And of course you can run Ability Shield on a Pokémon relying on their ability to win the matchup against opposing Weezing. ^^
I did not kow Illuminate got buffed, granted it is now the exact same thing as Keen Eye and the saddest part is Watchog gets both Keen Eye and Illuminate. @scrunkore I do not think they will swap them since they haven't swapped Delibirds abilities and they have Insomnia and Vital Spirit which both have the same effect
All beam moves would be nice too. For light moves things like dazzling gleam, flash, light of ruin, prismatic laser and flash cannon. And then beam moves like Aurora beam, ice beam, signal beam, steel beam and solar beam

Illuminate should increase damage of light/beam moves AND all Pokemon on field's evasion is ignored (kinda like No Guard which everyone on the field can use the effect). Keen Eye can then be differentiated by boosting the damage of no-miss moves. Being able to always hit opponents in semi-invulnerable state might also be nice in story mode.
The Pixie Plate is linked to Arceus and the Fairy type was the only type that didn't have its own version of those items. Fire has Charcoal, Water has Mystic Water, etc. etc. but Fairy type, since its introduction in 2013, has never had such an item. The plates are a one-and-done type of item usually. So you only have access to 1 plate per type depending on the game, and the intent is more directed towards having an Arceus hold it. So no, it's not useless or redundant, it's actually weird that they haven't given us this item like 10 years ago.
I adore the nicknames you give your mons. I've accidentally copied some of your puns when naming mine because of how good they are, they just stick around in my subconscious 😅

Having to ask your opponent if they're using a particular item is like some weird spot between regular rank queue and proper tournament play. The latter has open sheets typically after all
Ability Shield is also useful for mons with Flashfire and other neutralizing abilities. Because say you use a really powerful fire move from a mon and you try to Skill Swap with the other it neutralizes that swap.

Sorry they are just so underwhelming rn 😭 I'm praying they get an ability update on their return swapping one of the two identical abilities for No Guard. Imagine 100% accurate hypnosis...
Imo if the ability cannot be skill swapped then it shouldn't be neutralized by Neutralizing Gas (i.e. Form Change of Aegislash, Zero to Hero and Commander - you can't skill swap them but for some reason Commander ability is neutralized). I belive its a bug, similar to how Order Up used to give boosts despite hitting Protect. I hope they patch it.
Skill Swap has a more restrictive set because it gives a different Poiémon the exclusive Ability. Suppressing or removing an exclusive Ability runs into less issues than granting a different Pokémon the Ability. So Commander makes sense to be supressible since it's not a form change Ability or anything that can really break while inactive. But Pokémon other than Tatsugiri shouldn't be able to enter Dondozo's mouth, so no Skill Swap.
I still remember the time when switching my koffing out used to give wild Zacian attack boost. I do not get it tho why they couldn't have kept supersweet syrup or the shield/sword abilities to reactivate in battle, could just have removed neutralizing gas reactivating them if that works for embody aspect already.
2:10 They probably did it so we can have no Arceus in upcoming games with Fairy Plate being kept exclusive to it. 6:45 Tbh, joins in ranks with Delibird. I do hope they take one of those redundant abilities off those Pokemon and actually give them something meaningful and original. 7:00 Also that's another useless ability down. Now we only need Run Away to actually allow escaping Mean Look and Shadow Tag.
they should make illuminate increase accuracy and decrease evasion instead. makes sense for increasing accuracy since the opponent cant hide, and decreased evasion since the opponent can see you even more clearly.
Honestly, it would have made more sense for Illumintate to lower the accuracy of the oponent. Basically an innate Bright Powder, which could make more pokemon more useful
So Illuminate is now basically Keen Eye? They are both too situational and doesn't impact competitive plays much, especially when the user can have different ability. No Guard is superior, even though it has the drawback.
I'd quite like to hear what "hidden" battle effects have had the biggest impact on the competitive scene, based on what you were talking about at the start

I love that they made the fairy feather such a challenge to get, and then in the Indigo Disk DLC they made it a drop from the item-creating machine, I have like 8 of them now
Similarly to the point at 3:57, very rarely, people could frisk the fairy feather and not know what it does
So were getting a dipplin evo in blueberry academy? Siiick so everyones speculations were right!
Illuminate got buffed to becoming brand renamed Keen Eye, in the gen Foresight also has become an ability.
Rip Illuminate
Rip 🫡
It would've been interesting if illuminate allowed you to switch out of Shadow Tag and Spirit Shackle.
@@BramLastnameWhy can't Run Away do that? It still doesn't have an in-battle effect.
@@olafmikoaj3121 I agree, Runaway should allow you to switch out,
But I think Shadow Tag and Spirit Shackle specifically make sense to be countered by illuminate if nothing else.
@@BramLastname
Or alternatively, given the name BRIGHTpowder, Illuminate making the Pokemon bright could just be Brightpowder as an ability.
Forcing every attack to have an accuracy debuff just by existing would finally give people a reason to run it over any other ability they get.
I learnt something new about Illuminate.A bit disappointed to be honest I was hoping for lowering Special Attack on both opponents on entry like Intimidate. Also they havent buff Run Away yet it should be like a built in Shed Shell and ignore any kind of trapping effect. like Fire Spin, Whirlpool, Sand Tomb and yes even Heatran's Magma Storm. Yes Im tired of Magma Storm Heatran trapping pressure.
100% agree about run away!
i got jumpscared by rejuv crescent theme in the background lmao
not the context i was expecting it in
😂 such a good theme!
@@foofootoo hits different when I'm not being obliterated by a gothitelle over and over
3:40 not 1 opponent has EVER asked me in a serious match “what item are you holding” and why would I ever answer or ever feel bad about not answering when my opponent is asking for information they need to figure out themselves
9:45 this is probably a bug
It would be a game changer for weezing if this was changed to activate multiple times!
@@foofootoo true and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was indeed a bug given the fact that Dundozo ability was bugged for a couple of tournaments before they fixed it
Fairy Feathers can be found in the Indigo Disk overworld.
I got the fairy feather from the item printer yesterday. I was confused, because I didn’t know they had added in another new item.
I think the Fairy Feather is just future proofing for games without Arceus as a transfer exclusive mon, since the gems are no longer in the game and every other type got the same kind of item in Gen 2. It is also now more widely available with the Indigo Disk's item printer, it feels like it would be a work around also sicne the only way to get the plates is through the special auction, which requires you to transfer in Arceus
Lapras can now use an eviolite. Hope to see that evolution soon
Neutralize gas should work on the steeds from calyrax. If I spelled it correctly
Good news: the fairy feather can now be obtained through the item printer.
Want to mention another regularly missed one. Steely Spirit on Perrserker now boosts his AND his ally's steel moves instead of just his own.
Is sea incense, wave insence, mystic water, or splash plate better
Kind of wish the Loyal 3 could use the masks they stole or at least given them some buff
Just a couple more days til Indigo Disk, hoping for more interesting or unexpected buffs to feed the foo memes! 😍
Also, props for Serving Face as a nickname. I would also accept Mask 4 Mask 😂
Mask 4 Mask 💀
I got the fairy feather in Kitakami when the first DLC came out and I thought it was in the older games already, considering I started with Gen 8
If dipplin evolution actually have the bug/dragon type the only way it could work is a support pokemon
The combination doesnt give you that much of a offensive type cause bug and dragon dont have that much supereffective hit and mostly neutral
It hit grass, psychic, dark, dragon for supereffective dam and resist by steel, fairy and neutral to other 12 types
Defensively it weak to ice, flying, fairy, dragon, rock but resist water, 1/4x grass, fighting, electric, ground
It could have a powerful ability or an amazing movepool to make it good offensively with that typing still... Very interested to see how it turns out
@@foofootooimagine it gets Skill Link Pin Missile/Bullet Seed/multihit Dragon move/Dragon Dance lol
watchog has done nothing to deserve such slander! Hopefully they'll get a new ability some time in the future.
Sorry they are just so underwhelming rn 😭 I'm praying they get an ability update on their return swapping one of the two identical abilities for No Guard. Imagine 100% accurate hypnosis...
Les goo more videos from foo
Imo if the ability cannot be skill swapped then it shouldn't be neutralized by Neutralizing Gas (i.e. Form Change of Aegislash, Zero to Hero and Commander - you can't skill swap them but for some reason Commander ability is neutralized). I belive its a bug, similar to how Order Up used to give boosts despite hitting Protect. I hope they patch it.
I don't, Dondozo blows to play against
Skill Swap has a more restrictive set because it gives a different Poiémon the exclusive Ability.
@@TheRedSmarty I agree.
Just a minor correction but dipplin does evolve, the data for its evo was likely in the game but not available
You can get the fairy feather through the item printer now if y'all also suck at ogre ousting
I still remember the time when switching my koffing out used to give wild Zacian attack boost. I do not get it tho why they couldn't have kept supersweet syrup or the shield/sword abilities to reactivate in battle, could just have removed neutralizing gas reactivating them if that works for embody aspect already.
Now i really need to find my switch
I am commenting to increase engagement metrics
ty!
Great video, good job Foo.
Thanks!
So Illuminate is the Walmart No Guard?
Walmart Keen Eye
2:10 They probably did it so we can have no Arceus in upcoming games with Fairy Plate being kept exclusive to it.
6:45 Tbh, joins in ranks with Delibird. I do hope they take one of those redundant abilities off those Pokemon and actually give them something meaningful and original.
7:00 Also that's another useless ability down. Now we only need Run Away to actually allow escaping Mean Look and Shadow Tag.
Also in open teamsheet someone may not know what fairy feather does
i knew about the fairy feather i just didnt know how to get it
they should make illuminate increase accuracy and decrease evasion instead. makes sense for increasing accuracy since the opponent cant hide, and decreased evasion since the opponent can see you even more clearly.
Watchog is an old school Pokemon now? Geez im old, and im only 18 1/2 wtf
Dexit in gen 8 hastened the aging of deleted mons lol
Honestly, it would have made more sense for Illumintate to lower the accuracy of the oponent. Basically an innate Bright Powder, which could make more pokemon more useful
love me some foofoo like tofu
With VGC having open team sheets the whole tricking but not not lying about items won't get much use.
So Illuminate is now basically Keen Eye?
They are both too situational and doesn't impact competitive plays much, especially when the user can have different ability.
No Guard is superior, even though it has the drawback.
Yeah or compoundeyes - increasing accuracy is better than preventing reduced accuracy
I'd quite like to hear what "hidden" battle effects have had the biggest impact on the competitive scene, based on what you were talking about at the start
Maybe the hidden terrastalization boost to moves under 60 BP ?
I legit CANNOT believe they finally buffed Illuminate and they just made it a Keen Eye clone... when abilities like Good as Gold are allowed to exist.
Game Freak are ruthless.
lol yep it's pretty lame
We only noticed that the field effects from Abilities no longer work. Abilities basically work like in RS and FRLG. The wild Pokémon getting variety is gone.
kinda don't need them anymore with the meal powers
@@scrunkoreThat is not even hunting.
You can get fairy feather in the master ball printer machine
I used fairy feather on a Tera fairy draining kiss espeon
I always get so thrown off hearing Rejuvenation/Reborn music outside of those games. Fantastic games.
I finally finished Ogre Oustin normal mode I had to make a group to beat normal mode but I got the Fairy Feather
Pixie plate increases by 20 not 50
Illuminate went from top 5 worst abilities in the series to maybe being viable in hackmons.
uh, i got a fairy feather down by the fairy crew's base. ogre ousting isn't the only way to get it
I don't really see anything wrong with lying to your opponent. It's just part of the mind game.
That's fair, I can understand that
Does sweet syrup refresh on weezing switch out?
Unfortunately not it's once per battle
