    Thanks for this pattern. I used Bernat Blanket for a different texture and thickness. Using one skein, about 14 chains to start up, works very quickly, probably 2 hours, no interruptions. Scarf is super chunky thick! Wish I could post a pic!

    I was always confused on how the horizontal ringing was made but had never seen any waffle stitch pieces or handled them to see how it was done, this was an easy follow along! I used the “mistletoe” yarn by RHSS and used a jumbo roll + half of a second jumbo roll to make it and I’m gone to border it with white and add tassels 😁😁

    9:10 I'm a little confused here, the video seems to show two different ways of ending the row: either FPDC on second to last and then DC on last, ignoring the chain, or after the video cuts it shows FPDC on last stitch and DC on top of chain. Do we just choose whichever way we like?
    The former makes the most sense, but in the latter I'm not sure if I'm missing something it doesn't line up. There's 21 DC in the first row. The first stitch of the second row is a DC, and from there you repeat the series of 3 stitches (1 FPDC, 2 DC) 6 times to end on a full sequence (now you've done 19 stitches in this row) before the end of the row would leave two stitches and the chain. This is where I'm confused: If you're going to FPDC in the last stitch and DC in the chain, you'd have to either skip a stitch (ending with 21 stitches like the previous row) or have 3 DC in a row or 2 FPDC in a row (which would end up with 22 stitches in the row) because otherwise the numbers aren't adding up. Sorry if I misunderstood something ;;

      @@odetteveitch6439 everything is different for each person! It’s usually harder to see the each stitch and where it starts with darker yarn

    • @odetteveitch6439

      @@Lili613b when working with dark yarn, light from underneath. It's simple physics. Lighting from above creates more shadows, making it harder to see where to put your hook. Light from underneath illuminates the working spaces, making it incredibly easy to work with dark yarn.
      A tap light from the dollar store in the lap, or a cheap head lamp strapped to the thigh, will work wonders.
      People waste tons of money on expensive OTT Lights and cheap garbage light up hooks when _it doesn't matter how bright the light is if you put it in the wrong place_
      There are lots of instructions online on how to make a DIY light box (same concept, light from below) but cheap solutions are just as effective.
      *Work smarter, not harder*

      What happened is that she made a mistake and went back to fix it, however, she did not go back far enough. The correct way is front post double crochet (fpdc) then a double crochet in the top of the chain, just like we would do after the fpdc. Does that help at all?

    • @7fredo
      @7fredo 3 роки тому

      There is definitely something off with the counting. if you work a multiple of 3+2, as is 23 you have an extra stitch,
      row 1: ch2 + 21dc = 22st
      row 2: dc *{fpdc dc dc}x6 fpdc dc(in ch2) that is 1+18+2 = 21st
      row 3 : dc *{dc fpdc fpdc}x6 dc dc(in ch) again 21st
      at first she does the last fpdc and dc in the 2 last (dc) stitches (without the ch2)
      then she corrects to do them at the last (dc) stitch and the ch2
      but does not explain the gap and the count issue

    Your tutorials are fabulous! I've made several of your projects in the just the past few weeks. One possibly dumb 😳 question I have is about how to identify the "top chain" of the turning chain. For me it's usually just "trial & error" and then I see what looks good and/or is continuing the edge straight. For this waffle stitch though since we are only chaining 1 at the end of each row I'm struggling trying to figure out which is the "top chain" of the turning chain. I can't quite tell in this video. 🙄

      Update: now that I've gotten about a dozen rows down I must have guessed correctly as the last stitch of each row now appears to make sense. However, if you have any "basic" tutorials about identifying stitches, turning chains, top chains, etc. that would be great! 👍🏻😀

    I got confused at the end of the 2nd row. It's like part of the video was cut or u changed the ending at the last minute.

      A year have passed and here am i, with the same problem :P at the end of second row i'm having 2, not 1 stitch left. I've started with 32 stitches (multiple of 3 + 2), so i'm making 1dc at the very begining, then 9 times this motive of fpdc+2dc and it summs up to 28, not 29 (1 + 3*9). So confused, HELP!

      You end up with 22 posts (21 dc+ the chain 2) with this pattern which is normal.
      Skip the dc from the chain 1 at the end and start with the next (the first actual stitch in the row).
      Remember she says to dc in the top on the chain 1, these you skip and the pattern will work.
