  • A first impressions and unboxing video of the new Hasselblad X2D - 100-megapixel camera. After falling in love again with photography because of the 907x the Hasselblad X2D 100C has an important role to fill for me. My canon EOSR just isn’t very inspirational and nice to work with. It’s solid but it’s nothing that gets the blood pumping. My I hope with the X2D 100C is that it will combine the love for the 907x and the functionality I need from the EOSR. Let’s go on a journey together and let’s see the result of the first baby step in my journey to fully understand the X2D. Is it a 8700 euro mistake or is it perfect?

Thank you for the kind words! You have an amazing camera. The 503 is a piece of art. I hope that I will own a 500 series Hassy too!

How many batteries do you have ? What’s best flash for x2d?

Hi! Thanks for the video! I love the camera myself (it's like going to a candy shop as a kid to shoot with it). However, I'm curious: do you turn on the camera when you import the images to phocus? How do you concretely import the files? I am trying atm but my camera doesn't seem to pop up in phocus automatically (but I'm new in Hasselblad, so probably me who don't know my way around just yet)

Oh man, 3:44, you read my mind. I will never understand, how manufacturers can make finding the firmware upgrades such a pain in the butt. Easiest (but still like in a maze) Nikon, Canon, Fuji, followed by Leica, worst of all Sony and OM (cam must be connected to computer, no in body updates). Panasonic and Pentax I don’t know.

I can wait for the X3D with focus on the eye and lossless compressed files like Z9 ☺

You've never experienced a hasselblad 100mpx MF camera have you? I use the H6d and I went there from Nikon via Fuji - stunning

If you decided to print said photo, would it be in high quality like on your 4k screen or would the photo loose qaulity .

With 100 MP & this massive sensor to work with there’s no quality loss when it comes to the picture quality when printing. I’ve printed a beach picture at 1.5m by 1m on canvas and it looks amazingly detailed! A good printer is crucial tho.

Nice video. I never heard anyone talking about X1Dii and X2D having very slow rolling shutter. It is so slow it makes this a niche camera with very speciality applications, like studio or tripod shots of slow moving subject matter. The image quality is so good tho. Enjoy your camera!

Good shout, As far as I can tell it's quite noticeable in electronic shutter mode (when not using lenses with the shutter inside).
And with me only using XCD lenses I didn't encounter problems so far with models that move around quickly?
I could try it on both the 907x and the x2d and see what happens? I presume this is mostly interesting for using vintage/adapted glass on the Hasselblad system. In your opinion: If I would cover this what scenario would you like to see?

@@AlexDerrick_DP I have tested experimented with my x2d and in natural light 0 banding with the e shutter. With artificial light dependent on the refresh of the light, there is no banding with 1/30th then above this it apears. I just checked again but yes. Also, you can decrease write time by using the lower quality 14bit when using e-shutter. This makes it fine in my case as I have native glass covering ranges I use strobes with. Outside it limits non native adapted to reflector use as e shutter at this stage does not fire the flash triggers.

Amazing that you don’t understand how to use a comma, but yet you’ve got a Hasselblad. Ah well I guess a few dorks slip through the net.

    • @anthonyrock5039

Interesting enough, I did not use the hasselblad strap for my x2d. I use an old strap from another camera but more for the sake of being more discrete. I do not want to advertise the fact that I'm using one. I like the simplicity of the one that came with the camera though. The other straps mentioned are "quite nice" though.
