Could be a compliment because the mayor really didn't like the word, Jolly and also because they live in Halloween town plus the mayor did admit he didn't like Christmas and specially said: i knew this christmas thiing was a bad idea
Halloween town has very different standards of beauty, I imagine. If your ugliness makes you scary, then that’s good. In Santa’s case, Oogie Boogie thought he was JUST ugly.
In the world that Oogie Boogie comes from ugly and disgusting and rotting is hot ...even Jack saw Christmas Town as bizarre, confusing, and creepy at first.... hell his interpretation of stockings was live snakes
I've never heard someone put that much passion in his voice while singing as this man. He went all out for that song. Edit: People in the comments are bringing up other songs. Yes, I agree all those songs ALSO have emotion. I phrased my comment wrong, I got it.

What I love is being able to watch his facial expressions. He has so much fun with this song. You can't really get that playfulness from a burlap sack.
Well Oogie does have facial expressions and it must have been hard to do with a puppet that has no eyes, but you do know when Oogie's having fun with the way his eyes are, like Jack really. Danny and Ken both sing with emotion so you can tell how they're feeling when they're singing for their characters, but I agree, watching Ken be Oogie on stage is more fun I think because it's like he IS Oogie right there and then and you just see all the fun he's having. x3 The sass and the confidence just shoots out of him and really does make you smile xD I smile every time I watch this clip. You can't help but laugh when he gets into his jazzy bubble and starts doing his thing XD
Sorry for that earlier post. I accidently send a reply. touch screen and I don't get along sometimez, but other than that I love this song and the performance was great.
People yell about pulling out phones during concerts and shows saying "just live in the moment" but we wouldn't have this without people who want to record the moment. This is fantastic and I'm so glad they recorded it.
I'm not. We could easily have this memory without UA-cam. Easy. The theater sells tickets, these pieces of paper you buy with money....then they let you in the room with the performers, that's actually where it was filmed from. Some people want to see the show and not some idiots phone in front of them. Money was exchanged, so i can understand that point of view. Try for yourself. You'll be blown away and think you yourself, "that asshole on the internet was right and i should really do this more!" It won't take long, I'd say 5 minutes into your desired attraction takes the stage.....and right after you get that final level of excitement and settle in to enjoy your evening....some of the crowd starts talking and pulls out their phone. These people do this for a living. It's a performance.
@@supabwad1738 Because everyone can attend every concert, always. Everyone has the time and disposable income to drop everything and travel all over the country, if not world, just to see someone perform live. Ah yes, I really should spend hundreds on plane and concert tickets because that's how much five minutes of enjoyment are worth. Thank you for opening my eyes, asshole on the internet.
Listen to the crowd, look at the orchestra's smiles, look at the energy and emotion he's putting into his performance and how it affects everyone around him. That, my friends, is charisma.
Give that man a standing ovation! Over here in Saint Louis we get to see him in one summer stage show a year at The Muny in Forest Park, Ken Page is a Saint Louis institution in himself! I like how he switched some lines but it still made perfect sense lol.

The fact that Ken Page also played Old Deuteronomy in Cats just is so amazing to me. The difference in characters really shows his prowess as an actor.
“It’s much more fun, I must admit, with LIIIIIIVES on the line!!” I just love the way he sings that line! Such a spectacular performance in the soundtrack and live!! He really gives it his all! So talented and clearly he has such a warm soul I was kinda sad when Oogie Boogie died in the movie not gonna lie 😂 he just seems like such a loveable baddie!!
Wow brilliant nightmare before Christmas was the first DVD I bought as,a join Christmas press for me & my son wen we got our first dvd player.. still live it but this live is,so great...
Ken Page is quite the singer for years, back when the first time. He used to be as The Walrus in Adventures in Wonderland, and in 1997 Universal Studios film of Cats as well. If you don't remember waiting that, I would recommend for you to watch that.
I loved this movie, Nightmare Before Christmas and enjoyed the songs. The first DVD I bought. Fun to see who sings. I liked the oogie boogie character.

Man, over the course of 25 years he never lost a fucking *drop* of the character. So much passion and talent.
Ikr, he is so awesome
If anything he got better!
I think because so much of Ken is in the character. Other than the fact that Oogie Boogie is totally evil and Ken Page is a super nice guy.
IKR?
It’s insane to be able to keep a voice for 30 years, it’s really impressive

TheChildofAuraReborn it’s the original actor. But he puts more emotion now than when the movie came out
TheChildofAuraReborn Ken was originally a stage actor. I loved him in cats. Now I wanna watch both movies.
He also does the voice of king gator in all dogs go to heaven
I'd give a like but it be 665👿

This is one of the best performances I've ever seen, ever. And it looks like he really enjoyed doing it.
That song must be funny as shit to perform.
He must love that role if he keeps coming back to voice Oogie Boogie in everything
He does?
@leoeoeoeoe are you OK ?
The fact that he loves doing it is what makes it extraordinary
I love that even the musicians are smiling as he performs.
Most of them probably grew up with this movie. Nostalgia is a helluva drug
little did i know danny was into weird science before he went into voice acting
Me: I’m bored and can’t sleep
UA-cam: Wanna see a 4 year old video of Oogie Boogie singing live?
Me: do you even have to ask?
Tell me about it 😂😂 its 3:45am

heard him as Deuteronomy and realized...the cat had alzheimers
Oh I've searched for this at 5.40 AM haha
I just finished up halloween town on Kingdom hearts. i've been in the mood for this for the last few hrs
Omg, he still sounds exactly like Oogie. My childhood T_T

I just realized that he looks at the conductor when he said "He's ugly"
He did!!! That was great!! I always loved the way he did "he's ugly" in the song, and he did it perfect here and didnt change it, I screamed.

ken pages voice never changed from the film song
1st Doctor neither did Greg's, Danny's, Catherine's, or Paul's.

No one else in this entire galactic universe and 10 yards past that could sing this song or play this character except Ken Page
maha77 perhaps Screamin' Jay Hawkins but that's about it
You need to listen to Voiceplay's version before you say that. Geoff Castellucci does an outstanding rendition with amazing range.

For those of you who don't know, he was Old Deuteronomy in Cats for 18 years on broadway.

This guy has gotta love the checks he gets from Disney
He has so much fun playing oogie
Has been like 20 years and he still does a fantastic job playing. He has not lost any part of the character.
I love how Ken Page embraces his most famous role and just has fun
Now that's a villain song... the way he simply devours the scenery. He loves what he's doing, and takes the audience for a ride.
Damn, he freaking killed it, and looked like he was having the time of his life too.
Scar’s “Be Prepared” and “Oogie’s Song” are how you set up villains!! Disney was killing it back in the early 90’s!
