Your videos always put a huge smile on my face. Please take care of you and family during this time. Hugs to you.

idea for waterer...butterfly nets from a dollar store! we use it in our livestock tanks for hay, grain, bugs, alge, poop, birds(drown ones), even sand!. they can't handle much weight but the holes are small enough to get almost everything out of the water! every year we get at least 2 and they still work if the handle breaks since your bowls are shallower than a 1,000 gallon tank. I like the handles for the tank inside since I don't have to wait for it to be empty to scoop out the bottom muck from the horses(hay and grain). worth a try for your bowls exspecaly when you get super busy lambing or harvesting!

I know the safety of your sheep is your #1 priority, but you really need to bump yourself up from second place and share it with your sheep, so that the safety of every mammal in your barn (including YOU, Sandi, lol) is #1.
But yeah, I can see it's your natural to look out for everyone ahead of yourself. Good mom! 🐑💕🤗
And I love how the girls were crowding up to watch you put together that lambing pen! 🤣

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE EPISODES. I *SO* AGREE: EQUIPMENT MATTERS. THERE IS A TOOL FOR EVERYTHING, AND, THE RIGHT TOOL WILL SAVE YOUR BODY. PERHAPS, YOUR LIFE. I HAVE DEHORNED MY OWN THIGH, AND EMASCULATED MY OWN THUMB, BECAUSE, MY STEPFATHER DIDN'TBELIEVE IN EQUIPMENT. A HEIFER BROKE MY ELBOW, WHILE I WAS INSEMINATING HER, BECAUSE, I DIDN'T HAVE A HEAD CATCH, ON MY CHUTE. YOUR FARM IS A DREAM. (I STILL MISS MY FARM.)

I'm watching this video 5-4-21. I was thinking you should put another camera at the back of the barn facing the front but so you can see clearly the end of the area where they go to have babies away from the others. so you can see too if there is a baby or babies against the feeding trough side. I've been watching you now for a month and I love watching all of you. Jess is such a goof ball. Lol. And when I watch all of you I watch for hours and I mean hours. I got myself a laptop so I can see all of my animal video farms better. And Sandi your smile is very infectious.

Regarding ventilation/ air movement, are you looking for cooling or just circulation? Because of the large air space you have the large over head commercial fans will move more cubic feet per minute or you will need more smaller fans. Also something to consider is a rheostat to increase speed and thus more air movement if needed. The fan would have to be able to allow for this.

@Sandi Brock -Feed Cart. Notice that soot on the back of the feed cart. That's from the exhaust from the engine. It's going right up to your head. Recommend modifying the exhaust pipe to discharge further away somewhere. Like out the left side of the cart. Anywhere else where you don't have to breath the fumes. You may not smell it, but its there. You're lungs will thank you later.

    • @SandiBrock

@@SandiBrock At exactly @10:14 in the video. A thin black region extending from the top left of the engine (where the exhaust is), up behind the right side of the steering wheel and dissipates towards the top of the cart. If this is the result of scooping the wet feed in, then sorry for wasting your time. Watched enough of your vids to know you're busy.

I was raised on a dairy farm in central Iowa so I have always been interested in livestock production. I so much enjoy your vlogs. Had a thought as I watched today's vlog on the equipment you use, in reference to the clippers you use for trimming their hoofs, have you ever looked into a battery powered clipper? I have seen similar for tree pruners. With the number of sheep that you work in a day, might relieve tired -sore hands. Just a thought. Keep those vlogs coming!!

New subscriber here,, since you're talking equipment I was watching when you were teaching Jenn Your chores . for your giant tmr mixer you need a bucket on a pole like say 10 foot long ( or a giant long handle ladle ) throw your supplement powder into the giant mixer it only takes one time falling off that ladder to hurt yourself,, I was cringing watching her try to dump the 5 gallon bucket into the giant mixer on top of the ladder one handed.

    • @wildflower1397
      @wildflower1397 4 роки тому +1

I agree, needs to be safer. Tie a bucket onto a rope and pulley setup. You just raise the bucket like it's a flag on a pole. When it gets to the top, it curves around the wheel of the pulley and turns upside down. Easy peasy. :)

You all do have plenty of equipment for raising sheep and I never worked with them, but did work with cattle and hogs and know that you need special equipment for that job. The Bobcat and John Deere equipment is among the largest you have and is what everyone need for livestock. Since you all have an indoor operation it is important to have all the other supplies and tools needed to clean, and maintain your sheep.

Think about using dry lubricant on your equipment. It does not collect dust and dirt.on that hoof trimmer it would make turning easier. Try in other equipment.
Get a diamond file in garden center and give your trimmers a few strokes as you pick the trimmers up for use.
    Less musle

I don't know about nest cams but usually if you were to add a string of UV fluorescents like every third light and put it on a night only timer they add refractive light to most cam receivers, I use them for trail cams and the new trail cams already add UV l-e-ds to increase detail on pics. night light they don't see.

I love the Nanny system you have. I think it’s the best set up for lambs.
I have seen a stock trailer that’s a double decker for sheep. You should check it out.

I would suggest (if I may) a kind of air vents system in the highest points of the roof rather than fans, it will funnel out the ammonia and the whole of the bad smell in the barn and will create a fair bit current of fresh air circulation.

Nilcan Sucukları İlhan DEMİR ...your suggestion does make sense. Having incoming air sourced at ground level with the air exiting at roof. This is good for summer, but is it good for Canada winters.? Always good to think about making smart adjustments and I would rely on the Veterinarian for his/her thoughts. He/she, sees all the other surrounding indoor sheep farms and is full of information..! Good job..!
