Agreed. This is a fantastic family game. The thing it's absolutely great for is when you are at your friends for a game night and their kid wants to play for a few games. Kids are surprisingly good at hidden picture puzzles, even young ones. And unlike handing them a controller with the batteries removed, even young kids can have a meaningful impact on the success of a games. For really little kids we didn't give them the actual cards, but beyond that, they pretty much played alongside everyone else. I brought this to my New Years night game session and was shocked that it got more play than any of my new Top 10 2020 games. I can highly recommend.
This looks like a lot of fun! And the best part, I can play it with my kiddos who are now the age where we can now teach them these more complicated games! I love the colorful components and character design, too!
Our family has enjoyed playing this game. A fun mix of a seek and find meets guess who at a fast pace. Within 2 rounds, you will begin naming all the symbols as a short hand for the codex person.
excellent game for co-op, smooth gameplay, pocket sized, real time aspect totally suit the deduction theme creating sense of urgency, totally loved it! Family, friends or strangers all works.
I never agreed more with u Tom, this is a great gamer, a greater game than its predecessors and it works reaaally good with children. Actually I use it in my English lessons from now and then and the kids totally love it.
I have a 6 year old daughter and 7 year old nephew. I've been trying to find games and activities that they find challenging but still fun. We've done some silly role playing games that they love, but we don't always have a 2 hour block of free time. The quick duration of these segments and cooperative gameplay looks like a great way to spend 20 minutes before dinner that isnt staring at a screen.
Personally, 5 minute dungeon is SO different (I really love it too) ... but this is very good, but it plays very differently (which is actually good...shows the developer can innovate!) :)
I always get messed up when weeding out suspects from my hand based on what they DON'T have. My mind wants to tackle that like it's dealing with a double negative.
It's really this simple (and maybe that's the thing :) )... 1. find the clues that match with the codex 2. choose which of the 4 options you want to investigate 3. make deductions and/or accusations or 1. don't find the clues that match the codex 2. draw another card and find those clues (the timer is progressing OMG OMG OMG ;) )
I thoroughly enjoy this game, which I play by myself. However, I do have two questions. First, I find that I don't agree with the answer for the star often. For example, on the scene with the boney creature at the bottom of the two sets of stairs and the star in the bottom right. I think it is the bottom star (light star in the centre) but according to the answer it is the top star i.e. the dark star in the centre. Secondly, sorry a SPOILER, Nancy was an answer for The Case of Double Trouble but she does not have a newspaper that I can see. This clue matched the culprit card coloured code Please advise. M. Jackson
He mentioned it in the 12 games of Christmas Family games from more than 2 months ago. I may or may not have been very "patiently" waiting for this review. :)
It's a really nice game... I like it as a family game... but like it just as much (if not more) as a 2-player game with my VERY observant daughter! We played it recently with a group that wasn't as 'observant'... it was superb. It was then, as a game, it really shone. I guess I normally play with people who are annoyingly good at everything... that's why I lose a lot. It's one of my favourite KS buys to date :)
@@theenthusiast4218 The game is 5-10 mins so you will plenty of changes to see all cards several times. Even if you don't memorize all, you will memorize most locations which makes that part much easier, not to mention that you're actually working with other players who have also memorized it. Having poor memory is not a good requirement for a game mechanic to fully work.

We have this and our 5 year old absolutely loves it. It's really fun, quick and a decent game to bring out before a complex game.
Looks like a good step up from Outfoxed, which my kids like but have outgrown a bit.
Yeah, I agree. I immediately thought of Outfoxed when watching this.
This sounds perfect for me and my little sisters, they enjoy 5 minute dungeon and also deduction games , thanks for the well put together review
This review got me legitimately excited to play this game.

Absolutely: Triangle with stairs; Circle with a crown; Rug; Busy plus... Very good game :)
Got this delivered today! Excited to play! Thanks for the review :)
How is the replayability? Thanks Tom
One of my wife’s and I favorite games of last year. It is amazingly fun.
So where can you buy it? Is this new, I tried looking for it during Christmas after the top 10 review. Amazon has it available in March?

This looks like a great game to play with my daughter. Thanks for the review, Tom!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the game! Thank you for a great review!

Love 5 Minute Dungeon. So easy, anyone can play. Fun family game!!!

Glad no more component drop. It looks hard to re-arrange the components again.
It's super easy to arrange and play :)
The codex part seems really random, why doesnt it connect with the second part about the culprit? Very weird, maybe its more for kids?

I agree with you! I've only played it at one occausion so far but I really like it😍
I felt like Tom already reviewed this? Was this a reposting, or am I remembering the review from the podcast?
I totally felt the same.

Backed this and it's very fun.
Looks cool. Thanks for bringing this game to my attention. Are you going to do a review on Rapa Nui (wrong spelling on my part) I see behind you?
Looks fun! Five Minute Dungeon is also fun.

Hmmm. Is it worth the money to only play a game for 5-10 minutes?
We have played it a lot... and most players will never remember the cards. There is a lot of (silly) replay-ability.
Happy I kickstarted this :)
Nice, been waiting for this review
Sorry but I can't watch with that thumping sound. Is it the camera focusing? :(
Having such a hard time finding the mastermind addition to purchase... any ideas?
I would not say the pictures are not memorizable...
If you can memorize all 32 scenes, where the symbols are, and which symbol it is exactly, then this isn’t the game for your in the first place.

I have a half of mind to unsubscribe do to no components drop.
I DESPISE the component drop and am happy to see them going away from it.
