    I own an Arai Quantum/f... I honestly just took the visor off it 3 times after reading these comments just to make sure I wasn't crazy. It worked flawlessly. Literally took me about 25 seconds each time. Maybe you people aren't using lube or are thinking about it too much? I stand over my helmet, visor facing away and do each side at the same time. rather than fiddle with each one seperate. No bolts, no tools, no snaps, no screws. I don't see how it could be easier.

  • @saleen308
    @saleen308 14 років тому +1

    Yup...broke a piece of the side tonight. I'll be buying a Shoei next time just because of the sheild change system. This has been a pita for every Arai helmet and model I've had.

    Thank you John! Just took the visor off my Arai for the first time to clean it and was afraid of breaking it trying to put it back in! You made it simple. Thanks!

    Sorry, I was being too harsh earlier. But it is seriously so easy. I will make a video for you someday. To be honest, if I didn't get an Arai as a gift, I would not have purchased one. They are great helmets but I don't have that kind of cash to throw around. The shields and other spare parts for it are ridiculously overpriced and I have a Bell dirt bike helmet that I think is wayyyy more more comfy and doesn't fog up like my Arai. It's a dirt helmet but still dot and snell approved. My baby!

    This video helped a lot. The visor is actually easy to change. Watch the video carefully and visualize where the lever is. Lastly, do not overly force anything in, as it slips on rather easily!
    It's all about feel.

  • @m5zealot
    @m5zealot 14 років тому

    It's the whole Ninja thing w/ them! There really isn't a way to show you how to do this like the experts on paper or video. It took me about 10 tries to get it right. My buddy damaged his visor trying. It's a "feel" thing. I actually got better by closing my eyes (using the "force?") when I did it. No matter how stupid this system is, there is no other helmet in the world I would want to crash in than an Arai. My head is worth the price and hassle of visor system!

    Yeah I've not long had an arai and the visor change mechanism just didn't seem right to me either and I swore i wouldn't be doing it again but there is a knack of doing it. Once you get used to it, it really is easy and I think the mechanism itself 'wears in' after a few attempts. I lift the little levers up at the same time with my thumbs and then lift/lever the visor upwards. looks bloody great with a black visor! keep tryin bro, you'll get the hang of it!! happy ridin dude.

    This should be a demonstration event at the next Olympics. Skill, dexterity, patience and a above all else, pure dumb luck. Only took me 20 minutes but I must have watched this video 10 times. The trick is to add a little dab o' that silicon lubricant. And when that fails add some to the helmet and it slips in a little easier. Not much, just a little.

  • @Quickhandedpanda

    i couldn't figure out how to do this, but then i watched this video and within 1 minute I got my visor in. explaining the notch thing, and then figuring out the crescent hole shape goes on the round peg on the top, it just wiggled a bit then popped in. awesome! still a pain, but awesome!

    My levers broke off (well one did) and it's so much easier to get the visor off just putting your finger between it and the helmet (where the lever used to push up into). I used to really struggle pulling the damn thing out, now it's instant and there no cracking plastic sounds to scare me. I used to prefer my Shoei X-Spirit mechanism, but since the 'break' I've gone back to my Arai. I'll always just remove the levers from my Arais now.

    Replacing the face shield on my Signet-Q, I had a problem with the release lever on the right hand side. It would not release, as I could not get it to snap at the top, the lever would just bend. Fused with it a while and finally got the right side of the shield released. Used the silicon lub that came with the replacement shield and then the right side worked fine. I think from here out I will pull the shield off every six months or so and lub it up. When the system works, it works well and is quick.

    Thanks for this. Was actually struggling with mine. Arai make the best helmets, with by far the worst visor change mechanism. Wouldn't go back though.
    And please don't tell me what colour visor to wear, that ain't your business.

  • @JLHayes13

    Changing my visor was a piece of cake. I can see how the sides might brake if you put too much pressure on them but you need to know when what you are doing is not working and try something else. It literally took me 30-45 seconds to change my visor the first time I tried.

    When I got my Arai twelve years ago there was no UA-cam to visually learn how to do this. The first time I tried to install the visor it seem to take 25 attempts until I finally got it installed properly. Not once since then have I had trouble with removing or installing an Arai visor.

    great video and great helmet light and full of features but buyer beware... changing the visors is insanely difficult for the price you pay... have changed scorpion exo 700 and shoei.s and never had this much trouble switching visors for day and night. the visors come off if you do it right... then putting the new one on is the worst ...

    I'm a new rider - 1 month of riding. Signet Q is my first helmet and I have the thing completely apart and back together again in minutes. TRICK - face the helmet away from you, work from the back. I can take the visor off in 3 secs. Back on in 10. I've even adjusted the visor fit as I found a leak.

    I just found out that some of Arai are easy and some others are harder to replace. I checked on about a dozen of RX7. Even last month I found one of the sidepod are not equally made (a little plastic stood out) on an Corsair V !!!
    I understand that Arai is keeping this system until now... but there are lots of other way which are easier and simpler.
    No offence.

    @Finrokr Update: the problem was that I had not taken the visor off and lubricated the touching plastic parts~. I had to have the side panels/visor removed in the place where I bought the helmet, but now it works perfect, very easy to remove and replace the visor.

    Got both, arai is easily more comfortable over longer journeys - XR1000 vs Corsair. Again, view one of my vids to show how a visor change is done. Only clumsy people manage to break arai visors and sidepods! I told my mate how to change his visor on his new arai in 5 mins and he mastered the technique - couldn't stop playing with it afterwards, you start to fidget with it!

  • @SKYP1G
    @SKYP1G 12 років тому

    Yep BS indeed. I love the venting/fit of my second RX7.
    I dread changing Visors.
    "Old mate" seems to struggle, even having done it many times (I'm sure) and knowing if he breaks anything - replacements are on hand.
    I bet this is "take 27" as well.

  • @Titot182
    @Titot182 15 років тому

    Practise... view my videos and it's a 3 stage process. Basically, pull both tabs upwards like you pull a trigger of a gun, then yank the visor up beyond 45 degrees and it'll come off piss easy. To put it back on, slot the visor in at 45 degrees, bash it down until you hear a click and close the visor. Be vigorous and assertive and it won't break. I can change a visor with the lid on my head whilst on the bike- can't do that on my shoei XR1000 - not within 10 seconds at least.

  • @cartons46

    It is even easier to do it than he makes it look. Dont blame the helmet cause you are doing it wrong.. You just need to do it right. Also the small plastic parts that break away in an accident are supposed to do that. If they dont break away they could catch on something or cause stuctural damage to the shell.
    I can change a brand new right out of the box arai visor is about 3 second. Thats off and back on. Stay tuned. Ill post it

    I've been watching you tube tutorials on how to change an Arai visor for a while now , and it isn't getting any easier .
    I've struggled quite a bit on my first attempt , and on my second it was a complete disaster .
    Took me 15 min to get it off , and while I was putting it back on , one of the clips feel off .
    It sounds like the thing is going to break any time and overall it looks , feels and sounds like a cheap piece of crap .
    Is my helmet faulty or what ?

    Neerrr i can do it on my head - why don't u teach that? Why not order the sidepods from singapore or hong kong or USA instead since its much cheaper. Definitely one to look out for. I think the whole point of owning an arai is to stick the proverbial dark tint visor on it - any other colour is waste of 40-50 quid.

    Either this is rigged or I have a defective helmet. I took it to the dealer and he replaced the mounts (at my expense of course) and even then it took him about 15 minutes to put on a new face shield after the plates went on. If anyone from Arai can change my faceshield without parts popping off the helmet, I'll buy a new helmet of my helmet's original value. We can put it on video to show how wrong I am and how truly easy this is :) PS I really do love the Profile, but seriously...

  • @twelvemints

    this video is very missleading.
    sure it's easy when you've done it 1000's of times across variations of the same design. its not the first few times when you're not sure how much pressure it requires and then end up breaking a tiny but fundamental piece of plastic.
