Actually we have both - Pro here 35yrs in the game - Phase One is a bit outdated now - we sold ours and got a an H6D - and now even that is having its day - we also use a GFX100II for outdoor use and 400MPX when we need it - it is good but Hass is special. UPDATE Sept 2024 - we sold both our X2D series - but kept the 907xCVF100c - it is that special
At first I had a sharp regret not taking the IBIS. Since building a V kit my regret has disappeared and I'm glad I was silly enough to buy the pretty camera.
I had the opportunity to try the X1D 2. The images it made were the best I have ever seen and the camera was mostly nice to handle, however I did run in to some things to consider before buying. - This was the first high end mirror less camera that I have tried and I was somewhat disappointed with the EVF. For a camera with a sensor larger than full-frame, I have no idea, why they couldn't try making something bigger and more detailed. - The batteries had an o-ring which kept sliding off. - Editing the images through the Hasselblad software was ok, but not the best. I wish they had a more common RAW image format. - The lenses were extremely good, but I wish they could focus closer up(they now have a lens that can do macro). - While capturing images tethered I adjusted the White Balance of the camera. I then ran in to an issue, that made my images blue(couldn't be saved by post processing) this issue was resolved by factory resetting the camera. I wish that Hasselblad had continued to develop and produce the H system, which really differentiated them from other camera systems. From my view it doesn't make sense to buy in to the X or V system over a full-frame camera. I can only thank my university for their weird financial decisions and for giving me the opportunity to experience such a high-end camera, for which I am grateful. I would recommend the camera, but not for the price.
I've been taking photos from the waist all my life because of poor eyesight. That shutter button on the bottom of the camera frame, would be an absolute dream for me!
If you know from experience how to load a Hasselblad film back then you will probably appreciate the 907. But I suspect many DSLR/Mirrorless only photographers will simply not understand it. Hasselblad colours are there to get it right in your raw files rather than have the multitude of Fuji JPG film simulations.
Since I now have a classic 501C, for me the balance has shifted to the 907x combination.. though in reality, I'll likely be looking at the 50 Mp version in a few years when I can hopefully pick it up at a nice discount.
Hi Kai, very enjoyable video and funny. I like both cameras, they both take stunning images and that's what you want from a camera. Great photo pose Lok, thanks for sharing 😊
It supposed to have pistol grip. I had old soviet Hasselblad replica - it not only had pistol grip but also a stock to stabilize it against your shoulder.
I feel like the 907X CFV100C was designed especially to be used with the 500 series camera body and they just made the extra equipment JUST incase you wanted to use it independently. I don’t think it’s a good option to get if you don’t already have the 500 camera body to pair it with.
Pur amando molto i colori H, io mi esprimo principalmente in bianco e Nero, quindi mi chiedo se è possibile regolare lo schermo in modalità monocrome oppure no.
Quick tip for anyone considering the Hasselblad X2D based on sample images online: they're misleading. The reality is underexposed, dark shots requiring heavy editing. Switched back to my Leica M and couldn't be happier-superior straight-out-of-camera results. Highly recommend Leica M over the X2D for true photography enthusiasts.
Shout out to two girls speaking Russian in the labyrinth, Darina and Vika))))) One of them says: «Я здесь, Вика», which means “I’m here, Vika”. And of course, thank for the video itself! 😅
Hello Kai, Just like to say as some one who has both the X1D and the X2D, the switch to the X2D is well worth it. Yes the auto focus is still not as fast as either my Nikon Z8 or Z9 but these Hasselblad's are tools to do different jobs. The focus assit and menus system on the Hasselblad are far better than any other systems I have used or seen, The image quality just jumps out at you both on screen and in print. I have try the 907X and yes it has its use case but not for me.
Kai what jacket are you wearing? Also in terms of the cameras I think you def shoulda put more emphasis on the fact the 907x doesnt have IBIS which is huge! since id assume most photographers have gotten use to having some sort of stabilization on their cameras or lenses. This is even more important because the higher the resolution is the more camera shake becomes a issue. But forreal whered you get the jacket? lol
@@nelsonclub7722 it depends on what you are photographing tho. Off tripod with low shutter speeds IBIS saves you. Granted if you are shooting in a studio you will never use it but outside in the early or late hours it will give you more time to get your shots, So for some people like yourself you might not need ibis for what you shoot alot of other pro's like myself do on occasion.
Hopefully, one day, these kinds of cameras will go down in price to something that a middle class dude could afford...idk, maybe $3000-4000? Still expensive, but a splurge-able price.
If I won a small lottery ticket, I'd definitely purchase the 907X+CFV100C it's just gorgeous but the X2D is pretty nice looking as well though it does look quite bulcky compared to the 907xVWEDFgsdrfsertwgg-0000gwe (what's in a name :-)).
OMG, put a strap on that 907x! I was dying each time I saw it wedged between your bent arm and your body. Why, Kai, why? Is it because it's like a rental car so why bother being extra careful?
Swedish cameras sure sound heavy... *BaDumPumTissssh* Serisously tho I am curious how well the touch screens on cameras hold up (I'm skeptical), ex. I've fallen on my Nikon D300 and D700 going through rough/rocky terrain (nature/hiking) but it was all absorbed by the camera body or the added vertical grip, this didn't seem to do anything (luckily the lens' currently on the cameras at the time weren't too long/big) What I'm thinking is something like a touch screen would be much durable in a shake and shock situation. (I know people who buy Hasselblad don't take them hiking I'm mostly curious about the touch screens on pro camera's in general since I stopped updating my camera at the Nikon D800)
I will take the X2D which have EVF and IBIS ! The CFV lacks IBIS and it should have had a waist level finder with a great performing magnifying loupe. the CFV is too expensive and it should be possible to buy it without a camera body !
Ok ive used the 907x 100c for a little over 3 months now and lets just say the experience is horrible. As an early model variant mine has alot of issues from it freezing up occassionally to the system deleting your pictures on its own and even when outdoors forcibly jamming itself where it cant even open the damn lens, the last one is the worst because even taking out the battery is not a permanent solution. Tried to contact Hasselblad customer service and they ghosted me for months before saying "its normal operations and expect your pictures to be deleted automatically"..................... TF I have lost hope in this company now as a long time user of their products. In all honesty if yall read this and still want a hassy, just get the X2D and make sure its at leats at the 10k number as anything before may have early production issues.
And then I come with my Nikon D600, 24 MP, always down-sampled to 13.5 MP. Images upto 1 by 1.5 meters in size are never a problem. The majority of the hasselblad images end up on facebook or instagram, down graded to 0.6 MP.
vintage cameras are popping off right now, you should do some videos on the old stuff. Hollywood shoots 99% of everything in film for a reason. it just looks better. the digital stuff gets boring after a while, enough with the megapixes
Battle? Just buy both for when you can't be bothered to use your Phase 1.

Handing anything to Kai is pretty much writing it off. Hands like a surgeon.

Overpriced cameras aside. I can't imagine going back to a camera without IBIS. I've been spoiled
i used to say that.. also..

Haha I love how he casually wears the drippiest Stone Island
What a relatable video topic
Also, a I'd be fine with 40-50 megapixels. a 100 megapixel file after a few layers in photoshop will yield a 2-3GB PSD.

The cubic one looks like it catches ghosts (or Tripitaka's elemental pilgrims). Love the vintage-compatible modularity, though.
Great video as always Kia 😊

I’m interested to know when will digital cameras that call themselves medium format finally reach a real medium format in the size of their sensors?

Well, most Leica owners tend to say the opposite after trying out the hasselblas.
Sharp edges on X2D have scratched already((
Same that why I’m considering picking up the 907.
I like the red jacket! Who makes it?….never mind just found it. Very expensive.
Canadian. company?
So who makes it?
It's a stone Island jacket (Italian co) costs above 1000$.

Kai, what's the bag you are carrying? Pretty good looking.
Love the very end! ahahah
that;s what you get for using MAC software, a random, abrupt end
Such a strong camera could be used as a shoe, like in the good old Nikon vs Canon days.
I like your hat Kai where did you get it from? I also really like both of those cameras but I'm thinking I might be able to afford the hat.
Is it true that Hasselblad still demand payment for review gear, and that they’ll only agree to a review unit on the condition of positive reviews?
No dilemma, get the Fujifilm GFX with impressive performance and a great selection of lenses. Hasselblad belongs in some rich person's collection.
Not the same color science . You need more work in post with the gfx pictures to get this subtle personality
The viewfinder plays a big role to be honest
Bring back the goggle jacket! 🧥
hahahha. he's got great jacket game also
Kai should have leaned on the tipped phone booths for a portrait.
buy both bro
I now had to search on youtube how they put the ship into the glass. haha
No strap for Kai on that camera? Brave lads
no mention of weather sealing, that's a big negative of the 907x compared to x2d
I have no idea why they'd not have the x2d have a screen hinge that can go completely flat.
I have no idea about the purchasing capability of other countries, about the saying "5 out of 10 can afford x2d+55v" , is that real?
