Living in the USA but great nostalgia of a Lancashire childhood in the 1950s and 60s. Who would be the first to see the tower as we drove towards the coast. The excitement of visiting the illuminations and having the car break down on the journey home. Windy and wet days on the prom and walking for miles in crowds along the front. Rushing off the beach with the rented deck chairs when the tide was coming in. Donkey rides, penny machines and ice cream. Fish and chips in newspaper and staying in a caravan park ten miles from the beach. I can still remember the BINGO jingle calling people to take their seats to play. Would not change these memories for anything.
When the director Tim Burton visited Blackpool for scouting and filming ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ he stayed at the Big Blue Hotel as he loves the Pleasure Beach.
@@WalkWithMeTim Next time you’re up this way you should do two videos. One for St. Anne’s-on-the-Sea and one for Lytham.. soooo many people don’t realise they’re two separate towns.

I'm Andrew and live on a farm near Lincoln so not really too far away from you, so Blackpool is not a place I have visited for many years, I think it was 1995 so many things have changed. It has the best funfair in Britain, although I have little interest in the rides. The tower stands over 500 feet high, and there are three piers, many amusement arcades, and of course the tramway, although the modern trams are those that predominately operate, the ancient trams are very rarely used. Interesting buildings apart from the tower are the Winter Gardens, theatres, the Sandcastle Water Park, my favourites that are no longer there were the Derby Baths swimming pool, and the Stockingfeet Funhouse at the Pleasure Beach where you wore no shoes that was destroyed by fire and Valhalla was built on the site.
I did an ice skating competition it the winter gardens building when I was 10 years old (1995) it was my 1st competition away from my ice skating club (Alexander palace in london where the BBC 1st started 😁) and for some reason I've never gone back to Blackpool and still havent 24 years later.
