins. ( It broke down after 2pm for the whole day )
Lagoon, my local park, has insanely fast dispatch times. The most popular rides are dispatched in 30-40 seconds max. I never paid much attention to how fast this was until I went to cedar point last month!
Home park is Worlds of Fun. There are certain coasters where the ops make me want to scream. Timber Wolf is the absolute worst. They wait until the trains unloading platform is cleared before opening the air gates for the next set of riders. If someone is struggling with a seatbelt, the ops will just stand there and stare at them instead of helping or saying "I'll come back in a sec"
Magic Mountain needs a lot of work to improve operations on coasters and add more trains And what also slows downs lines are skip the line systems like at six flags there’s legacy skip the lines and flash pass people, cedar fair has fast lane plus , and Universal Express all California parks need free double sided lockers
I definitely should have brought this point up because it heavily impacts the lengths of lines. It can honestly be a whole video in of itself just talking about all the different systems.
My local park is Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden. They have started with payed lockers on theire B&M Dive coaster, Valkyria cause visitors use them as a "Normal" locker and not as a locker just when you are riding. The lockers are not in the que so i guess that is a problem. In case it was in the que i think free lockers can be possible. I really hope for free lockers while riding at Liseberg and other parks.
I'm a thoosie who travels around to get everywhere, but I guess that since my home parks are WDW and UO, those are typically my benchmark for what I expect to see. Let's just say that... I'm pretty disappointed usually. But on the bright side, its a lot easier to find ghost town days for the regional parks if you know when to go. Its always a game of whack a mole trying to find slow days at Disney. A slow day at Disney would be a record setting day at a normal park, despite the gates being around the same size. If the regional parks needed lightning pace ops to get through their crowds, they probably would find a way. 100% on the loose article crisis too. For the life of me I can't fathom on any guest would think its acceptable to do anything but walk a few steps and start to secure their safety. I can't understand why people need to bring so much when they're trying to have a good time at a park. I survive with my zipper pockets. I have no clue what possible reason they have for bringing all of their worldly possessions to a park. Weird.
I operate a drop tower, It is quite possibly the easiest thing to operate and iroc is okay but load and go lowers capacity but makes it more effectient, moreover the wave swingers are so annoying to operate to comply w iroc I hate it it takes SO long to check to the point where the target cycle is only 10 cycles
How about drop the seat belts on rides that have other restraints? Take Iron Gwazi. They have to go down the line and check the seatbelts. Then do it all again now with the restraint. Silly waste of time. The belt is only there to make you feel safe. It isn’t actually doing anything.
They are slow. There's no reason to double stack trains when there's 6 people checking restraints (B&M coasters). Mystic double stacks constantly as well. Double stacking is when two trains are sitting on the final brake runs waiting for the one in the station to dispatch.
@alejandrocastrejon4419 I was thinking the same thing when I clicked onto this video. Unfortunately, people rave over Goliath when it isn’t that great in my opinion. It’s not just GP, I think its common among enthusiasts too.
Probably because of the lap bars. It can’t safely dispatch if you pull down your lap bar too early. And someone always pulls it down too early. The lap bars are also so heavy, and everyone struggles to get them up.
What about height checking? Especially when GP Karen moms get upset and start wining about their kid not being tall enough to ride and waste time bullying the poor ride op to get their kid to ride. Like it's their own fault their kid can't ride and they should've checked their child's height at the entrance.
This is a problem that should be handled by the entrance greeter and quickly double checked by the ops on the station platform. I didn’t really give this speil, but I think row assignments really help fill the train to capacity. Then these workers can deal with the Karens and not the ride operators, thought ideally it should be dealt without before even getting into line.
"and all i do is make whiny coaster enthusiast noises when they are bad" (proceeds to show Twisted Colossus)
i feel you on that one 😭

This honestly all depends on staffing. When I went, the operation was decent at best. Diamondback was triple stacking nearly every cycle.
