I saw the Faces perform this at Sheffield City Hall waaaay back in the 70's, great performance. I love to play it as loud as possible in the car.... when my wife isn't with me!!😂😂🇬🇧
Yeah, you're right, Rod Stewart from early 70's was incredible. From Old Raincoats thru Never a Dull Moment were great albums full of great songs. Would recommend Mandolin Wind, Gasoline Alley, I'm Losing You, but there's a lot of great songs on those early albums. And the Faces were great too, strongly recommend Oh La La.
Before they named Faces, they are known as the Small Faces. Leadsinger was Steve Marriot. He left 1969 and made with Peter Frampton the Band Humble Pie. The Rest of the Small Faces teamed with Rod Stewart and Ron Wood. Both left the Jeff Beck Group. Now they named from Small Faces to Faces.
Dominika, you got it spot on. Classic British rock and roll from the 70s, can’t beat it! Lyrics definitely of the time but who cares when the music is that good. Definitely Rod at his best before he opted for pure commercial success.
The Small Faces (1965-69) lost their singer Steve Marriott, changed their name to The Faces (1969-73) and got Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood as replacements. Kenny Jones on drums, Ronnie Lane on bass guitar, and Ian McLagen piano were members of both bands.
Great reactions to Faces "Stay With Me", a true rocker. You said this came out in :71 and that surprised me because Rod's song, "Maggie Mae was playing all over the radio Sept, '71 my freshman year @ college. The album Every Picture Tells a Story is Classic Rod. The title song follows the same frantic rhythm heard on "Stay With Me", great story song, you'll love it. IMHO Rod first 4 LP, ending w "Never A Dull Moment" in '72 were his peak. He "went Hollywood" is the term most often used for his fall from Rock Stardom. I did see him + Faves in '75 w Elvin Bishop and Dave Mason as opening acts. "Travelin' Shoes" by Mr. Bishop is a Southern, swampy gem, and his signature song.
Music from the 70's are the best in history. I was born in 1967. Perfect. Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Funk, Disco, Punk, Soul, Pop, Early New Wave, Classic Country, One Hit Wonders, Yacht Rock, Soft Rock, Extremely Early Rap and the creation of Iron Maiden. The 1970's were awesome.
I agree with Dominika, Rod lost the plot in the 1980s but he and The Faces were brilliant I the 70s. I saw The Faces last tour in '74 at the Glasgow Apollo and the place was absolutely bouncing. One of my all-time favourite gigs.
They pretty much partied themselves into the ground, but I always considered them the Stones' crazy cousins and one of the greatest of all the English bands. Check out Ian Hunter as well, especially the work he did with Mick Ronson.
Remember this song well, Great Reaction👍 more Rod Stewart "Maggie Mae" my Kitty's name is Maggie Mae. 😺 Peace 😊✌️ and Love ❤ your 70 year old forever Hippie Gary🕺💃
Music is a time machine, this song brings me back to the days when people hung out at the local hamburger stand, cars blasting the latest popular songs on 8-track tapes. Good Times!
Faces were late 60sealy 70s. Small Faces preceded them in mid 60s. Small Faces featured Steve Marriott who went o. To form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton. Marriott was succeeded by Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, joining Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones and Iam McGlaglen. Wood, to create one of the great English super groups. Wood went on to join the Rolling Stones, Jones joined The Who and Stewart became Stewart. Lane died of MS.
Ron Wood has been a guitarist with the Rolling Stones since 1975. He and Keith Richards have very similar styles and complement one another. Ron Wood isn't the great lead guitar player that his predecessor, Mick Taylor was, but he fits in well with the Stones. But I have always thought that Ron Wood's greatest work was with Rod Stewart when he was the main guitar player. His style fit in great with this raunchy brand of straight forward rock n roll.
The original band was the Small Faces with Stevie Marriott! He was a force of nature a great voice and a great guitarist, they had many hits this was prior to Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood joining them. Stevie Marriott RIP left and Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood joined them having left the Jeff Beck Group. You should give a listen to the Small Faces ‘Tin Soldier’ which features another great Artist PP Arnold!
The record company wanted the band to continue as The Small Faces but Rod & Ron Wood were several inches taller than others and so it was agreed they would be called The Faces
Rod Stewart was awesome early on,but when he started doing disco and then pop 40 ,just was ok.he has worked with jeff beck as well, early on -" I aint Superstitious " is a great song
198? .. Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami FL .. Hall & Oates first act, Chicago second act, Rod Stewart headline.. 5 hours of hot 🥵 rocking .. Rod and the band finished up with this song .. Rod was kicking soccer balls into the crowd throughout his set.
I think I remember that TOUR BUT correct me if I'm wrong! Isn't that the tour where the radio promotion/commercial for it began with a deep voice saying "HOW MUCH ROD CAN YOU HANDLE?"😅 I distinctly remember that radio commercial at some point in the 80s referring to a Rod Stewart tour!!! And I remember thinking it was hilarious with the innuendo!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@ it was the first ever concert at Joe Robbie Stadium, very close to July 4th, started probably 4 pm .. July/Miami = swamp crotch for all in that stadium 😉
You reacted to humble pie (black coffee) with the amazing steve marriot who was the former front man to the small faces before they became the faces a :)
For me, this is Rod Stewart’s best song and also Faces best song. Always enjoy your reactions. They are so much fun. Happy new year to both of you.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think they were poking fun at men who seek those sorts of shallow relationships as well. Don't get too literal and enjoy the crunching, rocking groove. I'd suggest "I'm Losing You" as well. Kind of a counterbalance lyrically.
You're right about Rod Stewart, D. He was doing great music/songs in the early-mid 70s, but by the late 70s to early 80s he was doing commercial pop songs that did nothing for me.
Whoever put in the lyrics in your video should have learned beforehand what the lyrics were, that was terrible, but your reaction and the song choice was excellent..
I saw the Faces perform this at Sheffield City Hall waaaay back in the 70's, great performance. I love to play it as loud as possible in the car.... when my wife isn't with me!!😂😂🇬🇧
Great guitar by Ronnie Wood. The entire band knocked it out of the park.
OH: MAN!!! LOVE FACES!! THIS SONG IS COMPLETE FIRE!!! :) HUGS from TEXAS!!!
“Every picture tells a story”another great track.
They tore this song up 🎉 I would imagine these guys lived the rock and roll life to the fullest.
Have you ever sat back and looked at the names you just dropped ..........LOL......some of the greatest in rock history.
Spot on observation of Rod Stewart. His earlier works were his best.
For me Stewart peaked with "Every Picture Tells A Story", it was all downhill from there on.
Quality Track With One Of The Best Intros/Outros Around.
Dominika, you got it spot on. Classic British rock and roll from the 70s, can’t beat it! Lyrics definitely of the time but who cares when the music is that good. Definitely Rod at his best before he opted for pure commercial success.
Now you're rockin'!
Thanks for the memories,no mistaking Rod’s voice ,you guy’s are adorable! Dominika we need to get you some bell bottom jeans 😂
Lol
They are nice folks.
@@franksullivan1873 They make me smile every day ✌️
One of my FAVORITE Faces songs!!!! We never took it seriously; it’s a flirtatious vibe.
not small face its FACES, SMALL FACES DID ITCHYKOO PARK ;)
I was in a band for a few "weeks" once. I was rhythm guitar and lead vocals and this was always our first song.. From around 1971-72
Saw them in '71. Met Ronnie & Rod afterwards. Fun guys.
Thank you, Andrei. Youre a good man. 😊

You can hear Ronnie Wood's Stonesie licks setting the tone. Good Album.

Yes your comments halfway through are spot on!
Gotta agree with the wife on her opinion of Rod's music periods. Well put, dear lady!
You're right Dominika, later on Rod seemed to become a self caricature but in his early days he wrote some real bangers, and knew how to deliver them.
Viking: I will.
Mrs Viking: You better!!!!
😂😂😂
Early Rod is the best Rod. "Gasoline Alley" is a favorite.
I agree with Dominika, Rod lost the plot in the 1980s but he and The Faces were brilliant I the 70s. I saw The Faces last tour in '74 at the Glasgow Apollo and the place was absolutely bouncing. One of my all-time favourite gigs.
One of my all time favorite songs!
Same for me!
All legends 🤘🤘
They pretty much partied themselves into the ground, but I always considered them the Stones' crazy cousins and one of the greatest of all the English bands. Check out Ian Hunter as well, especially the work he did with Mick Ronson.

"Atlantic Crossing " and " Nigh at the Town " are a must and pretty solid albums from Mr Stewart IMHO
Have adored this man from the beginning !! ♥♥♥♥
Dominika is dead on with this! Don't take it all so seriously and just enjoy!!
When he says, near the end, "Get yourself home".....Many Gen Z kids think he is saying "Get your cell phone".
Music is a time machine, this song brings me back to the days when people hung out at the local hamburger stand, cars blasting the latest popular songs on 8-track tapes. Good Times!
Back when Rod Stewart actually rocked..
Faces were late 60sealy 70s. Small Faces preceded them in mid 60s. Small Faces featured Steve Marriott who went o. To form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton. Happy New Year beautiful couple!!❤
His best stuff is when he sang with the Faces, and before that, Jeff Beck. Basically 1967 to 1974. I couldn't get into anything he did after 1974.
“You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything” is my favourite 🤩.
top ten all time Rod
Ron Wood has been a guitarist with the Rolling Stones since 1975. He and Keith Richards have very similar styles and complement one another. I will have this song in my head for days, but it will be worth it. And I too, definitely prefer Rod's earlier music. Thanks, you two!
The faces rock! ❤...I was 12 when this came out...🎉
This was a huge in high school. Maggie May was even bigger. Two thumbs up.
The original band was the Small Faces with Stevie Marriott! Rod Stewart has many great songs.
I agree. He broke my heart with Do You Think I'm Sexy. I felt like he sold out. But in the end I love him so much. ❤
Rod Stewart was awesome early on,but when he started doing disco and then pop 40 ,just was ok.he has worked with jeff beck as well, early on -" I aint Superstitious " is a great song
Another great Rocker!! Love it!❤❤
Remember to, that this is The Faces, not Rod Stewart in his solo career after The Faces. Two completely different beasts.

Don't take this song so seriously! It's a great song!! It's the '70s and Rod Stewart!!
Many started to compromise toward the late 70's. Unfortunate but true.
GREAT PICK!!!
You reacted to humble pie (black coffee) with the amazing steve marriot who was the former front man to the small faces before they became the faces a :)
You should check him out with Jeff Beck Group on the album Truth
I agree with Dominika, 'rockin Rod' is better than 'sex symbol Rod". The Small Faces' tune "Ooh La La" is a great song too. ☮🤎🎶
Maggie May is my favorite of Stewart’s songs.
watch the live version
For me, this is Rod Stewart’s best song and also Faces best song. Always enjoy your reactions. They are so much fun. Happy new year to both of you.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Maggie May is the next Rod rocker you should listen to.
Try I ain’t superstitious next. The riff is 🔥🔥
Now,...... you must do 'In a Broken Dream' by Python Lee Jackson (Rod Stewart lead singer) from 1972. You won't regret it, promise.......
Rod be a player 😅
Party on , Garth ?
I think they were poking fun at men who seek those sorts of shallow relationships as well. Don't get too literal and enjoy the crunching, rocking groove.
I'd suggest "I'm Losing You" as well. Kind of a counterbalance lyrically.
Be the first to react to Neil Young / will to love
Great reaction. Wrong lyrics are a real distraction. Good advice by Dominika, don’t take the lyrics too seriously.
You're right about Rod Stewart, D. He was doing great music/songs in the early-mid 70s, but by the late 70s to early 80s he was doing commercial pop songs that did nothing for me.
Great tune! The lyrics that are showing up on your video are hilariously wrong!
Whoever put in the lyrics in your video should have learned beforehand what the lyrics were, that was terrible, but your reaction and the song choice was excellent..
Try Hot Legs
Rod Stewart before he sucked
this is a classic monster...i was 13 when this was released.. rod stewart sang with them.
Rock music is nothing without sex and allure
Wow, those lyrics you're viewing aren't very accurate. Funny but way off.
HUSBAND GOT IT 100% CORRECT HAHAHAHAHA. AND YOURE RIGHT HIS LATER MUSIC SUCKED.
