the scariest thing of all, pokemon cards (happy halloween :D)
Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween
LETS GOO
Spooky season end Torrmow
It’s not even Halloween when you posted this comment Evie smh
It's not gambling if you get a Pokemon card out of it :)
Dad please stop gambling, we haven’t had anything to eat for days D:
Dad stop gambling these pieces of cardboard aren’t worth it. We need the money for food
Dad PLEASE we're starving, we need more food than just the leather from our discarded shoes ;-;
Geez what's with you kids, every other day it's food, food, food
Dad, we need food. Please put money towards food for us, we can’t eat Pokémon cards, we tried!
The vaporeon cut had me actually spit out my drink. I did NOT expect that.
Same that had me dying.
Vaporeon. Did you know….?
I was cracking up at that lol.
I had to pause the video and replay it just to make sure i wasn't hearing things.
We all thought it, but weren't prepared for it to be said.
Just now starting the video and I'm already scared to find out.
The way she opens packs and spreads the cards just to get to the pulls is truly the scariest thing I've seen in quite a while.
Someone who has collected for a long while
True gambler. lmao
i used to do that 😔😔😔😔
Scary? That is how collectors open packs. No one gives two shits about the common / uncommons, except for those channels that cater to screaming children. I honestly can’t stand when channels pad their videos but going through every. Single. Card. So slowly. As if anyone cares. Especially when the set isn’t brand new. The way she’s opening is the correct way.
@@davidma6616 I care about the commons/uncommons as they are necessary for me to complete my binder. Sounds to me like you only care about the hits and the monetary value they may bring you "collector".
The best way to collect Pokemon cards is to literally sort singles by cheapest and get ones you like the look of. SO MANY beautiful cards have so little value because they aren't in play or aren't the ultra-rares. If you put them in protectors and hold them long-term, you'll get back what you put in for sure, and in the off chance you don't, you've got a lot of pretty art cards for cents... rather than 5+ bux a pack to get mostly bulk you don't want.
Agreed. People tend to focus in on a handful of "chase" cards in every set, and all the other cards fall to the side. There's so many cards that are ridiculously cheap from the current sets. If anyone wants any ideas on where to look, check out the Trainer Gallery cards from the later Sword and Shield sets like Brilliant Stars, Lost Origin, Silver Tempest, Astral Radiance, and Crown Zenith. These sets all got very heavily printed and opened, so there's tons of beautiful cards featuring iconic characters that are literally a dollar.
REAL!!!!
I’m addicted to buying singles online, so many great cards with a low market value.
I have this collection im working on where there are totally some expensive cards - but in reality some of my favs are the cards that are worth like 1 buck each
I LOVE this idea
Mostly I’m upset about how Fairy-Type was removed. I want the pretty pink cards back 😢
WHAT??????
Same!
WHAT??? WHY??
All fairy types have been moved to the psychic type cards. For example, Mimikyu (one of my favorites of all time) used to have it's own fairy type cards but now it has only psychic cards with a dark weakness and fighting resistance as opposed to steel weakness, well, besides that one delta species water type Mimikyu I have.
Why they remove it?
When I was a kid, I found a Weedle card in a bush, and that felt special. I was already playing the games (I think Johto was the current gen at the time), but finding that card got me interested in that medium too.
A wild Weedle appeared!
I wonder if a kid was trying to play some sort of Pokémon hide and seek game "in the wild" outside and just forgot that poor Weedle card there.
I remember doing that all the time with my younger sister back when we were kids, except it was with little Pokémon plastic figurines instead. 😂
This reminded me of back in the day when I found an impressively crumpled ball-shaped Pidgeot card on the side of a road as if thrown from a car. I remember thinking someone had to be either incredibly cruel or incredibly pissed off at their sibling to put that much effort into ruining yet somehow not ripping that poor thing. "nursed" it back to relative health with a dictionary to flatten it as best as I could. Probably my most monetarily worthless card, but definitely one I won't be letting go of, basically perpetually keeping it safe for its original owner to one day find.
@@LonesomeDevil That's a wholesome and adorable story - thanks for sharing!
You got a wild Weedle outside XD
Pokemon cards can bring out the absolute feral beast in a person. You have the thrill aspect of opening a pack and seeing cards with really cool art of your favorite pokemon, or having to fend off tiktok resellers for the last single pack at Target like a caveman having to fend off others for the last shred of raw meet from the hunt
Now I'm just imagining beating back TikTok sellers with a stick while trying desperately to grab a tin of cards
I find it funny how people describe card collecting to show off all the horrors in humanity when the like half of the competitive playerbase is incredibly chill. You'd expect people to go mad after watching Comfeys spin around for an hour, but no, it's the people buying the Comfey.
@@CommanderWiggins I mean, have you seen videos of scalpers/resellers all rushing into a store before? That's basically what they do, it's terrifying.
My friend (21M) decided to ripp off kids with his worthless cards so that he could resell for big time money. Funny thing, the kids knew better than himself that his cards were trash
Cavemen weren't driven by capitalism and so they were more cooperative than that ;)
When i was a kid and collected pokemon cards, I really liked collecting these weird clay arts of pokemon that were really just dittos. I still have em in a binder somewhere 😂
I hated those cards back then when I was little, now growing up i think they're super cute
Yuka Mari
Those are worth something now lol
never in a 100 years was I expected Lucy to do a Vapereon bit 💀
never in 100 years was I expected Lucy to do a porn joke
I mean it's unfortunately a very common joke in the pokemon community
You haven't watched many of her videos then

The difference between an expensive Japanese card and an English cheaper variant often comes down to how rare it actually is, in japan it could have been a promo or only in a special pack, while in English it could be a normal card on the set or the other way around.
I used to be really into Pokemon cards as a kid during Diamond and Pearl. Never could child me have imagined the lengths people would go to scalp a children's trading card game
I just like a lot of the Alternate Art cards. I know some of them are very valuable, but I dont care which ones. I just like them becaue they tend to show pokemon engaging in activities other than battling. One of my favorites is a side profile Keldeo in a meadow at night. I dont have a strong opinion on Keldeo, the card is just gorgeous. I also LOVE holo energy cards and will always get excited, even if the rest of a pack is bunk.
I remember giving my sister my old Pokemon cards, and many years later I heard that the old Skyridge set had real low print runs and that cards from that set are real expensive.
Turns out, when I was younger, I bought a lot of Skyridge cards. Found a Mint Holo Gengar in there and the price tag made us do a double take.
It's interesting that you didn't like the yellow borders on the full arts. Personally, I felt they made the card art pop! Now that they're gone, it feels a bit drab.
Omg yes. Also, I tend to use black matte sleeve when I play, the yellow borders really fit in well with black outline.
12:36 absolutely caught me off guard lmao, was not expecting the sweet and innocent Lucy referencing that meme
I know right, I started dieing of laughter when she said that
I really miss your pack openings, they were some of my favorites to watch and they bring me a ton of fond memories for the era before the COVID craziness
The clip of George with your Pokemon cards was so cute! It looked like he was protecting them for you ❤
Some quick correction about the Charizard tax. Yeah, popular character tends to be more expensive due to demand, but a lot of sets also purposely short print them. Just cause two cards are the same rarity doesn't mean they are printed in the same quantity. That is why some cards are more expensive even though another card from the same set with the same rarity might be a few dollars.
Pull rates beg to differ. Maybe because certain sought-after special illustration rares were stolen from the factories a few times… (the online pics of 100s of Mews and Moonbreons).
@@Sonic-cel I was just going to say this! Certain illustration rares definitely WERE rarer than other cards...because workers at the factories stole them. People have said they've changed factories so you hope this can't happen anymore...although the pessimist in me wouldn't hold my breath.
The stats and playability of charzard make it more valuable as well. It's actually a good card, plus its rarity creates a higher demand thus the price is more
short print is a yugiooh boogeyman this is nto a thing....charizard is expensive cuz charizard tax and it's a playable deck
No evidence for this claim that I know of. Please link if you can
I decided to collect single cards again this year when I started going to some local conventions in my area. Instead of focusing on a specific set, I set out to collect the Regi cards because they're honestly my favorite group of legendaries and tend to not be super expensive. The hard ones to find will definitely be all the ones Gen 5 and older but just having all of them together just looks really cool.
I have some of those. Would be willing to get rid of the regular rare ones for free. I’m not a huge regi fan.
The cards that got me into pokemon were a dual type Garvantula and a dual type shiny Azumaril
GOD I LOVE THE DESIGN ON THOSE CARDS!!! I really wish they had kept those.
Fr the Bisharp and Shiftree went hard
@@NovaMaster375 YAAAA
I have that azumaril it's very rare I think
@@bewearstar9462 If that's the Steam Siege one, it's not all that rare. Still really nice tho
The way I got back into pokemon was to buy a couple boxes of 400-ish cards from a local shop. It was all commons, uncommons, and non-holo rares, but for $30 I got like all the commons and uncommons (and some non-holo rares) for nearly every set since XY. I did have quite a few duplicates from this method (probably about 300 from the 800 cards I got) but it was still fun.
I feel like I'm back in the 90's again with this resurgence of Pokémon cards thanks to 151. All the kids of my generation who are now adults are behaving like school ground children living out their childhood! 😂
I’ve seen it before with XY Evolutions and Covid lockdown.
I was really into collecting Pokemon card when I was a kid, but had to stop due to money (very rarely I would get some cards, though). Now being an adult and having job, the set that hooked me back in was Shining Fates. I love the many different art styles and just seeing what kind of deck I can make (no where near competitive levels, but still fun to play against my friends).
Buying the themed deck Brushfire was rough when I was a kid. especially in countries that you have to import these things. I think that deck worth my whole month of pocket money.
But yea, the game is quite fun to play. I made a deck for every type around D E F G, and have bunch of bulks to customize and league battle decks. so in the future even if none of my friends have the cards anymore, can just use any of the decks I have.
As a kid, I only kept cards that were shiny or sparkly. I have a bunch of reverse rares and holos from the early 2010s. I never thought of how expensive things were.
I love collecting cards and seeing what I can pull. I don’t care if I get anything worthwhile. I love seeing the different art styles
I hate money. Makes people stupid and selfish.
Without money, I am still stupid, but maybe not selfish haha.
Welcome to capitalism!
Good luck in this world
People would be selfish even without money. It's human nature to be self-serving. Even the most selfless people still make selfish decisions.
@@kevinkijowski5980 It's not money that forces people to be selfish, it's capitalism - Profits over People!
Absolutely love Pokemon card collecting. I collect artists! Even bulk cards that you wouldn't bat an eye at have meaning to me. I get just as happy seeing a Tomokazu Komiya card as an alt art. I think it makes life so much more fun when the bulk means something.
OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU YOURE THE FIRST PERSON IVE SEEN TO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE ARTISTS!!! their names always get cropped out when ppl post about the cards and no one ever cares but i care SO MUCH!!! pulling a new yuka morii or asako ito card is like winning the lottery to me
@@lemonsinlimbo9407 I need Yuka's Drapion full art but a banger that comes to mind in the bulk department is the Machop. And yeah, hard to hate Asako Ito! I've got the Altaria. And I love her Snorlax card.
@@lemonsinlimbo9407 update: I have the Yuka Morii Drapion!
I have been wanting to do this! Is there a database to figure out what cards each artist did?
I went to one prerelease as a kid for my birthday. It was really fun. I only won the trainer box because the last guy I went against was being a jerk, so I didn't let him undo a mistake he made. I got 2 Alakazams that someone bought from me for $40, basically a full refund for the event.
I've never opened a single pack of Pokemon cards, but have always been fascinated by the art and the emotion it carries. The beautiful illustrations bring out feelings of nostalgia and familiarity almost as if a bond is formed between my inner child and the cards. This video allows me to get comfortable, take a step back and dedicate a few minutes to address my feelings of appreciation for Pokemon and its role in my childhood. Thanks for the wholesome video!
bro speaks like chat gpt
I still can’t get over how expensive vintage cards still are. 1st edition charizard holo is like £500 for one in average condition last time I checked 💀
You mean thousands? 500 would be some scammer trying to sell a fake. The shadowless one is already $1000.
I remember being in Middle School during "PokeMania", when kids had binders full of Pokemon cards.
4:10 to be fair, a quarter of that price is just the Alt art Umbreon Lmao
You know it's a good day when Eevee uploads, love your vids!
12:35 - scariest part of the whole video
PORN!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA
And the funniest.
In most tcgs, Japanese cards will be the same price as the English ones, with certain exceptions:
In Yugioh, the OCG (Japanese format) gets cards early, while the rest of the world (TCG) gets an occasional extra set of cards that aren't usable or printed in Japanese. Japanese cards usually aren't very desirable as you are not allowed to play them in TCG formats due to the difference in wording of card text, causing some very rare issues where effects differ. Also, being that the game is Japanese and OCG is its original format, prize cards given in Japanese do feel more special and fetch higher prices, especially since all prize cards for the past several years are purely collectible and cannot be played in any format.
In magic the gathering, because it's not a japanese game, cards will always be the same price on the secondary market regardless of language, but they have occasionally made special Japanese themed alt art cards, the Japanese versions of which would naturally feel more special and desirable, as well as slightly shifting pull ratios or the card pools in certain packs, e.g. Strixhaven Japanese regular boosters having the Japanese masterpieces as well as basic masterpieces, while the Japanese masterpieces were only available in the overly expensive collectors boosters elsewhere, the regular boosters just having the standard masterpieces.
Generally a common Japanese card will be the same price as one in English, it's more in the special collectables (playable or not) where the money comes from. I think it's mostly high accessibility in Japan in comparison to everywhere else that's causing these crazy buyouts.
11:46 eyeless Torchic is staring into my soul
The "Did you know" caught me off guard
Absolutely love that Black and White: Legendary Treasures collection! my absolute favorite set!
"Holo Vaporeon! Did you know-"
The perfect time to cut away.
My biggest hit ever came from one of the 3 card packs during the tag team era, where I pulled the Alternate Full Art Latios and Latias GX Tag Team. I still have it, and cherishing it. Edit: Just rechecked the price for this card and JEEBUS! For a 1$ pack thats like one of the best wins I've EVER had with the TCG cards.
I pulled one too. It came from my lucky DG. It’s the one where their necks make the heart right? Mine got damaged though.
@@princesspikachu3915 Thats rough to hear...because it is very beautiful art.
@1:43 oh, I've been there! Lucky to have bought some cards that are now hilariously expensive
Pulled a few Charizard EX from Obsidian Flames soon after restarting my collection. It's been wild seeing the prices fluctuate.
I ordered a card I thought was ridiculously silly (full art Pidgey) and now that I got it I love it. I'm thinking about making a living dex binders of full art cards starting in Gen 1 before moving on to the next one. Also just pulled a gorgeous Ivysaur, so that would put my Kanto dex at 4/151
The lucario from XY furious fists was my first big pull as a kid
I refuse to buy pokemon cards because I am incapable of collecting something without getting ALL OF IT. Amd thats just not an option
8:19 I love how you filmed your kitty laying on your card binder
Pokémon card prices were fine but when Logan Paul went crazy for them, god the mark up in general and a lot of America’s card population getting bought out in every store.
[Pulls Vaporeon]
“Did you know-“
I hate the Charizard tax >:(
I like that you mentioned the prices sometimes depending on the viability in the TCG though! It’s actually a very important factor for some card’s value. Like the non-holo regular Jet Energy is worth about $4 right now but once it’s rotated out will probably be worth like 5p
8:13 "I need the money to buy... essencials"
Altaria: Get me outta here!
I love seeing an opening that appreciates the art and not just the rarity and value of the card. Lots of 'collectors' are really investors and forget to enjoy the whole Pokemon journey. In this economy, I can empathise with why though.
She instantly tosses the commons and uncommons aside and goes straight to the holo money card though.
@@Tvboy777 yeah she contradicts herself a bit during the actual opening
5:10 I was happily suprised because I still have that charizard in my pokemon card map collection from when I was a kid!
I've gotten back into collecting Pokemon cards again, so this was a fun video to watch! I also collect more for the art, as some cards have some really cool designs! I purchase the trainer boxes specifically for the full art pulls. I don't have a particular Pokemon I'm looking for, I'm just happy when I get one. Heck, I'm happy when I get any foil cards too! I rememeber those being pretty hard to get when I was a little kid, so they still bring me joy whenever I get them.
I'm kinda the same, I'm happy when I pull a Pokemon I'm fond of. But this does backfire lol, I'd rather pull a holo of a Pokemon I like then a ultra rare of one I don't lol
While I'm watching this my mom is downstairs handing out special trick or treat Pokemon card packs to trick-or-treaters
The pokemon company collected her cards before hand and gave her the poor odds on purpose. Just to spite her.
My proudest Pokémon card collection is my stack of about a dozen delta species Pokémon. ie. I have a steel type Tropius, a fighting type Electabuzz, both a grass and an electric type Dratini, a dark type Nidoran, a psychic type Vibrava, a grass type Wooper, a psychic type Trapinch, a fire type Smoochum, and a water type Swablu.
Happy Halloween Lucy Thank you for the video hope everyone or doing a amazing day💚
I always intentionally avoid knowing what cards are in a set as much as I can. That way the few rare ones I pull are always a surprise and I never get caught up hunting specific ones
I've been into Pokémon since the start of the franchise but only from playing the games and watching the anime. Just recently with the release of the "Original 151" packs my buddy and I decided to try and start to collect the 151 and learn to play the game as well now we're hooked and waiting for the next pack archetype to release in December!
"I just kept pulling it, over and over..." Sounds like my last Saturday night....
One of my favorite Pokémon card memories is something that happened very recently. I was working a night shift at the Dollar Tree. We had Pokémon packs for five dollars, so I bought one. I didn’t know anything about the current lineup of cards (Heck, I haven’t even played Scarlet or Violet to this day), so I had no idea what Pokémon were on the cards. I got a hyper rare Koraidon. It looks really nice on the front page of my binder.
In magic the gathering the miscuts / misprints and crimped cards are actually more expensive than the regular ones
When you pulled Vaporeon, I began to say to myself, aloud, "Did you know" and to hear you do the exact same thing made me actually scream. 10/10
I also got started on Furious Fists! Glad to see someone else started here other than just me.

I love how we're so similar, it's so relaxing to fill a binder with a full set after grabbing a new booster. But you're right the sets full arts and secret rares it'll never be completed
yeah as someone who got back into collecting about a month ago the charizard tax is insane, ive been having a blast though honestly getting back into things and actually learning the tcg
I remember my mom buying me the Pokemon Advent Calendar in 2008. I sadly dont have the cards anymore but it was a nice throwback to see the packaging and the little snowflake on the cards again. ☺
That eyeless torchic somehow feels like it’s staring into my soul…
If it were up to me I'd say the clay and crochet cards are the most valuable bc they're positively adorable :)
My favourite Pokémon card artist is Yuka Morii, they take photographs of cute little Pokémon models in the wild and it’s adorable
I feel you on the bad pulls from that ETB. I got an obsidian flames ETB after getting back into the hobby with a couple packs of 151. I pulled a Decidueye EX from 9 packs. I was like man... fugg Pokémon.
"Vaporeon! Did you know-"
CandyEvie, 2023
ok but that vaporeon cutaway 😭
The "did you know" on the vaporeon pull caught me COMPLETELY off guard
The Chansey in this set is honestly really cool. Since certain Pokemon don't have their evolutions in the pack, they end up being a bit stronger than they otherwise would be. Chansey has the classic bonus prize effect if you get it out of your prize cards that we've seen from mythicals like Jirachi and Celebi, but to see it on an evolving basic is really cool and makes me really hopeful that we'll get a good Blissey to pair with. The Onix and Jynx ex are the other 2 that I really want in these sets because they are sick in expanded, with Jynx spawning an entirely new playstyle around sleep KOs
8:23 i am proud of his collection
Yoooooo I remember having that calendar as a child!! I still have some of the snowflake cards too, like Piplup and Chimchar, but unfortunately I don‘t have the Delibird anymore that came on Christmas Eve 😢
I always thought most rare error cards were worth more than PSA 9+ for the sole reason that they are 1 of a kind.
The cat sitting on top of the open card binder is SUCH a cat thing to do
The charizard thing is so true. Ive been collecting all the paldea sets (not the secret rares, just the base ones, cause theres just too many!), and obsidan flames has a charizard ex in the set. Its going for 28$ at my local card store. I bought 4 other exs from the set for 5$. Total. Funnily enough i pulled the illustration rare of charizard, i wonder how much its going for haha.
8:22 when your pets claims your collection
"I just like collecting cards with nice artwork" - then proceeds to skip every card in the pack to get to the "hits"....
The Van Gogh Pokémon special tour in Amsterdam! I visited that place recently and I got some miniature versions of the Van Gogh Hat Pikachu and Eevee paintings! There's also some very cool Johto representation there -- Murkrow, Smeargle, Sunflora as the Sunflowers painting, that one was really cool!
"Vaporeon! Did you kno-" 🤣
The "Did you know?" Made me jump i was not expecting that lmao
Great Video, now is a great time to get back into pokemon cards, readily available, relatievly cheap and some very nice art works and chase cards :)
12:35 I did not at all expect that kinda joke from CandyEvie 😂😂😂 talk about whiplash
The Vaporeon "did you know" lmaooo
For Halloween yesterday somebody was giving out little three packs of cards, he was dressed like a wizard, definitely my favorite of the night
Aside from the scalping and all the issues with the new sets you eloquently highlighted, I am 100% hooked on the gorgeous and beautifully crafted art designs of the newer alternate art cards
When I recognized the charizard card at 5:13 as one I got when I was a kid it reminded me of stupid I was keeping all my old cards clumped up together in a binder
perfect video to get back into addictive pokemon behavior
Jumpluff prices after this video 📈📈📈
