    Todays job we have 30 coping stones to lay which are sand coloured, we have 2 corner pieces which are specially made.
    We managed to complete it all in a days work.
    Rather than me making one long video(which could of got boring) I decided to split it into two videos trying to get a variety of time lapse and real time footage.
    Hope you all enjoy, part 2 will be coming next week!

    er, shouldnt they be once weathered (slope on one side.. thinnest part facing inwards to the roof)) as its a parapet roof as opposed to a garden wall.

    Hey! DIY-er here, looks like you've done a lovely job with those. What mortar mix did you use? Not sure whether sharp sand or building sand is best for laying coping stones? Cheers

      Hi Joe, I use a mortar mix of 4 building sand to 1 cement mate, that’s what I’d recommend!👍🏽🧱

    • @ConstructionwithKieren
      @ConstructionwithKieren  3 роки тому +2

      The mortar used was red building sand & cement with a ratio of 4 sand : 1 cement!

    No need for any primer on the stone? Won't it just slip off eventually as the stone is smooth

  • @scottlittlehales6737

    Great vid. I’ve seen on other forums that they wet the stone before applying. What’s your thoughts on this? Does it adhere more?

    • @ConstructionwithKieren
      @ConstructionwithKieren  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't of thought it would help adhere more just maybe stops the mortar from going off as quick. Cheers!

    why the pointing trowel ? just because you may have a larger trowel, you don't have to load it to the max

    • @ConstructionwithKieren
      @ConstructionwithKieren  3 роки тому +1

      Mainly for getting into the bucket easier mate, rather than trying to get spot boards on the roof etc I just use a bucket and a smaller trowel👍🏽🧱

    What did you use to close the cavity? I'm doing the same project but with epdm, after gluing down the epdm on the top of the inner course should i then trim it where the cavity starts or should I run the epdm over the cavity and onto the outer course?
