Thank you for your comment! This grip and series of throws from it have great functional use in any jacket and belt sport such as sambo or judo.

A tecnica é muito boa, mas os Judocas sao muito marrotados, olha o cara de Bermuda e Wagui 😂

Excellent stuff my biggest ippon came from makikomi i came in my oppoment was waiting for me after bottling it a couple of times. So he picked me up, clinging on i landed it behind his hips for the win the next contest was won very easy almost deffinatly because of that throw. Like lots of you're demos it is alot easier to take in and seens quite high percentage. I might consider adding the off to the side style as a back up system to my 4 in 4out system that beginng to work for me!!!

That's great to hear. I've been on both the receiving end and throwing end of Soto Makikomi in my career. I still remember getting hammered by that Soto Makikomi in 1968! It was in a final match of the Midwest High School Championships and the guy who threw me was a good judoka, but it was still embarrassing. Later, in 1975, I clocked a guy with Soto Makikomi in a local tournament that was probably one of the best Ippons I ever got on someone. So, yeah, Soto Makikomi is one of those throws that always stays with you. As far as the side variation, it does work quite well and has a really good success ratio-I recommend it. Thanks for your comments.

I agree with you dejan. American schools teach judo very differently than the rest of the world

@@damprag4732 There are more ways than one to do O Soto Makikomi or O Soto Gari. Makikomi describes the finishing action of winding or wrap around the body action when finishing the throw. Also, in many cases, a technique has elements of other techniques. The throwing technique presented in this video has elements of O Soto Gari and the finishing action of O Soto Makikomi. I chose to call it O Soto Makikomi and I stand by what was presented and what the technique was named. I also disagree with your statement that American schools teach Judo "very differently" than the rest of the world. I don't know what your experience is but I've traveled to quite a few places in the world including the Kodokan, to train, study and practice Judo during my career. The information and techniques presented on this channel represent this.

No your wrong I would only add that it's harai makikomi because of the leg being lifted but it is a makikomi

@@damprag4732 I'm from Australia and this is a makikomi and I've trained with former Olympians it's more of a harai makikomi but it's a makikomi

What is your response to the fact that if I was gripped this way I would drop a knee and hit Ko-soto Gari on him?

I looked over at what we might have on the Georgian Grip and found this video; Georgian Grip to O Soto Gari and Thigh Lift Throw. This has a good O Soto Gari using the Georgian Grip that you might like. Hope this helps.
