Me niether. Such a shame that Terry, Lynval and Neville walked away to form the fun boy shitty three. What were they thinkin? The Specials could have easy gone on to do a couple more albums. They really left Jerry Dammers in the shit there and he had to make one more album because it was in the contract. What were they thinkin walkin away from the coolest band ever like that? Especialy when they were at number one!!?
I think Dammers had a contract for 3 more albums but the cost of In The Studio used up all the budget for 3 albums. He was left to either do another 2 albums for free or sit tight until Chrysalis eventually released him which I believe they did in the late 80s. The guys a bloody genius and deserved way more credit than he ever got.
All bands have a life shelf, Jerry knew this and saw it coming and wanted to push the sound, hell even Terry and them wanted to too which is why they went off and did their own pop thing, same with Madness, The Beat, etc. Jerry still hammered out classics like this and Nelson Mandela without them though, he was a visionary. The reunion shit without him was a shame and a disgrace, especially with some of the comments that Neville had about it afterward about it being a cash grab and there was no love anymore between the members, all which were the reason why Dammers didn't join them. He didn't want to rehash the same songs they wrote as kids in the same way, he wanted wanted to move forward.
@@cipher.u.justice I totally agree. I was gutted in 2009 when they reformed. A friend of mine had a spare ticket to go and see them because he had fall out with his wife and she didn't want to go anymore so he offered me her ticket. I wouldn't go. It was obvious it was going to be nothing like the magic they made in 1979 and l was right. It baffles me why people pretend it's a good thing.
This is rare footage! Not seen any videos of this tune before, other than the official released video. Thanks for sharing 👍
Jerry Dammers for President (of the universe)!!!
Damn Dammers is great and original
A mere 5 years since Gangsters had been released. The band is literally unrecognisable, containing just 2 originals at this point.
One of the best songs ever. 😊
Top of the pops is where I first heard this song and I been searching for 40 years for it.
Isn't this when they played on Crackerjack?
Oh porque Jerry se retiró cuando era un artista genial 😢
Love this....
Looks like David Beckham. LOL.

Fun Boy Three were brilliant.
@@SoulStylistJukeBox not a patch on The Specials though.
