Porsche 918 Spyder: Kraftstoffverbrauch (kombiniert) 3,3 - 3,0 l/100 km; Stromverbrauch (kombiniert) 12,5 - 13,0 kWh/100 km; CO2-Emissionen 79 - 70 g/km
Amazing lap. Hats off to Porsche for the 'no nonsense' video.
Some stories are told in just *6 minutes and 57 seconds*. This one is an example. Watch the amazing record lap of the new 918 Spyder in *full length*. More information on www.porsche.com/918
*Fuel consumption (combined according to EU5): 3.3-3.0 l/100 km; CO2 emissions (combined) 79-70 g/km. Electricity consumption 13.0-12.5 kWh/100 km
Mamma mía !!

No mention of Nutburgring in the description. You might want to add it !
Awesome
***** what time would constitute comprehensively destroying the Porsche's ?
I don't mean to argue, but calling the TheFerrari & P1 'more powerful' than the 918 is debatable. The McLaren P1 is has a marginal 16 hp advantage over the Porsche, but gives up an enormous 276 lb/ft of torque. The TheFerrari generates 76 more hp over the Porsche (an 8% advantage), but also falls behind by 276 lb/ft of torque. People are impressed by the horsepower, but forget that engines also produce torque. Porsche has a huge torque advantage.
Torque is what makes a car QUICK. Ask any Diesel car driver..
JasonBungard and a.w.d. advantage too. the Porsche is quick.
it has to be said...the center console looks like a giant Nokia cellphone
+trevor philips Jesus I never noticed that but you're so right lol
Now that you said it...
+trevor philips i thought it was one
+Xplosion51 Loser
And the passenger's side is a giant panasonic laptop! Pretty sure both are for recording data.
The weight of that Laptop took .001 off the time ;)
yea he just play minesweeper on straights with it
His balls is what slowed him down, they are steal after all.
Digital Car Addict I was thinking the same thing while watching this video. Also it looks to be mounted so the mounting hardware probably adds another .001 lolol It's either that or the driver doesn't have breakfast and/or lunch before the run lol sacrifices had to be made so after the runs the driver probably had a sandwich in hand.
I love how they didn't feel the need to put a soundtrack over the video like so many others and just let the 918 speak for itself.
do you know the feeling when a racing in a video game feels unrealistic because it seems to be to fast? watching this just gave me the same feeling. wow
Driver is wearing Adidas gloves, just to underline how German the whole thing is.
that handling at 4:30 tho
seriously this guy has balls, the car is quite heavy, and to be moving at that speed in such a substantial hunk of machine is quite terrifying I imagine.
That run through Kesselchen was scary, but the car was on rails
The best automotive video on the web today. No nonsense music, no talking, just pure mechanical and human perfection!
Tremendous feat of engineering. The 918 is fully loaded with luxuries yet can still break speed records. I feel this cars like this and the Veyron are greater achievements than something like the P1 which is very stripped down and focused on track performance.
Not sure how comfy the seats are.
srinitaaigaura lol he's not worried about comfort, hes just worried about getting around the track as fast as possible
By any stretch of the imagination that was HUGELY impressive. Oceans of power and grip - and the handling looked sublime - and yes, hats-off to the driver too. Balls of steel....!!!!
And now the GT2 RS has managed 6m 47.3s... Absolutely mad.
thank god_!
Lamborgini had done it too under 7 min...
And finally Aventador SVJ managed to do it in 6:44:9 mins !!
But nothing beats the Porsche 919 Evo 5:19
@@inerphobic5343 f1 ferrari or mercedes can beat 919
Thanks for the ride Marc! My goodness that was fast!
MADMANMUSICINC your profile pic 😂
awesome!
I'm assuming it's the driver: who is he? Cause is it just me or did scumbag Porsche not mention his name anywhere in this?
Edit: I just saw helmet, but still
Congratulations to Marc Lieb and the Porsche team! This is an amazing achievement!
I'm not a Porsche fan and that was impressive
Do you have to be "fan" of something nowadays to be impressed.
Couldnt agree with you more
that guys a nasty driver
Bolek989 I wish I had his nastyness! Loved the recovery at 7:16; fast reflexes.
this car has it all. this is the way its going to be in cars , and it can only get better because of Porsche. luv it.
This is the smoothest driver/car on this crazy circuit. There is almost no tire chirp/spin/slide. He is making it look so easy - compare that to the LFA.
Add a top time and this is raised to "art".
Unglaublich!
my Lord the concrete parts of the track must about rattle the fillings out of the drivers teeth
Donald Smartt I’m surprised they weren’t any smoother
@@MKULTRA_Victim_ nature speed scrubber. Like speed bumbs
After watching this, how could you not be a fan!
I am a Porsche fan.. that was very impressive.
YES! I'm glad the full lap is up, I never get tired of watching these Nürburgring in car laps.
Just a few years ago the ZR1 and the GTR were crazy fast...whole new level now!
So much grip...
Grip through this world!!!
I'm totally amazed by this car. That was so fast...just brilliant.
beyond laws of physics
+ukropadam Props to the driver who is crazy to exit certain curves at that speed... he could have died if he made 1 mistake
I almost couldn't watch it with full concentration. It was just so intense. Sub-7 minutes. Wow!
Wow such a lovely car and that's what you call an excellent driver lads. Porsche forever
Mark Lieb is the driver-Porsche racing team.
I don't think I've ever seen such a stable car driven at speed. Amazing!
A new track record for a production based car. Wow!
I held my breath for six minutes and 57 seconds! Awesome!
I'm impressed. You just can't stop watching. If you love cars, you must love this....
beautiful sounds, beautiful car, beautiful track, beautiful results. very nice
Merry Christmas (to those who celebrate it)
Woke up this morning and thought, I should stop drinking coffee. Turned on the laptop, went to UA-cam and decided to watch this video.
I have now thrown away all my coffee.
M.L. Has command of speed, distance, time, gravity and machine tolerance... perfect !
Amazing. What staggered me the most is the fact that the driver does not seem to be fighting the car. The car seems very compliant and this I am judging by the steering wheel movements. I also believe the new Michelin Sport Cup 2 or whatever those tires are called played a HUGE role in getting this unbelievable lap time! Amazing progress in automotive tech if you ask me!
Was watching this in bed and fell asleep.... Beautiful sound, whenever i need sleep ill play this from now on
@Porsche
Very nice!!! it did beat the LP 750-4's record
By the way, the driver pushes the 918 very hard, I admire him very much, I want him to teach me driving 'v'
Nice job Porsche
carx drift racer it does look super impressive. Marc Lieb is a incredibly talented driver 😊
whole time i was thinking, please do not wreck the car please do not.. ^^
The Nordschleife is a 21km Porsche-Laboratory and the 918 finished countless laps during the past years of development. On this track an experienced package can be much faster than a more powerfull car ! Now Ferrari is in a rush to test over there, but from now on the weather is also getting more and more unsteady, and this is another significant factor on the Nordschleife. Ferrari is only unbeatable at Fiorano, but Fiorano lap times wont make people excited ...
this is impressive, but i wish i could see stefan bellofs 6:06 lap in the 956, that would be unbelievable to watch
he was so fast in that lap that it looks like a fairy tale haha, i wish i could see it too
Sadly we cannot see this... however we could see if their 919 LMP1 could beat it! ;)
6.11.13 min was the record lap! Not 6.06... ;-)
Congratulations Porsche!!!
Porsche truly is a legendary car company and I am happy that they are the first brand to cross the legendary under 7 minutes limit as a production car. (I don't count radical as they are barely legal)
This car is just sick. I don't think La Ferrari or the P1 can touch it, maybe just maybe the Pagani will give it go but honestly I think the 918 is in a class by itself.
steve Johnson lamborghini aventador sv came so close
what exceptional work you've done here Porsche
Der Zonda R hat doch nicht mal eine Straßenzulassung oder? - Folglich ist die Leistung des 918 schon Rekordverdächtigt :-)
Great driver and a great car. Well done
Porsche. There really is no substitute.
I find it hard to believe that it actually did that time because a 599xx which is at least 500kg lighter albeit less powerful did it in 6:58.16. And that car had slicks and it`s basically a race car. But i give credit where it`s due seeing how fast this 918 is at corner exit. It`s mind blowing how balanced and smooth it looks, the engineers really did a great job on fine tuning this beast.
sure looks like it, either that or he's a God at feeling the car's grip
Dat scritch-scratch noises on fuchsrohe (sorry for the spelling)...whoa, 280kph on kesselchen, fighting with the steering...crazy. This thing sure has tons of traction! Great lap.
7:14 Awesome slide and Awesome skill!!
Very cool, Is it just me or does the center console look like an industrial size Nokia phone.
Nope, it's me too..
yes it kind of dose
once you've seen it... :D
Awesome! Congratulations to Porsche. Would have been nice to see some telemetry readouts, speed, gear selection, rpm, etc.
absolut genial was Porsche da gebaut hat, Kompliment!
The fast steering its insane. the way he steers so fast, its seems the car as glue on the tires. As a Ferrari fan, Porsche its always been top quality brand.
This guys a near perfect driver. Especially the way he brakes. Speaking of which this car can go really fast into corners! Phenomenal car from Porsche.
congrats & cheers to Marc Lieb. what a lap & fun video from porsche. thanks for the fun @ work.
3700lbs with insane power and torque, able to maintain control and stability on the most messed up track is unreal.
Meanwhile the rivals are laying low after declaring super fast fake lap times.
+smsuperman nissan GTR is 150lbs more of weight, 300 horsepower less and 800 000$ less expensive yet the difference between these two is only 11 seconds in the nurburgring.
Dumb question. From 7:25-7:50 the speedometer doesn't go over 280km/hr. We all know the 918 can go way faster. So how come on such a long straight, Lieb didn't push it?
ROFLcopter when I went around the ring for the first time I can remember being absolutely blown away at how much more bumpy the track seems as opposed to a video game, so with it being a pretty low car, it catching the bumps along Antoniusbuche etc restricts it from accelerating even faster, the fastest cars around the ring tent to be either higher up or incredibly light to cure that problem, or have softer tyres.
ROFLcopter I imagine it has to do with all the "bouncing"
Can't be all to safe to bounce around at 300+
ROFLcopter Had it not run out of "boost" by that section? You can see him change something on the steering wheel. I'm thinking he may have used up all the battery boost by that section? It did seem to get up to that speed in other sections much more quickly.
+chipchip he was flying with over 300 before easily, so I reckon running out of boost was the case
+Pedro Hernan that's BS, they should have went all out!
This car has some incredible traction control... The only thin Marc is battling is understeer, rarely ever do you see him battling any kind of over-steer at this power level I just don't understand how that is possible on street tires as early as he is getting on the power. Amazing video. I'd like to see a video without the assists, something tells me this car is much more of a handful than this video is suggesting. Either way, still an incredibly display of engineering prowess and technology!
When it started skipping at 1:18 I would have chickened out and backed right off. Hats off to this guy.
Magnificent driving. Quite breathtaking. Thumbs up, Porsche.
Marc has some giant balls... insane lap.
James May: It doesn't matter.
Beautiful!! The high speed stability without understeer is amazing!
I dont think P1 or LaFerrari will be faster around the ring, I think the 4WD of the 918 is what makes it put that crazy power to the ground out of corners and enable the sub 7 min time in stock form with road tires.
fastest production car lap ..... just wow, this is amazing
Pagani did it in a non-road-legal car, that means racing slick tires, and nearly 1100 KG curb weight. This car achieving 6:57 on street tires and 1600 KG is nothing short of miraculous!
Awesome ! Looking forward to watching P1 test In Nür !
Incredible ... I respect the engineering. I drive some pretty fast machines too and this shows a remarkable achievement indeed.
MARC LIEB, If you are reading this : YOU ARE PHENOMENAL !!!!!!!!
Well done Porsche! The pressure is on the P1 now!
I think it will. The P1 has so much more downforce, corner speeds should theoretically be higher. Can't wait to see the numbers for the P1 and the LaFerrari!
This is insane. Racecar status! And looks more smooth than the Lambo thats in 4th place record
This is Marvelous! It felt like riding onboard - my sons and I watched this and have a couple of questions -
1. How was the driver shifting so accurately while keeping both hands tightly on the wheel? We could not detect any movements - was the driver paddle shifting? if so, where were the controls? On the steering wheel? If so, where?
2. How was the driver able to maintain such high speeds while being in tight control?we could see the digital speedometer, and were impressed by the speed through the turns, the shifting pattern and the accuracy of driving -
Thanks in advance...
How are his balls fitting in the car? Just look at the insane jumping of the car before the turn 4:32 oO
Remember about 2 months ago when the auto writers were questioning the 918 and why it appeared so anemic compared to the P1 and LaFerrari? The critics have been silenced. It is every bit their equal, if not better. P1 has yet to break 7 minutes despite more power. And its no contest in the looks department. The 918 is elegant where form follows function. The other two look like science fiction spaceships.
amazing car. truly. i don't usually like Porsches, and that was the case with this too at first sight, but looking long enough, it's a beauty. you just have to understand. the performance is amazing. and it's not as barefeet as the P1, although that is a brilliant race machine. Porsche found balance. P1 is pure performance.
Amazing car, amazing driver, amazing track and amazing time.
I watch this everyday religiously
918 did a earlier 6:48 lap with more sports/track focused tires.
The tires on this car are balanced for performance and (gas) efficiency.
And of course the driver (Marc Lieb) said he wasn't even pushing it as hard as he could on the standard road tires as is.
I honestly believe the P1 will be substantially faster. We're getting into times now that fully prepped race cars run...and it's a great era! The P1 weighs less, has more power, and the downforce it produces is head and shoulders above what we've seen in a production car...even some race cars, and it can be cancelled whenever the driver wants (such as it's run over the mile plus long straight). I hope McLaren puts out an onboard video as Porsche did, but with telemetry. It would be pure bliss.
Nice to see Porsche factory driver Marc Leib behind the wheel, can't wait for Porsche's return to Le Mans next year! :)
I love it when he hits 20 sec hyper on the wheel...that left me speechless...!!!
never shouted so many curse words during a UA-cam video! a hell of a driver and a car that loves the track
I cannot believe I just saw an AUTOMATIC gearbox car do that....nice drive Marc Leib
+Quadrant14
Unfortunately, you'll have to get used to it. They may be quicker than a manual, but I still want a manual. Most cars are PLENTY fast enough that you don't need that extra 1/10th of a second 0-60. If all you plan to do is race at the drag strip, then fine, but I prefer to drive on real roads and do a few track days on a road course here and there.. The limits of most cars (not just hypercars) are so far out of bounds for most drivers it's ridiculous. IOW, most drivers will never notice the 'slower' acceleration.
Marc is an animal on the Nordschleife :-)
I don't think the 918 was pushed to its limits. This car redlines at 9000rpm. Didn't sound like it was redlining that high. If I'm right, that's scary. Great car. I love seeing new records being set.
Freman Paez I know this is super late, but apparently the designer purposely cut around 17-20 percent of the engine's power in the event that a rival beat the time. You can confirm by the straightaway at the end. 918 does not top out at 280 KMH. Plus, the engineers told the driver not to push the car too hard in the corners. Not a 6:57 run more like a 6:52 run.
Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks he could have pushed more! To be honest, I think he could have dropped like 6/8 sec...
For me the driver wasn't "consistent", as he doesn't top out the 280Kmh you are talking about at the end but take a look at 2:14! He gets to 300Kmh and there is a lot harder to hit the 300 (few production cars hit 300 there)... There are also some turns he could have pushed more with the AWD system and that monstrous grip... I honestly don't understand if it's either the car's, driver's or engineer's fault.
Nonetheless, it's a great car and a nice driver.
That was some great driving by Max! Good thing the track was empty of any other traffic. That was 53 seconds faster than the 2012 Porsche Cayman R.
Badass!!! Porsche is peerless. There is no substitute.
Porsche 918 Spyder, one million dollars. No traffic on the Nürburgring, priceless.
What a lap, what a car... that grip!!!
Amazing engineering. 3,0l/100km and the fastest production car at the same time.. You can see the efficiency of that? Amazing Amazing and that racing engine sound at 9150rpm is INSANE.
+Pedro Solis Haha yes, but not at the same time. Not by a long shot.
So much more sophisticated and refined than the P1. I am sure any lay-driver could easily do a faster time in this than P1 although any lay driver would probably be in the armco in the P1 too. Would buy in standard spec tomorrow if funds permitted. The best car currently available...
The driver was really pushing, very impressive lap and very impressive car :)
Where you at McLaren P1 and La Ferrari? :D
***** lol your profile pic
surewin they were so fast the stopwatch broke!
and Koenigsegg
Nicolas Cook haha if they can get the one:1 to work it will be pretty quick
surewin and probably faster than the rest
I'm guessing he hit that button at the start of the straight away to soften the suspension a little. Those bumps could throw the car in a spin at such high speeds.
Porsche RULES. ;)
Some say ...
Allready 5 years ago! First car under 7 minutes! Amazing! Have a 1/12 scale model of this car! :-)
