  • COME FARM WITH ME!
Well, not just me... my entire family! I'm back for another month of daily vlogging.
There will be sheep, planting (both the crops, and the GARDEN), my kids, and whatever else gets thrown in the mix.
The thing about farming, is there is no pre-planning.
I mean, there is... but you have to be ready to change those plans.
So if you are ready for a little farming adventure... I'll be here!
    Today is all about feed.
Looking at my corn silage, I have to decide if I should open my last bag. This time of year I'm always scared I will run out of feed...
We are a month away from first cut hay.
I also took the time to show you how I clean out my Grober Eco2 Lamb Feeder.
And the kids helped me fill some dry corn bins.

All that spoiled silage you can use on your garden this year, rototill in directly. Or mix it with manure for next year, stir it a couple of times over summer, then lay it out to over winter in the garden. You'll have a great start for next year's garden.

We found it was worth trying a crop of yellow sweet clover just to get the jump on a new crop of timothy/alfalfa started. Yellow clover is biennial but tough as any professional boxer so gives that added protection for any new crop attempting to break through for its first years, even when harvested in its 1st, immature year. Roots and stubble still serve the necessary purpose for the wanted crop!😘🤗🤗🤗😁😎

Thank you for taking the time to share. I know it involves extra time and work, a tough combination for a very busy farmer. God bless you and all the farmers out there. A situation like we are experiencing now shows us how much we depend on you to keep the food supply rolling. We have shut down a huge packing plant here and it still has not opened back up.

I am learning so much from you Sandy. You explain things so well! I have no experience with anything related to agriculture so most of this is new to me. I am an RN in California. I have always been drawn to medical videos and vet videos... but ever since I found your channel I have branched into Ag channels. Yours is my most favorite channel. It started with the lambing but you have other jobs so you have led me into Ag! I love it. It almost makes me wish I had a do-over in life so I could have gone into Ag instead of medicine. Thank you for teaching and showing us the ups and downs of life. I look forward to your videos every day and when there is no new video I go back and watch older videos. I just cant get enough! Your smiling face keeps me smiling especially during this lockdown from the Covid-19 pandemic! I cannot tell you how much you mean to me... especially during this time!

Compose the corn silage if you can and use it in your garden once it's finished - it's a loss on animal feed, but not on plant feed!

I absolutely love your videos, if you had a nickel for every time you swing your leg over a panel, you’d be a millionaire. If you move the rams to the old cow barn, and they have access to pasture, get them a pet donkey. I caught an older video from New Zealand (I think it was), they used donkeys against the wild dogs, it was a wildly successful strategy.

I have an idea why you get spoilage at the end and maybe a better way to fix it. You take 2 boards and screw through the boards but you roll up and over which gives a chance for any water to run down the plastic between the boards and into the hay or corn silage how about rolling the boards down and under instead of up and over. I worked the flea market and tables never get wet that have the boards rolled under the tarp.

such a great video! I'm new to the channel and was wondering if you could do a video about the different breeds and the differences between them as well as if there are different market prices. If you can, thanks so much!

I really enjoyed all of the show and tell today. My favorite was your "hay" fields. As you pointed out and named the seedling coming up I learned that hay is not just some specific plant. I suspected that but still interesting. Then you went to the established field to show the size those are so far. Did those self sow or were they replanted also? It will be interesting to see Marc's crops at a mid-faze also. No need to go out of your way. I did bing watch Marc's channel last fall. So fun watching the December kids romping around.

It struck me yesterday, the four of you run a huge factory, but in some ways it seems more like a jail, as you are committed 24/7 /365 to keeping sheep alive. It is definitely appreciated by hungry people, but the thought had a weird impact on me. I really enjoy the learning experience and think Sandi is an awesome video personality, so I have been watching consistently since subscribing.

    Hello Sandy,
I know it’s a 4 years old video, I just happened to watch it now.
It’s known that mold causes abortion to sheep and other animals. So for the cheap price of losing a few bales, you can risk your entire crop of lambs.
    Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Sandi I am such a fan. I follow you on Instagram as @Lalindy129. Vlogging was the best thing to do! Through this quarantine, my mother has said "Thank God for Facebook, Instagram and You Tube, otherwise I would have felt so alone!" She is right, through social media we are able to stay in touch with family and friends and be in contact and interact. We are also able to create new friends via Vlogs (like what you do) and connect to the outside world and this connection helps us to make new friends who share the same interest, get the support we need that we might not get through our surrounding relationships, and still live in society and not feel isolated and alone. It is a life saver of sorts! Love your videos!!
