Seeing other people be clueless about Pokémon makes me nostalgic for when I used to be clueless about Pokémon Without how jaded a portion of the fandom has gotten it’s nice to see new fans get sucked into the whimsy and wonder which is what made Pokémon so unique and special to begin with that those jaded fans forgot about
I know rhis is from 2 years ago, but It just appeared on my feed... And it's so rare to find people that are playing pokemon for the first time that i's so exciting at the same time!
The chat was so bad at explaining this game this is so painful 😭 during that first barry/sky fight all someone had to do was tell you that you can use a turn to heal your other party members that aren't currently in battle. So that's what they meant by sacrifice Shinx and heal Bidoof. Either heal Bidoof on the turn where you put in Shinx (would only have worked if Shinx didnt die in one hit) or heal Bidoof on the turn you swap him in after Shinx fainted, because if you switch in a pokemon after one faints then the opponent DOESN'T get a free turn to attack. *Edit nvm someone did explain the switch in thing, still the knowledge that you can heal other members wouldve helped lol
*Starley used Growl* *Piplup's Attack fell* "What does Growl do?, I'll just try it" *Piplup used Growl* *Starley's Attack fell* "What does it mean?" "Oooh, it lowers defence, got it, got it!" Me: @_@ "No, dear, no, I don't think you do got it..." :I
The Red Gyarados from the beginning is actually encountered in the Johto Region (Gold/Silver). The events there happens to be taking place at the same time as your Adventure in Sinnoh (Diamond/Pearl).
its always amazing to see someone experience the franchise (or even just the games, themselves) for the first time. pretty magical, and kinda lets ya relive the magic of our own first times a little.
A lot of contradictory information was given by the chat here, so I’m just going to go ahead and explain how Pokémon stats work in case anyone wants to know. Pokémon have six stats: HP, Speed, Attack, Special Attack, Defense, and Special Defense. There are two different types of Pokémon moves that do damage: Physical and Special. If you look at the info for the move, it will tell you if it’s Physical or Special (or if it isn’t a damage-dealing move) as well as what type it is, how accurate it is, and (if it’s a damage-dealing move) how much power it has. When you select a move, the turn begins, and (in the absence of anything else in play that might affect move priority) the Pokémon with the highest Speed gets to move first. If the move used is a damage-dealing one, then the power of the move is modified according to either the Attack stat (if it’s a Physical attack) or the Special Attack stat (if it’s a Special attack) of the Pokémon using it. And, if the move is of the same type as the Pokémon using it, then its power will be increased by 50%-this is called same type attack bonus, or STAB. Also, the accuracy of the move has to be taken into account; and, if it manages to hit the opponent, then the damage dealt is modified according to either the opponent’s Defense (if it’s a Physical attack) or Special Defense (if it’s a Special attack), as well as the opponent’s type(s) (and other potential factors that might come into play as well). There are 18 Pokémon types, and they interact with each other in different ways: Some have immunities to certain others, some are weak to certain others, some resist certain others, and some are just neutral to certain others. And every Pokémon has either one or two types. And, if a Pokémon gets hit by an attack of a type that its type is immune to, it won’t take any damage; if it gets hit by an attack of a type that its type is weak to, then it takes double damage (unless it’s a dual-type Pokémon and both of its types are weak to the attacking type in question, in which case it will take four times as much damage); if it gets hit by an attack of a type that its type resists, then it takes half as much damage (unless it’s a dual-type Pokémon and both of its types resist the attacking type in question, in which case it will only take one quarter of the damage); and, if its type is neutral to the attacking type, then no type-based modification is applied to the damage dealt. And, of course, a Pokémon is defeated when it takes enough damage to run out of HP. It’s considered fainted and can’t battle any more until/unless its HP is restored by items or a Pokémon Center. And a battle is lost when all of your Pokémon are fainted. Non-damaging moves can do any number of different things, but the most common ones are stat-modifying moves that can help you by either lowering your opponent’s Attack, Special Attack, Defense, Special Defense, Speed, or accuracy or boosting your own. And each of these stats can be modified up to either plus six or minus six; and, for each plus or minus two that’s applied, the stat in question will be either doubled or halved. But these modifications will be lost not only when the battle ends but also if the Pokémon that has had them applied to it is switched out during the battle.
One small correction. For stat increases it’s actually a 50% increase per stage. So +2 stages is doubled and +6 stages is quadrupled. And for Accuracy and Evasion it’s a 33% increase. So +3 is doubled and +6 is tripled. It’s the inverse for decreases. -1 is a 33% decrease and -2 is 50% for stats other than Accuracy and Evasion. Accuracy and Evasion are half at -3 and 1/3 at -6.
This popped up on my feed 2 years later, i am playing Pokemon brilliant diamond for the first time (ive played maybe 1 hour of it before dropping it) and i love watching other people learning how to play along side me! I have played all of Pokemon Violet which was my first ever time playing a pokemon game. Excited to watch you play :)

Never seen someone overthink stats in Pokemon before. My fiance and I are super jealous that you're a grown ass woman and trying Pokemon for the first time. I got Red when I was 4 and have been hooked since. I would love to play Pokemon for the first time again. Enjoy the game I'll be following along in the views :D
I really really hope you post the other vods, I tried to follow along on twitch but I'm late and it's vanished Dx This was a really wholesome blast of a time !! It's so nice seeing a new player learn everything ^___^
I really wish that these pokemon games let you choose who you start with in a battle instead of automatically sending out the first one in the lineup. It doesn't seem like it would be difficult to add in that feature.
these chat people have no clue what starter is the best for this game. cuz Infernape is one of the best starter Pokemon in all the Pokemon games and especially in this game specifically. and thats coming from myself who usually always picks the Grass Pokemon, Bulbasaur and Rowlett being my other favs. Mudkip in Emerald game and Chimchar are the only exceptions. now this game is not as hard to all the starters are decent. so it necessarily didn't matter.
Imo I feel like it better to name your starter out of any of them since it’s your first ever pokemon whenever I play I just have to atleast name the starter
1:16:14 "I feel bad for destroying these children." she said after having almost her whole team wiped by an Abra. If Bidoof or one of the her remaining Pokemon hadn't dodged, they would have all been one hit KOd by the powered up charge beam because the Abra was faster than any of her Pokemon. She won that battle with a 1/10 chance because charge beam has 90% accuracy. Extremely lucky and she didn't even realize it lol.
@@Vin-xj7mk SwSh are literal perfect beginner games. Not great in comparison to other PKMN games but ideal for new people. It has tips on what moves are super effective after you've battled a Pokémon once which helps new players learn type matchups, it has some decent modern graphics, phenomenal character customisation, fun interactions with the camping and cooking, it's very easy and it's very accessible as it's a switch game.
They recently came out at the time of the video upload Sword/Shield are mediocre while Scarlet/Violet’s open world would be very confusing without a guide so I would’ve suggested bdsp anyways I’d do frlg first but they may be outdated with no fairy type and they’re not playable on switch either

I was going to like the video when I was done watching it anyway, but when she said "Piplup won!" I immediately scrolled down to like the video 😂
You picked my favorite Water-Type Pokémon. I really appreciate that.
I really really hope you post the other vods, I tried to follow along on twitch but I'm late and it's vanished Dx

💛
Red gardenhose...close enough.
Subbed...I cannot believe you have 1k subs...Love the content!
hehee thank youu!!
The original diamond was my first Pokémon
Why'd you do a twitch poll for your very first starter pokemon ever? Kind of defeats the point.
Probably just liked all of them enough
not that seriousss
Is not my 1st time. I've been playing since 2002
Imo I feel like it better to name your starter out of any of them since it’s your first ever pokemon whenever I play I just have to atleast name the starter

all Gyarados' are Garden hoses now
Berry is the truth name in Pokemon diamond and pearl
Chimchar lost the poll?
Hi new here how do you have that many views and only 200 subs? Imo you deserve more subscribers this content is great
because im so bad at posting regularly LOL
You can go to the Pokemon center to heal up your team
Catch Starly and Shinx
Now you can heal your team at PC
To catch it
You will need some flying type Pokemon in your team
Did you watch Pokemon diamond and pearl. Down rival is Berry
Gyarados
Yellow-skinned is white variants now????? TF?
Is a normal type pokemon
Who the hell told this girl that her first Pokémon game should be BDSP?
lmao. i think its a cute game and perfect.
Which game do you think is more fitting for a beginner?
I’d start with frlg but they’re not playable on switch. BDSP were the most recent at the time of the video upload

Try pokemon legend Arceus ❤
i have! loved it :D
Of all games she chose bd/sp🙄
They recently came out at the time of the video upload
Sword/Shield are mediocre while Scarlet/Violet’s open world would be very confusing without a guide so I would’ve suggested bdsp anyways
I’d do frlg first but they may be outdated with no fairy type and they’re not playable on switch either
What a bad game to start with💀
well here we are
ok but of all the horrible versions of Pokemon to start with you started with BDSP T^T
