I know this is only my subjective opinion, but the red backlight would be a show-stopper for me. Reminds me of the reddish dashboard lighting that Pontiac cars had, which drove me insane. To me, the white backlight provides a more pleasing contrast.
It may not appeal to some which is totally cool in my book. But I love it LOL.
I assume they went with the red light for detecting at night. Red light doesn’t ruin your night vision so you don’t trip over obstacles on the ground. Also red light doesn’t stand out as much as white light so if you are detecting on the beach at night you don’t stand out to people which causes them to be curious or call the Police. Having both a red and white background light would have been optimal. It doesn’t seem like too much to ask for with our current technology. I guess they are saving that for the Equinox 1000. 😂
Hey Scott, just wanted add a comment to say what an absolute Gentleman you are. I have watched most of your video posts and have seen you have taken the time and replied to every comment posted from your subscribers which to me shows you really appreciate your Subscribers and their feedback. Awesome videos and really informative, thanks Scott (And Rocky) you’re an absolute legend kindest regards Dave 🇦🇺Equinox 800 & Excalibur user
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that Dave.
Getting an Equinox 700 but the menu go through is very helpful for me. Thank You for this.
Glad it helped!
Great comparison, hopefully the were able to tweak it internally to give it a little more performance. Excited to get mine in hand!!
We'll do some tweaks Brian. I'll work on adapting my existing coin program over to the 900.
Very happy and satisfied with my 800. I think I will wait until they put the next 3 on the market at the same time to think about upgrading
LOL no kidding, I'm still wondering they did that it just confused people.
Thanks SCOTT, for the comparison ,you may or may not remember me, I’m from OKLAHOMA, and you’ve texted me several occasion’s, anyway my wife just bought me a new 800 for Christmas, the 900 was released two days after she purchased it, any way, we have moved to the great state of Maryland, now live on Kent Island. We might run into you someday.Thanks. Again
Hey Robert welcome to MD and Kent Island is beautiful place to be. If you haven't opened it yet you might be able to trade it.
There is a few reasons why I would buy this one. Shaft is one. Target id. Red light as I like that one the vanquish 540. more setting to mess with then the 600. and well I could probably say more. Now I am just waiting to see what others say over time. I just love this hobby and If I could own 1 of every detector that would be awesome. Thanks For sharing.. See ya soon.
Well said and thank you for watching!
Looking forward to buying the 900
Hey Chuck I think Fort Bedford may have a few extra coming in. Give them a call.
Did they boost power? Is separation any better? If not the only difference is 99 VDI a flashlight vibrating handle and a red screen. I would hope they booster power since it should have a better processor???
You will get some more power and get a little deeper but the separation is better as well.
That was great. That really helps,,,Thank You,,,
You're welcome!
Thanks for all of your excellent videos and for not preaching or editorializing about one detector vs another detector or manufacturer.
Are the 11” coil ears different and doesn’t the 11” have the threaded coil ear system like the Vanquish and GPX 6000. Also I think the keypad has a backlight.
Thanks Jeff and you are correct. The coil ears are longer and do have a threaded system and yes the backlight does include the keypad
It's hard to say without comparing them in the field, but there doesn't seem to be much difference between the 800 and 900, except for the expanded ID range. If you already have an 800, I don't see a compelling reason to upgrade to a 900, unless testing shows a big performance improvement.
Carbon fiber shaft, weight, additional sensitivity, faster processor, fixed waterproof issues, fixed coil ears breaking, expanded target ID up to 99, red backlight, vibration, flashlight, compatibility with all of the original 800 and 600 coils... sure seems like they did a lot IMO.
Great video....for your opinion the performance of this 900 are really best of the 800? Thanks good day
The 900 will be better overall with depth and separation.
Thanks for the comparison !
You bet!
Don't forget to put some red window tint on the nox 800 😉
LOL I didn't think of that.
@@MentalMetal I am going to pattern it so no one can copy lol
Did minelab change the hook up on the coils for the new 900 or manticore from the 800. I just hate buying a new coil just because they changed the plug
the 800 and 600 coils can be used on the 700 and 900. The newer coil ears are wider but the old ones still fit the 700 and 900. The Manticore is different all together.
So people actually like the red backlight idk why but hurts my eyes wish it was optional.. Happy with the legend so don't know why I even bother commenting lol just curious
Well I appreciate the comment :-)
So pretty much not much internal upgrades. But the otter look got changed more. So it wouldn’t be much of a upgrade moving from the 800 to the 900.
ahhh I think there is a little more going on under the hood. Better separation and depth is also what I'm seeing.
I have a chance to buy a 800 brand new in the box for $500.. should I get it?
If you got the 900 instead you would be able to use all of the Equinox coils and you shouldn't have to worry about it leaking. But the Equinox 800 new in the box is pretty good buy. Tough call for me on that.
If you detect in the water, I would go with the 900. They supposedly fixed the leaking problems. You have some additional features and a carbon fiber shaft. I really like the 900.
@@MentalMetal appreciate the reply👊🏼☕️
Let there be light. Thanks.
a red light haha
Rock-a-bye baby on the tree top......lol sorry, hence why this is my backup machine.....
Not worth upgrading to the 900 from the 800 then should’ve just called it the 800 mk 2
Some would disagree. I like what they have done with the 900.
I really don't see any thing that is going to help from the 800 to the 900
Then stay with your 800. Its a great machine too. For me, I like all the upgrades and feel its the Nox it should have always been.
