They probably did.
Retakes and lots of practice lol
At 1:17 Winona Ryder is laughing in the corner
Ishan Jaiswal probably that, and a lot of them
WHEN HE LOOKS UNDER THE TABLE OMFG I’M DEAD
lol at first I thought he was looking for someone singing but then I just realized he's feeling the ghost move past him
@@rohunsaigal2576 - I think he's looking for a cassette player. The more expensive brands came with remote controls.
I know right lmao
The look on his face when he does it too funny. And again right before they sit back down. 😂😂😂😂
What’s funny about him looking under the table? I don’t get it, it just look normal to me?
I love how Beryl (the one with the bow-tie in her hair) is just going with the flow, just enjoying the whole experience.
the first lip sync battle, LOL!
My thoughts exactly!!!
Only Tim Burton would come up with this off the wall dance number
Star Child and make it work perfectly.
Star Child The fact that this isn't even the only one in the whole movie makes it better
He did it in Pee Wee too with the Tequila dance
Actually MJ is off the wall 😂😂😂
Seriously, how did this *entire movie* EVER work?
*dumps ice bucket and uses it as a drum in a confused manner*
That's my second favorite part of this scene
Manner.
Well they are in a manor and they are definitely confused...
Filip Zawistowski
I think that was the joke
@@pmarreck Getting the words "manner" and "manor" confused was part of the joke? Unless they have a really abstract sense of humour I doubt it.
I just saw Beetlejuice the musical and this scene was so well done! It was the best part of the Show!
Can we acknowledge the fact that Catherine O'Hara is a great dancer
Absolutely!
@P. R. Frfr
@P. R. I was thinking the same thing, she was perfect in this
I love her
Yeah
0:49 - He's actually the only one not possessed, but is just super into stuff like this
If I was a ghost or demon I would probably pull this shit too xD
MsClumsyAssassin ikr xD
hahaha...that's hilarious
MsClumsyAssassin same!
literally me
I would probably just sit in a chair with a pair of glasses on and read a book.whenever the dad or mom woke up I'd just grab a tea cup and make sipping sounds till they noticed, then say "Ello luv"
Nothing will ever beat the OG beetle juice
Their acting is amazing. The way they actually made look like they have no control of their bodies is incredible
"I would rather talk about......Day-o!!!!
Bea A dayyyyyyyy-oooo
Daylight comman they want to go home
Yes
Day! me say day me say day me daaaaay-oooo!
Daylight come and me wan go home
1:09 she’s totally feeling herself. 🤘🏼
she was feeling herself throughout the whole scene honestly
My FAVORITE part. She forgot to be scared and just flowed with it!
What a moment in film, this Beetlejuice. ❤
Hearing this song in the Beetlejuice 2 trailer brought back so many good memories of this scene.
...and the children sang it better than the original singer.
Not to me. It's NOT even the original song. They tried to slow the song down and make it spooky as if it's a freaking Horror film.
@@SportZFan4L1fe That's what I like best about that version.
@@Snobert99 It's not a "spooky" song for a horror movie, my guy. Just look at the scene here from the original movie to prove the point. There is no horror to be found. The characters are simply shocked more than anything.
@@SportZFan4L1fe I wouldn’t call it a horror film. It’s more of a dark comedy. It has very silly moments, but most of its humour is intended to be slightly disturbing, so it’s a dark comedy in my books. Not to mention the context of the song in the sequel.
Epic scene. Today's movies just don't compare with the 80s/90s movies
Agree nowadays movie s Special effects is like watching a freakin VideoGame. 80 s movies FX were way better. Believe it or not.
Kids today just don’t understand the talent that is Tim Burton
@@krammerarratia woah woah woah there were movies in the 90s that had SOME special effects
I agree too but it's about what movie they're making, if they're making a hero movie you can't do that without SOME special effects today is just amplified 90s special effects
80s 90s and 2000s movies are great.
MY CHILDHOOD IS COMING BACK FROM THE 80's TO Beetlejuice 2 :P
84 🙌 this is my top favorite.
One of the best dance scenes ive ever seen. She is living the song not dancing.
I used to be terrified of this video because of the shrimp hands and I thought they were possessed
You don't say?
😂
Dude have you watched the movie? They are possessed.
The shrimp hand were unnessecary. They shouldve ended the scene there
H Boy! No, because they were trying to scare away the living people, and spontaneously dancing was just the buildup
Beatlejuice renewed interest in Harry Belafonte's music. Great scene, great movie!
Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice
What struck me the most when I saw this as a kid (besides the horrifying ending) was how Catherine O’Hara showed she has some rhythm. I became a lifelong fan of hers ever since.
I swear. She was killin it
I was like oh she dancing dancing and her facial expressions LOL!!
@@zackmckenzie3582 Rip Glenn Shadix 😢 😢 😢 😢
This had to be one of the _MOST_ funnest scenes to shoot!! 😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
R.I.P to the author of this song who passed away today, it will be interesting meeting beetlejuice for him :D.
the author of the song did meet the beetlejuice cast...

@@shaleniravikumar8203 Thanks for the link
@@shaleniravikumar8203 that’s not what they meant 😅 they meant meeting beetlejuice because the composer died
When she hit that “come Mr. Tally man, tally mi banana” her body roll was everything 😩😂👏🏾🎯
She didn’t say that. She said “Oh Mr Taliban Hand Over Bin Laden”.

The call back to this scene in Beetlejuice Bettlejuice was brilliant.
Two call backs.
The funeral where the song is sang acapella.
Another lip-syncing scene, this time it's MacArthur Park.
This scene could have gone 3-4 minutes with ease. Such an organic shot. Nobody is quite on time and it all comes together perfect. Truly a masterpiece.
Fun fact, Burton had to be convinced to keep this in as he personally finds it unfunny and annoying.
kevin texter i thought it was hilarious and a perfect addition to the movie
Both of harry Belafonte songs were perfect for this film I found it funny and also catchy
@MrRandomTV1000 hack? No, probably annoyed after seeing the scene play out a dozen times, both filming and editing, not to mention outtakes and or resetting the scene, I can see how the scene would seem played out. Happens a lot. Especially on staged jokes
mightve been funnier if they sang it themselves
So glad he kept it it’s like iconic now I fucking love this movie
Has to be one of the funniest and well played scenes ever. If there isn't, there ought to be an award for Catherine O'Hara's performance. Never tire of seeing this again, and always brings joy...
RIP Harry Belafonte. All the little ones who didn't know who you were would forever recognize your voice and remember this song after this scene.
I was shown this song in third grade for music class I had no idea it was in this movie until I watched it for the first time yesterday it’s such a good song
Catherine O'Hara's got some serious rhythm! 🎼🎵🎶👏👍
:)
KEVIN!
She's a goddamn treasure.
Nah yes she does lol
As an adult now, you realize how amazing these actors are. As a kid, there's such a thing as too perfect... I enjoyed this scene for the music and the ending. Now I love everything about it.
Given the fact that I go to work before the sun rises, "daylight come and we want go home" perfectly describes every day at work.
I work nights so describes the end of my shift 😂told this to my boss that line and he laughed
I’m a tad ashamed of how many times I’ve watched this in a row.
Why?
Same here.Love the song and the scene, amazing
Everyone in this scene just nails it. It's one of my fav by far. Classic. Nothing will ever be made like this again....
Sooo true. This scene is just iconic. 💯💯
@@chasehedges6775 I love how Winona Ryder went from Beetlejuice as Lydia to Joyce byers in the series Stranger things
Yes, because this isn't a classic because of an inherent quality but because of the time it was released in. Anything other than this that's "like" it will never be able to get a favorable reception.
Case in point: Tim Burton's entire career recently. He has made movies that are much better than this and they get shat on.
Maybe in beetlejuice 2 in 2024 let hope
@@mechanicalmonk2020 I don't feel he's made "amazing" movies the last 20 years. This scene is iconic for its acting and the actors. Actors today are rancid nobody cookie cut California hipsters.
this would be a epic flash mob in a restaurant. please someone do that lol
Mr. Green if you type in beetle juice day o wedding dance there's loads of these 😂 quite funny Lol
Years ago we had several friends over for dinner and I played this video. Then I assigned them all a part to play - we were on the floor laughing hysterically!
Mr. Green
YESSSS
LOL
Oh please nooo. There is enough crazy men and woman in restraints and public places doing things
I have seen this movie like a hundred times...and I still maintain that Winona is not acting in that corner cracking up. This had to be funny as hell to watch from that corner. lol
This never gets old
1:41 never gets old! Lol ....very impressionable on a 10 year olds mind hehe
