that it is 1 order is not the problem. The problem is when the shipper or broker understates the payload weight when they tender the load on the loadboard. If it would be accurate you would obviously know or have a really good idea ( based on you knowing the rough empty weight or your truck and trailer) of if you can haul the load with legal weigh limits, which you agree to by accepting the load.

Back then the forklift drivers knew their product and the best way to load most trailers. Sadly today many forklift drivers don't even know what their pallets weight or how to arrange the load for a trailer.

It's up to you.. In my State we can purchase a 3000 lb overweight permit pretty cheaply. I picked up a 3 drop pool table load late on a Friday night.. they shut the gate to the plant behind me when I left. When I scaled I was over 2600 lbs on the rears (they'd stuck a big box of slate on the tail for Drop 1).. 1st drop was 800 mi away in Denver for Monday. Plant behind me was closed, Permit office was closed ... I wasn't waiting for the plant to open back up on Monday and my Company was Never the type to overload me. 2600 lbs represented about a 6 percent difference between legal weight and overloaded on the Tail tandems.. and since the State would sell me an overload/permit I knew I wasn't tearing up anyone's highway. I broke out my Atlas and picked a non scale route to Denver and since I only had 400 mi to travel each day it was pretty easy running. I solved a problem.. I didn't destroy property.. and I was DOT weight legal for 2/3rd's of my trip. I ran 2-3 loads/week at that Company .. so 100- 140 loads a year .. of those maybe 1-3 would have weight issues. Maybe 1 percent of my loads.. I hope you don't expect life to be perfect .. it never is. Just a word of perspective .. when you run 56 mph in a 55 mph zone .. you are "breaking regulations".. Pump the brakes on getting huffy about engaging in activity that doesn't harm persons or property.. and solves problems.

Now, I would agree that anything over 44500…I’ll sweat out total weight but , to my surprise, my 13 cascadia 125 midroof with a 2000 dry wabash, I could haul 46,600 before I had to worry about fuel levels. Just an fyi….that load weight is not unusual in these newer trucks but regardless…I don’t want over 44500 unless it’s absolutely necessary (or pays my company well enough for the extra fuel cost and headaches..lol)

The curse of the 53 foot trailer! Loaders routinely plan poorly and wind up putting too much weight on the rear. Here in Cali when I was driving, the smart operators would paint a line or post a sign saying "Load as 48' Trailer" or "Don't Load Past this Line" to keep the weight distributed. But 83,000 is 83,000! I picked up a Campbell Soup load that weighed heavy once. Went back to shipping office to tell them and they said I was crazy! Turns out trailer was loaded by 2 different shifts and they loaded not 1 but 2 pallets too much. I'm sure glad they apologized for their mistake! (Oh, wait, they didn't😵).

Fortunately, I’ve learned to NOT completely fill my fuel tanks before going to a shipper when the load info says the weight of the load is over 44,000 lbs. because sometimes they load weight doesn’t include the weight of the pallets.

They always act like you’re the problem but they’re the ones loading trucks illegally overweight.
I experienced this recently where a shipper loaded me 5,380 lbs overweight. They told me they couldn’t take any off because that’s what the customer ordered. I stood my ground and the manager told me “there are plenty of drivers that would happily take the load over weight and they load trucks overweight all the time” 😆
Bottom line is they ended up taking off two pallets of product but it was a huge hassle and cost me a lot of time.

The word for this video is "" hassle "". Hassle getting loaded. Hassle getting unloaded. For years many of us drove all night and had to lump the load. Lumpers never made sense either. Always wondered why the receiver couldn't just take the load off and count it, break it down and put it away. Isn't that part of warehouses? I'm being a little funny about this. I drove for 38 years. I tried to stay out of food warehouses. Everyone would say "" blah blah blah ""--""its your load "". No, it's your load. We're paid by the broker/ shipper to bring it here. Yeah. It's a good life. But, I'm semi retired. Be well and safe travels

Dam i hate it when that happens piss's me off when i have to go and have the company take some product's out to make it legal to haul. But it's a breeze when i haul heavy wide load's and they pay for everything. I am fixing to move a D11 Dozer and those thing's are freaking huge. And will require several trip's cause it's to wide to haul. If the load in the dry trailer is heavy i will take a day cab and haul the heavy load with that. And i will stay at hotel's. And if i have Jessie she will look for one's that has pool's and hell i do the same thing if it's just me. We just run the APU when we are about to go to sleep. We will have it on if we are watching movie's. And it does excellent charging the batterie's. And i think it was either Justin or Austin that left the light's on for the trailer. And they both thought i was in the truck. And i thought they was still doing what i asked them to. And i got in the truck the next day and was like WTH batterie's dead. And i was like got in the back turned on the Green Apu and waited for like 5 minute's. And it charged the batterie's good that the KW started quick. And i was like thank god for that thing cause i would be having to get somebody from the shop to come over to jumpstart. Good luck whoever win's the fuel card that would be handy to those that need's it. We don't need it and we got money and we get paid $$$$$$$ doing load's. And Jessie was like that's cool. She is making homemade burrito' casserole it's dam good making 3 cake pan's of it. Nana is helping also and so is Justina my middle son's GF. Him and my other 2 son's are on the way back to the company to drop off the lawn equipment and then head on back home. Ha ha at 42;28 u have the same Blu Tooth speaker i use all the time in the dump truck and dam cab cause they don't have blu tooth stereo's. And it belonged to my youngest daughter and she was like dam dad where's my boombox and i was like dammit left it in the dump truck. So i went to walmart and brought her another one. Jesse just set the stuff in the oven and it will be ready in 45 minute's. Nana was like glad u got a big oven to set 3 cake pan's in with no issue's.
