I have the base model v6 4x4. just took it out on the trails for the first time yesterday, and i was blown away by how well it performed in some dog shit conditions. had it all, dirt, gravel, mud, rocks, even without the rear locker, she took it all like a champ bro.
Watched this a few months back and just watched it again. Great build and definitely similar to what I want my Tacoma to end up being with a few tweaks her and there. Awesome!
That rig is absolutely one hundred percent beautiful!
The truck looks good too!
Very comprehensive walk around. Purpose built with great explanations behind all your moves and design decisions.
Thanks David!
Great video. I have a stock '17 quicksand TRD 4x4 Offroad Tacoma and appreciate how you advise people not to be pressured to add all the upgrades at once, because it's a great truck in stock form. Right now I'm just focused on a new grill and bigger tires. I have too many expensive hobbies, I'll have to prioritize. Thanks for the awesome content and inspiration!
I agree with Jillian, tires and sliders and go. When I first started out, I was told to get sliders here in Southern Nevada area due to all of the rocks/boulders on many trails out here. Sliders are necessary to save your rocker panels and pinch welds. I heeded that advice and am SO glad I did. I only did dirt roads until I got my first set of sliders. Then the first day out on them I was so glad I had them as I used them a lot the very first day. I was so glad. I had some older Mickey Thompson Mud tires on my Xterra when I bought it, and those were next to be changed out. They were on their last year so I swapped them out for some Michelin K02's and never looked back ever since. I love the K02's and have Never gotten any flats with them. So yes, Sliders and Tires and GO!
That is a badass setup! Love it.
Great walk around. I saw your truck at the KC Overland Pre-Event. Glad to see the details of all the work you’ve done to it.
The rig is looking good! Great update video.
Canadian here from Vancouver, British Columbia. I'm buying a 2020 Tacoma just as soon as they are released and you gave me some good ideas for add-ons. Well done video!
Awesome!
I just found your channel and I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road that I've taken off road once and will be doing rock sliders to start and go from there as I need to upgrade things, like I just put the TRD catback exhaust on and cold air intake! I like the the mods on your truck and you've given me ideas for the future!
Very nice build. Gives me lots of ideas for my 19 OFFRD. Those lights and the roof rack are sweet.
Ya nice build, and Im not talking about the truck either
You have a beautiful truck. Definitely truck goals!
Amazing truck! Haven't gotten mine quite to that point...... Yet.
And I will never look as good as you in it!
Just seen this video and this is sick! I dig the manual set up on top of everything.
Well done. It’s a very well thought out build for your needs. My truck is always broken 😂
Your setup is so dope!
Lookin very good. The truck too.
Wow very nice taco , I just bought a 2019 TRD OR , I have the pro grille, Prinzu rack with Cali 42” inch lightbar.....but your truck is so much nicer with a super clean look. Please keep sharing your awesome videos.
Good job, very nice tour, and a very nice truck.....Safe Travels
Where have you been all my life!!
Good job!
Such a cool set up on your rig!! You seriously named everything I want on my next Taco!! Im saving this video for reference! Thanks for a cool walk around!
You have done a great job on your truck.
Great vid, and nice rig! Happy overlanding!
Best feature of this truck is the 6-speed manual. You go girl
when everything perfect! 💖 i notice your KC belt :) Also your Tacoma is a brillant built.
Love your truck... Manual! 👍
Thanks for the tips which I am considering on my 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser.
Smart looking truck, Jillian.
Yes great build. Check out the headlights and bumper. Nice.
Your truck has come a long way since your original walk around. It looks great!
Agreed! Thank you
This is inspiring thank you!
awesome review for an awesome truck
Love the rig 👍👌
Saw your rig first on Trail Recon youtube. You've got a nice overlander ! Thanks for showing it !!
I’m literally buying one of these after deployment. Can’t wait!!
Tim Tim nobody cares boot
Geewood haha classic!!
Good presentation... Thanks for the share
Awesome truck!
Very well done.
Beautiful 😍
Nice tour, but I especially like hearing your thought process behind your build decisions.
Thanks!
@@JillianRebekahMountainYot I agree! I like to know why people chose what they did, and you did a fab job of it here!
Another good one Jill. Now let's see how them KCs light up the night.
Thanks! the photos exist just haven't been released yet. Coming soon!
Love it!!
good to see you.
I have a 4runner but you tacoma guys are allllllright
Nice rig, I just picked up a 2019 Tacoma sport, live in Michigan so our rigs are set up a little different.
Safe travel's.
Bty yes I did change out the grill already lol
I have the 2019 version of this same truck same color etc so I really liked this vid....and damn this girl is EASY on the eyes too!
is this a dream 😍
This video was boring until she said manual transmisión !! I’m subscribing ma’am !!
hahahaha!
Your bumpers are definitely nice! Great departure angle. 😂
very nice.
Beautiful truck pretty lady!!!
nice looking rig, the Tacoma looks alright as well ha ha ha haaaaaa!!!!
Wranglers are my taste but I'm loving this Tacoma. Thinking about getting one down the line
Literally the only person I see with a FIRE EXTINGUISHER. Good on you.
I have the 2020 TRD Off Road in the same color! Has a power driver’s seat and Apple Carplay plus keyless entry on passenger’s side for the first time! Has tech package with paint colored rear bumper but no heated leather seats or LEDs however! Also no 360 degree camera. Already cost me $39k plus! Haha Love all these mods. Brute Force rack is really nice. Different from the ones people are going with lately.
What a sexy setup
Great truck, i was surprised that you did not have any engine performance upgrades...
Why mess with a good thing? Toyotas will go hundreds of thousands of miles without anything other than routine maintenance. Once you start adding chips and tunes and what not it messes with the reliability of the engine because it's not designed for it. Sure an air filter and high flow exhaust won't really do anything other than increase the air flow which don't affect the reliability. But these engines aren't meant to be beasts. Not crazy fast, not crazy powerful. Just a well rounded engine. Guys back in the day wheeled vehicles on stock suspension with cranked torsion bars for lift and sub 120hp 4 cylinder engines. They managed to get by with a heavier rig and less power than we have available to us now.
Nice set up. Check out mountain Hatch for a food grade 1/2 plastic on your tailgate. Very nice..
Marlin crawler dual trans case or gears you won’t regret it!!Especially with the arb best money you’ll ever spend forget rear end gears
LLOD is rocking a prototype hard top tent that fits your profile.
Awesome
I LOVE YOU ! From Chile
You rock, nice to see a real woman so knowledgeable about the truck she drives, love to go off roading with you sometime, do you have a certain group you go out with..?
Thank you... I still have much to learn! I go out with friends...I very rarely attend organized group runs/trips
Would be nice to get it of Caliville and tweek it to really enjoy it.
Nice Rig....
Thanks for doing this post J.R.! I caught a brief walkaround of your rig with Brad of TrailRecon a couple months back and was really impressed with the set up. My fiance and i are considering upgrading to overland camping and i was curious about your fridge setup. I'd like to avoid putting a fridge in the backseat, but was curious about how the Dometic has held up to the evironmental elements considering your spend a lot of time in the desert. My research shows that Snomaster and ARB Element are specifically designed for exterior use, and both have great reviews with few major negative reviews to construction or design or power consumption. I have considered the Snowmaster over the ARB because of sizing options, i dont think we need a 63qt....yet. You mentioned you might do a separate fridge specific post, and i think you should. In Texas i have Snomaster and Dometic dealers within driving distance, and I do like the functionality of Dometic and the many size options available. We would be considering a 40'ish quart, but you now have me curious about two things... How has the Dometic held up for you on the exterior? and Why did you go with 75qt? Other than additional space for longer of the grid food capacity, could you still benefit from a 40'ish quart? Thanks again for you post...maybe we'll see you on the trail!
Thank you for this comment.
I am going to be doing a video for the fridge specifically the next week or so. It will be posted here. I've got your questions and topics and I will try to cover that in the video :)
JillianRebekah MountainYot thanks for the reply, we look forward to it!
Nice tacoma I have one too but mine is 2001
Gorgeous! Just gorgeous.
The taco is not bad EITHER
woow i love this girl
hi nice looking truck what do you do in your truck were you need all that suspention mods? you should make a dawn vid so we can see how brigtht your lights are thanks
I had no clue you had a channel JR subbed.
I'm not much of a UA-cam'er but every once in a while I upload something. :).
@@JillianRebekahMountainYot 😂 if you have the time upload more often.
Nice set up. I would definitely add a wench!
I would add a wench and a winch! :)
@@randythompson1547 You got me XD. Stupid iPhone auto correct!
Great truck. Hopefully your 2016 has not needed the frame sealed and software updates, and most recently the entire engine removed to replace the timing cover sealant. I love my 2016. Also have the same color. But wow Toyota definitely worked in a few defects for us.
Limb risers in the future? It helps push up branches that lessen the contact on your windshield. #MyTwoCents
Manual! Yes
Love your brute force rack/cage. Did you have to drill holes to mount the back portion or the rack??
Looks very capable! Did you have to cab mount chop or do any trimming to fit the 33s?
Please make more videos!!
What about that beautiful American flag magnet! 🇺🇸 Truck is looking dialed Jillian 👍🏽
I TOTALLY BLEW THIS! I LOVE my Tactilian Flags! I zeroed in on my bumper and moved right past it! :(
I never liked the american flag on a non american vehicle.Just my 2 cents,no hate here.Cheers
Not a bad way to spend 15-20 grand! LOL! Awesome rig!
Or get it given to you and tell every one how good it is so they they buy it
Greta set up. Q on the 33” tires, did you have to do anything for rubbing and did you lift the truck with the ICON set up.
Probably got about 2 inches from the Suspension.
The 33" tires did rub quite a bit on the fenders. Thankfully after massaging some of the plastic, trimming a little bit from the bumper and adjusting the castor they are almost perfect.
IT DOES still make contact on a smooth part of the body at full articulation, but typically when that is happening my speed is pretty minimal.
Does your truck make a rattle sound when you drive slow over bumps in neutral or with the clutch down? I have a 2019 OffRoad manual transmission and apparently according to the tech it's normal I test drove 2 other trucks that they had on the lot and they did the same according to the tech it's coming from the drive line when theirs no pressure it rattles over bumps . I wished I would of known not to happy about having a 35k truck that rattles over bumps
Any idea what she's talking about? Lost focus in the beginning and never really got back on track. Guessing it had something to do with that truck but not sure.
How many miles do you roughly get with those tires? I just bought the same ones.
Ye gods! I can't even calculate the amount of money your lights alone would have cost. I really like the sub-grill setup but each of those are $500? And you have 3? WOW!
Very nice, with all that weight have you done anything to boost engine power or gearing?
Im not sold on ANYTHING that is currently on the market that claims to boost engine power.
A re-gear is a common route but I like the way my truck drives on the highway and while I am heavy I feel that my manual transmission allows me a lot of control and a re-gear just isn't for me (at least not at this time). I DO however want to add a T-case for additional power while Offroad and dealing with obstacles...but that's much further down the road.
Have you seen those desert color aftermarket wheels by black rhino called armory? You need to get those
Love the flag on the truck bed! Where do I buy that flag?
Billy Blaze I totally blew it and didn’t even mention them... magnetic flag decals from Tactilian. They’re awesome!
Very Nice, ? Do you pull the back seats out for additional storage and what you you use for inter group Communication. I see no antennas
No, I don't. I like the idea of doing a rear seat delete...but it's not a priority at this time.
Communication: I use a Baofeng handheld radio. But I would like something built-in eventually
My clutch wants to know if you can make a video on how you drive stick off road? I know it definitely takes more skill and finesse versus an automatic.
Hahaha...so you just want a video of me driving?? Or are you looking for a "how-to" video?
@@JillianRebekahMountainYot a mix of both I guess but more of a how to because there really isnt a lot on youtube on how and what to do in certain situations/obstacles
Love your truck but I'm really interested in what mount you used for the ARB twin compressor and tank. Mind sharing some details?
Mount is from SLEE Off-road...very straightforward (simple).
Other options might exist but honestly Ive only heard of people using SLEE.
@@JillianRebekahMountainYot so the tank mounts directly up to the bottom of the slee mount? Any drooling or modification needed?
Drilling* lol
So you went with the -3.00" from bruteforcefab for the bedcage?
That sounds right...I ordered mine close to 3 years ago....and just told him I wanted the lower profile option
you earned my respect with the stick shift. I hate standards on trucks.
Did u regear with the 285's? I love the faulkens on mine also
no, I did not
Wow! Very nice. I didn't know a manual transmission tacoma was available... is it a daily driver? I love the suspension and bumper. How much more weight did everything add to your truck, and how much have you spent? I'm looking a used double cab tundra but now I think I want another tacoma like yours (I currently have an '03 double cab which I love) I miss driving a manual transmission truck.
They're not easy to find that's for sure!
It is my daily.
I've wondered how heavy she is recently... Might have to satisfy my curiosity and go get her weighted.
I wish I could find someone like this, she is my dream girl...
Is this mainly used for recreation or is it a daily driver/ commuter vehicle as well? Does it see snow?
It's my daily driver.
Yes, it sees snow but nothing extreme.
In the comments you mentioned some minor rubbing with the new tires. My big question is have you noticed an increase in the capability of your truck over the 32's. Im trying to decide on making the jump or sticking with 265/75 R16. The 33's sure look good!
It's going to depend on the style of off-road travel. I did get a little more clearance which I do notice on a few familiar trails. I also was going from a 16" wheel to a 17"...If I could have I would have loved to stay on the 16". BUT a lot of the change is ascetic... it balances out the "look" of the truck imo. There is a weight difference for sure and getting the alignment/trimming of the fender right can be a little challenging. I wouldn't go back but I don't think the switch to bigger tires is right for everyone.
JillianRebekah MountainYot thanks for the reply. You’ve got a very well thought out truck. I ended up sticking with the 32’s in a BFG KO2. Method MR701 wheels gave me the stance I wanted and the wider rim flattened out the tread perfectly.
Great video, where did you get the side bar?
What do you mean by side bar?
