God is strong enough to tell them to not worship any other gods, which was a very common occurrence that they accepted, but not enough to not keep slaves. Yeah, checks out. 🙄 Also, is the part in the New testament telling slaves to obey their masters from Peter, not Jesus?
Yes (but what Jesus is recorded as saying is that he comes not to change the law but to fulfil it, and thus not an iota of the law will be changed until all these things have come to pass. So he quite clearly agrees with slavery too).
Christian justice is rather peculiar. If someone is guilty of a crime, then some other innocent person must be tortured and killed. And it doesn't matter what crime. It could be a white lie or a mass murder. The important thing is that somebody paid the price; anybody, preferably someone good.
This is so incredibly frustrating. Nick believes that without ultimate justice you "have to accept the world is filled with injustice". You don't "have to accept it". You can work to improve it! By believing that God will sort it all out, he only allows himself to do nothing to improve the world and feel like he isn't complicit. This is one of the biggest harms of theistic belief.
I feel that religion, particularly Christianity and Catholicism, has wrongfully taught its listeners two things: Give the Glory to God or It's the work of the Devil. There is no such thing as human accountability with any of these belief systems.
At 24:30, I think the writer, translater or whatever, of the words supporting slavery didn't have the knowledge given to him by the spirit, it was just what he believed.

A great call. Everybody should listen to it. This is why I am grateful that I am not a Christian!!!
Astonishing stupidity

God is all powerful, the Bible is the word of god.
Why is that? Because the Bible itself claims it so?

God bless, Jesus saves my friend. John 3:16-18
How do you know? Because the Bible claims it?
The very premise that god re-created himself, to sacrifice himself to himself, to appease himself as a loophole to break the rules that he himself created, just to save his “creation” from the "sins" of their ancestors who did not have the "knowledge of good and evil" to even know what committing a "sin" was because accessing that knowledge to make a “moral” decision was the “original sin” itself… and all that somehow required substitutional atonement through sacrificial blood magic as the only possible solution to “save” us from what could only be “god’s™ plan©” that he intentionally created to be this way from the beginning, just to later individually pick who he wants to be "saved" anyway… it's just undeniable gibberish from a logical reasoning perspective. And yet the wilfully, blindly faithful sheep will claim that god is the source of all logic.
"god bless" and "jesus saves"... What robust and safe space inducing thought ending clichés you have there! Would it be so difficult for you to use skepticism to determine what verifiable facts contradict your assertion as well as those that support it so that you could then use logical reasoning to come to a rational, justifiable conclusion instead of just asserting whatever your "feelz", or the profiteering apologists, keep telling you "must" be "common sense" that so very conveniently happens to prop up your narrative? Or is that too much of a risk to that self sustaining safe space in your own mind?
"I don't have a problem with ignorance. We are all ignorant about a variety of subjects we are not currently aware of. The real problem is when that ignorance is wilful, intentional and used as a weapon against anyone who disagrees with you, or anyone who has the nerve to present facts you don't want to accept."
