How To Find & Develop Your Fashion Style

- Today we’re going to be talking about how to find and develop your own personal style. Finding your own style and sticking to it can be tricky, as we’re often swayed by others and their opinions. Although listening to others can be good at times, it can also hold you back from developing your own style and wearing what works best for you. In this video, I’m going to talk you through all the methods that helped me to find my own personal style and I think they’ll help you find yours too.
Don’t get finding your style confused with it meaning you have to wear the same types of outfits for the rest of your life. My style has changed over the years and it continues to develop, but, it follows a pattern and I know what works for me.
Think of your personal style like building a house. You need to lay the foundation first before you can start developing from it. You can make changes to the building along the way, but the foundation stays the same. So, once you’ve laid the foundations down in your own style, you can develop and build from there.

I didn’t discover my style until I was over 35! I knew I liked minimal
clothes but never had a look. One night, I used grade 3 all over my
head and suddenly it all came together. The width and height of face
was balanced, my fine flat hair didn’t look like it was ‘trying to do a style’
anymore. I felt like a confident person. It still motivates me to stay trim!
That was the first time in years that girls really made me feel wanted.
Same here, I shaved my head and grew a beard when I was 35 and have been fighting the men off with a stick ever since (I'm gay so it isn't a bad thing 😂)

You can literally wear anything with olive, it's as versatile as black. You can try earth tones or yellow if you feel it

Sometimes I feel like there are just way too many options & I get overwhelmed by trying to make decisions. I have a massive collection of outfit pictures that I like on Pinterest but finding items that look like the ones in the photo can be really difficult or I do find it & it’s super expensive - though that’s probably why it looks great. I try to remember too that one pricier item I love is probably better than to cheaper ones that are just ok.

My style is no pattern (other than striped and plaid shirts) and retro, like kind of anything 1930s-1980s. The reason for that is practicality- I like the quality of good vintage clothes, I can afford them, and they are enough to look very unique without looking too strange. People often ask "where can I get that shirt/coat etc" and the answer is "some random shop in Paris, in 1975"

I'm 18 and am skinny with long legs and i've come to a conclusion that skin fit isn't for me, long sleeves, baggy Ts are more like it and ofc Jackets :)
Yeah ngl as a guy with very long limbs i prefer wearing jackets or long sleeve shirts and tshirts, but dont be afraid when summer comes to just embrace your physique. Finding well fitting t shirts, ideally a more cropped shorter length i find helps create a boxier cut without adding layers in the summer heat.

I buy them already tapered. I’m lucky with my height and know what to look out for so I can get what I want online quite easily.
I have tailored some pairs in the past though and they fit great 👍

my issue isn't finding my style really, but finding the confidence to wear it. I just wear a black or white tee with black jeans everywhere because of it.
Nothing wrong with wearing that. I wear that because I choose to and it looks good. You don’t have to wear bright and flashy things to look stylish. If you want to wear more flashy and out there pieces then take small steps towards it. Introduce the odd piece here and there. The more you do it, the more it will feel normal for you. I bet you’ve had an item of clothing you were nervous to wear and now wear it all the time and you can’t believe you ever felt nervous in it. It’s because you have grown comfortable in it. Hope that helps
