I think the video is very well explained. Works very well for me and I'm using a 75 ft quarter inch hose with it along with 1800 psi electric pressure washer 3 months later. Still no leaks. Thank you very much for a cost effective pressure washer hose reel.
Gary is one of the VERY few real ones on YT. He adds value that’s applicable, useful and actually works:)! I mounted mine to a Rigid rolling tool cart. Looks cool and I love it. Thank you! Btw would you recommend completely unreeling the hose before turning pw on? I also turn water and unit off before reeling up. Not sure if it’s necessary but working great so far 👍.
I don’t really do any of that. I’m rough on my things and I want them to work the way I want them to work so I don’t usually take any precautions. They may be a bad thing but hey that’s who I am.
Your first video on this modification save me a lot of time and effort I have mine hooked up to my active 2.0 pressure washer and it runs awesome I do have some small leakage from the same places you talked about but it's not a big deal I just disconnect all the water problem solved
Great video you’ve motivated me to pull the trigger and do this watching your video for the 4th time now. So tired of wrapping my hose up with ties can’t wait to finally have a retractable reel. Also do you have a video on your entire set up like the type of wood you used to mount everything to ? Sorry I’m new here
Just did the exact same setup, except I'm using it a 25ft Uberflex hose coupled with the stock Active 2.0 hose it works fine. Yes, I'm going to upgrade to a 50ft so this is just temporary but incase anybody was curious.
Have you tried this on a “Quad Pod” hose reel such as the one from Goodyear? I am thinking it would be great for added length when your stationary reel is not long enough… simply carry the Quad Pod to the end of the line and you have another 100 feet available. I ask because the fittings are different. Thanks
Hi thanks for your video, I just spent weeks ordering parts and a bunch of time taking it apart and drilling out the hole big enough to fit the hose in and after all that it leaks like crazy from the fitting that came with the hose reel, the part where you said there two pressure fittings, it is spraying hard and lots of water leaking, I feel like I have just wasted a bunch of money and time and want to dump this reel in the garbage, this my last ditch attempt, but is there anyway to fix the leak on the fitting or should I just throw it away? Any info would be appreciated thank you
Just finished watching the update , which I would of know about the air hose before I took it off , now I have some slack hanging out so I might have to figure out how to tighten it up so it’s not loose, either way it worked now I have to hand it in the van
@@StaySlick yeah I think I missed it but I had bought the real to do that and instead of waiting to get all the parts I needed I pulled the air hose off instead of waiting
I made the mistake of not pulling the hose all the way out originally so when I replaced the original air hose with the pressure washer one it doesn’t retract all the way. What would you do to fix it?
Gary I followed all your steps and converted a reel long story but my Uber flex hose was never delivered from Amazon so I purchased a yamatic hose locally but I notice severe loss of pressure is this common to lose power or is it the hose or can it be my unit wondering if you have an idea ?
@@StaySlick thanks for taking the time to reply I should have watch your video about the yamatic hose before I bought it in gonna try another hose maybe it’s my unit that is not working properly thanks again
i think im gonna go to the harbor freight and use my 25% coupon right now thanks for the video ! do you think the ryobi 1800 psi will be okay with this setup?
I'm using this on my gas predator pressure washer with no probems except the occasional drip at the same place you said you have a drip when pressure is released
The problem is that snap ring breaks its game over, and it happened to me while I was detailing, tried fixing it replacing the o ring after it broke. Be aware of the snap ring and O rings.
@Stay Slick the snap ring failed on me, but I'll share this info since I didn't want to give up on the reel, my recommendation to prevent any leakage, wrap plumbers tape where the O-ring is meant to go then place the O ring until its nice and snug. After that test it a few times if no water leaks, then your good. Will give an update to see how long it goes without leaking problems.

Brother I got a question right on minute and 30 seconds you said that the 3 part is the hose that go to pressure washer okay on there I have the 25 ft from ryobi and I’m being losing pressure you think is okay to replace it with a 5ft air pressure hose ?
my question is what would happen if it where to fail? does it simply spray water all over the place at high pressure or are we talking about a chunk of metal breaking off one of the fittings and flying somewhere unpredictable?
Did this to my rig last week thanks to your help. I unfortunately blew the seal out yesterday during a job. I use an electric pressure washer but a very powerful one with adjustable pressure. Turned it up and boom. I’ll have to keep the pressure low after I fix it.
has any tried changing the reel swivel with nice mosmatic hose reel swivel? cox, general pump, titan. all sell hose reel swivels I just don't know if it would thread on to this reel.
It’ll spray water out of the side of the reel. My buddy said he was able to put it back together each time so I’m assuming it’s fixable I’ll have to test it out.

Great video. But Shouldnt have a problem using a proper 5800 psi rated hose and using that same reel that your using surely that would work if you put the correct hose on it. That reel is solid.
Unfortunately no. The problem is that this entire reel relies solely on the psi rating of the swivel. I know from experience it’s no more than 1500 psi.
I run a 3/8 hose and have not had any issues. I followed your instructions and no issues.

I wondered that myself about the 300psi...I mean it's metal so if Seals are good cool.
Great follow up / update !!!
Maybe adding a super swivel so it wont leak?
I love the way your intro is short and Welcoming!!!
Thank you very much I appreciate that
Thanks Gary I did this with a different harbor, freight hose reel. I may have already commented on it but it only helps the algorithm. Stay Slick
I’m getting some black colored water when I first use. Anyway, I love your content and I always get some value out of what you say.
Interesting I haven’t had that happen. Thank you for watching brother.
I really liked your first video, your second video cleared a few things up ! Thanks

I did this setup last night. Really glad I did. Thanks for making the video and giving us links to buy the right products
Right on brother glad you like it. Let me know how it goes.
It busted. So I did a bypass and just use it as a reel and then connect it when it's all out
I've had this setup in my garage hooked up to an Active 2.0 for over a year now, no issues what so ever.

building my trailer setup now! I have a ryobi pressure washer that would work perfect for this upgrade.

If you upgrade the pump do you think that will allow it to work for gas pressure washer Which seal leaks ?
No it has to do with the seals on the reel. not the Pump. The seals where the reel rotates and meets the water Inlet
I seen on here that Mosmatic might have a high psi rated swivel fitting that you can buy?
They do but it’s the price of a new reel
