How to make Chess Pie

  • Preheat Oven to 350 degrees for 45/50 mins.
    1-1/4 c Sugar
    1 stick melted Butter (salted)
    3 Eggs (beaten)
    1-1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
    1 tsp All Purpose Flour
    1 tsp Yellow Cornmeal
    1-1/2 tsp White Vinegar
    1 regular Pie Shell
    Please Follow the tutorial.
    Note: **The top of a cooked pie will always have a crusty foam finish, due to the egg base.

    I just got the notification and before I even watch this video I would like to tell you some things. Chess pie is my all time favorite dessert and it's honestly surprising to me how many people have never heard of it. My mother, whom we lost during covid (but not to covid. Complications from aggressive cancer,) would make me this pie when I asked for it, every few years. It was such a special thing to me, and seeing the title of this video just....makes my heart happy. Thank you for that, Ms Chris.

    I remember having chess pie as a young girl when I visited my family in the south. I just contacted a cousin about getting her mothers recipe and then I happen upon your video. I’m making one this weekend as a tester for the holidays. Yay!!

    Hi Chris, I was following along with the video, I see you added Carnation milk but you don't have it listed with your ingredients, I had some and added what I had left in the fridge about 1/4 cup because I doubled the recipe, its in the oven now, I hope for the best and thanks I love chess pie

    Im 75 years old sndmy grandma made chess pie every sunday and holidays. She finally gave me her recipe but the pie didnt taste like hers. She laughed and said she left out a couple of ingredients but she couldnt give away her secrets...lol

    Howdy y'all, you know what? I like this lady. I would love to have had her for my mother. I came to a screeching halt while scrolling UA-cam, because of the beautiful, perfect pie picture that I recognized immediately--that's a chess pie! (My momma also, used to make it just only like once a year, as another commentator mentioned).

    Hello, this pie looks delicious! 😋 Never had it chess pie..wonder what it taste like! I will definitely try this one..Do you have a recipe for a coconut pie? My aunt use to make some type of a coconut pie with pecans. Have you ever heard of a pie like so? Thank you for your recipes.. My sweet potato pies have been awesome!!!! Since I follow your recipe...Can't thank you enough.. I always what your video on sweet potato pie as I make my every holiday, and get tickled every time you say in that video "that base is good" because it is wonderful!

    Your chess pie turned out great, Ms. Chris! Thanks for the tip about making sure there aren't any holes in the bottom of the crust--that must by the reason why sometimes my pies stick to the pie plate when I go to cut and serve them. Thanks again for the awesome recipe!

    Hi Chris! Thanks for sharing your recipe with us. I made one last night and it was delicious. I did notice the ingredients list 1 TSP ‘teaspoon ’ each for cornmeal and flour, in the video you state it’s 1 TBSP. Would you please confirm the correct amount for those as well?
