I breakdown the trailer for episode 2 of Dune Prophecy and give you my theories and predictions for what we might see in the next few episodes. What are your theories and what do you think about the character of Desmond Hart?
Here’s my call; Desmond is a Tlielaxu Face Dancer, working in conjunction with the Ixians. The burning ability is actually technological in nature and is tied to the weird rings he wears that he was fidgeting with in the throne room. The Ixians do not like the repression of technology and, as we all know from the books, they have no problem stepping right up to the line of that OC Bible commandment about not making machines in the image of the mind of man. Ix always is very close to violating the commandment, and the Imperium know it, but turn a blind eye to it because they get a lot of great stuff from Ix. Since this is early on after the Butlerian Jihad, i figure this is Ix and the Bene Tlielax establishing themselves and pushing back against the machinations of the Bene Gesserit.
Looks like Desmond himself is bleeding through his jacket in one scene. Either the Ghola wearing out or the Bene counteracting his power. I think the tech he is using gets repurposed into the pain box the Bene use for testing. Just with all the pain and none of the actual damage.
Aw man what the Hell, I’m watching this video on my TV while I type this comment, and I’m shocked this video doesn’t have at LEAST a hundred comments yet, you have insanely high production value and I’m a new big fan of your channel I also wanted to leave a comment as I was thinking about making a video myself on the theory that the “great darkness” is Leto Atreides II, for starters, the image of the blue eyes in the darkness IMMEDIATELY jumped out at me and look like multiple depictions I’ve seen of Leto’s face almost entirely consumed by his sandworm form, but far more concretely, the God Emperor himself is hands down, far and away, THE biggest tyrant in Dune- a tyrant who almost entirely snuffs out the Bene Gesserit and ANY of it’s control in the universe of Dune, and when talking about the “great darkness”, it/he is referred to as a tyrant who essentially spells doom for the BG, and considering Leto’s reign is multiple thousands of years, and he is likely a massive and extremely important psychic force for any prescient visions, him being described as “a great tyrant of darkness” automatically clicked as obviously Leto II from the BG’s point of view And finally, the title Dune: Prophecy is interesting to me, as in the books, we know that Paul is NOT the Kwisatz Haderach- hence why his reign goes really terribly, but his son, Leto Ii, IS the actual Kwisatz Haderach, of the correct generation the Kwisatz Haderach was supposed to emerge, so if the “Prophecy” of Dune: Prophecy is THE prophecy, it’d be about Leto II, and it would be terrific and classic Dune/prophecy irony for the BG to see a horrifying vision of a multi-thousand year darkness, ruled by a blue eyed tyrant, and- in their hubris, (specifically VALYA’S hubris) decide the solution is to play god with a breeding program that creates the darkness they’re trying to fight I think I could go on if I think hard enough, but I’d really like to share this theory with someone, and would love to hear any thoughts or points you have about this theory, for or against it Either way, great video and great channel man! I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos with my Dad tonight and talking about them, and I’m happy to watch more ❤
Face dancer makes more sense than a ghola. In the canon, Hayt was an experiment as they hadn't yet been able to reawaken past memories in a ghola. My understanding is that they are basically "born" as a blank slate, and, as such, Hayt was trained as a mentat, which surely took time and filled the time gap between Dune and Messiah. This dude appears to have memories and couldn't have been trained so quickly if born as a blank slate. Plus the silver eyes. But, face dancer makes sense. Maybe?
This is what makes me think he's NOT a bene tleilax OR one of their creations (face dancer, ghola, etc), because all of that takes place AFTER Paul, and this show is supposedly only 100 years after the war with the machines, and like 10,000 years BEFORE Paul. I don't know if the Tleilax are even a thing yet, but even if they are, a lot of their advancements haven't happened yet, like you mentioned. Hayt was after paul and he was one of the first face dancer gholas. Although, Skytale, while plotting against Paul DOES talk about a Tleilaxu Kwisatz haderach that was created artificially at some point in the past, and was unkown to the bene gesserit. So, it's possible that Desmond may be at the very least either an early House Atreides with prescience, or an artificially created Kwisatz haderach. Skytale talks about their version having unalived itself because it couldn't handle its power basically.
@@tirkentubeI totally forgot they did experiments to create a KH. This theory would make much more sense. Another idea I thought might be the case is some Fremen find him about to die or something and give him the water of life to as a mercy killing, yet he somehow survives. He becomes prescient enough to anticipate the Bene Gesserit threat, so he goes after them going mad along the way.
I think he is some kind of AI loyalist or mentat (the AI created the first mentats). They would have a reason for wanting to destabilze the empire and the series seems to be emphasizing thier lingering effects on the empire and its beliefs. Additionally, there is no way a biological attack would work against a reverend mother. This leads me to believe that the deaths were caused by technology.
@@EccleezyAvicii he is a mentat (possibly AI controlled). The Tlielaxu werent advanced enough at this point to pull of what you suggest. That level of genetic expertise didnt exist until after Pauls death.
The fact the Desmond is a ghola makes a lot of sense because the Tlelax hate AI technology religiously and they also hate women. Everyone hates the Tlelax so that could account for his behavior being banned from the Corrino historical accounts thus a retroactive reason for him never being mentioned in the books.
no biological attack would work against a reverend mother. There is a technological tie, so theTleilaxu are not involved. My money is on lingering AI influences.
My guess is he's a ghola however they should explain how they could even have this technology. Maybe the ixians regressed technologically and at the moment they are in favor of AI and this guy is something created by the machines and ixians.
Eps 1 was a confusing episode kinda meh too, theres no such thing a psychic power that can burn ppl in books if im not mistaken, cant wait how would they explained it next episode tho
Desmond has no mind burning powers, he’s feeling bad as he watches a child he “poisoned” die edit: ive decided to die on this hill until the show says otherwise, it even fits with some Golas regaining some sort of their past selves, the act of "poisoning" a child is so immoral to the og him it makes his Gola stressed. edit2: i think he was giving the eyes to the emperors truth bene gesserit lady because he was planning how he was going to give someone who might be able to percieve what hes doing the "poison".
@@ericmatteson8888 im using "poison" in a loose sense. he gave them something that made them die, it wasnt mind powers. I suspect its some sort of Genetic virus or some other Tleilaxu shenanigans.
How could people miss it. Desmond appears at the boy accompanied by a drone with a light. When he leaves .. it leaves with him. But .. isn't that an A.I. drone? People only think it was Desmond because he was rubbing his head.
let me just say this, having dead "Dune messiah", the face dancers have to learn about their victims mannerisms before replacing them. so thats unlikely as he was ambushed on arrakis then arrived on selusa secundus shortly after. Same reson for him not being butlerian fanatic. he is likely ghola that has been implanted with tech before his reanimation. in the same way that duncan idaho was given mentat and other skills upoun reanimation. also, you need a body for that to work.
He comes from nowhere and wants to destroy the sisterhood and wants to manipulate the emperor to kill the sisterhood. He could be anything. A cyborg. A robot. An original fremen, A Golah. But my guess is the Tlelaxiu. They detest females and see them as uteruses. The sisterhood sees men as sperm donation. Love it. The extremes are delicious. I do not believe he is an enemy that is not present in the future Dune universe. This seems to be the origin story for how the sisters became aware of a few things. They need to be resistant to poison or sonic waves or implantation of mechanical devices. They need to control the human narrative entirely. They need to manage the breeding program with their own bodies. I would love the ending of this story to be how the sisterhood freed all the Tlelaxu women from being baby farms....and brought them into the sisterhood. This would be why the Tlelaxu become secretive and leave their females unconscious for their entire life cycle. A physically and mentally deficient female would not be able to escape.... but still give birth to many babies. The sisterhood is new and learning new things about their powers. They are not ingesting the amount of spice they need. I believe the sisterhood interacts with the fremen.... and they exchanged knowledge about what a reverend mother is. Why else would the fremen have a reverend mother at all? Maybe the sisterhood gifted them a few of their members to ensure they always had spice and the fremen were safe.
@rubysultra the freman reverend mothers underwent spice agony but weren't actually bene gesserit. The order planted myths to anticipate the arival of their kwizatz haderac.
A poison or even using your telekinetic ability to ‘burn’ someone to the point of embers coming off the skin is one step too far in ‘far fetched’. Stupid. They could have accomplished the same effect without going to stupid gimmick level. Face Dancers can burn people with their mind more and anyone else in the Dune universe.

agree... Ghola doesn't make sense at all. Face dancer carrier of a biological weapon is more likely

The Sorceresses of Rossak could burn people with their minds. They're the only real connection to that ability in the lore.
I suspect that many of those dramatic half-second clips, such as the acolyte burning, are merely visions.
I think Desmond is working for omnius in some way shape or form. Valya sees the need for the kwizach haderach to counter the machine mind threat
He will always and forever be known as Ragnar. Idc what else he’s in
Remember the blue eyes that Raquella sees as she lay dying? And what color are the eyes of the thinking toy Pruett has?

Face Dancer.

It would take too much time to grow a ghola. I vote face dancer.
Face dancer (Thumbs Up) or Ghola (Thumbs Down)
Ragnar lives!!!!!
To early for a gohla isn't it? Didn't he only just die?
Supposedly died.
Any good explanation on how the face dancer, or ghola was able to burn both the sister and child prince?
Quinn also predicted him to be a ghola aswell

Note blue eyes of bartender and use of what may be sparkely spice gas in the bar. Also the look Keiran gives her before heading off with Nez.
13:40 Water of life Other Memory was already done with Valya, wasn't it? When the first old lady croaked, didn't Valya get her memories?
@MinhFong-p6m i don't know if the sisterhood had figured out the memory transfer techniques this early in their history.
Gola or not i'ma marry this man
Cool
