Bang on, on the "don't care". To each is own, everyone drives differently. And I was guilty early on of swapping stuff out that didn't need to be swapped out. It's so easy to get influenced by videos and excited, but you're right, I too have slowly stopped swapping things out that are fully functional.
Thanks for taking us down memory lane… right there with you I remember the the old school electronics I sold my cox hobbies “bandito” buggy to my cousin he still runs it on the original manual speed controller and old school radio lol… it works and still makes me smile
I've learned that the defender is the in-between wheelbass. The Blazer or Bronco is shorter. But the Chevy K10 or Ford F150 HIGH trail is longer. There's actually 3 TRX4,s that I still want, The Defender, and the Mercedes. 4 x 4 and 6 x 6. Great video buddy. thanks.
I have a good staple of TRX-4s and have had no issues with any of them. Same with my Axial, Vanquish and Redcat RCs! They have all performed well. I have installed HW Fusions in all of them and Treal wheels with Proline tires of the appropriate style. And adjusted the shock oil where needed.. I own Traxxas Slash Maxx, Slash VXL 2WD, Ultimate, Maxx V2, E-Revo & UDR. Of those, the UDR suffered a fatal flaw of the ESC a year in and Traxxas replaced it under warranty. I just purchased the Sport with Traxx in blue because I got tired of wishing I had one! :) The majority of "critics" on YT would be best served by turning their criticism toward themselves instead of ANY successful company out here trying to stay afloat in a world of cut-throats! Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and count your blessings my friends...
Sounds like you have a great collection! And your experience has been the same as mine! Merry Christmas to you also, and I never forget my blessings I see them everyday!😁
I use Traxxas axles on both my competition trucks. Love'em. Never had a mechanical failure. Got brass pieces and OD/UD gears and trimmed for max turn radius. Very capable, no worries!
Thanks for the " rant" your spot on my first hobby grade rig was a redact rs10 moa crawler was it perfect no but we had a lot of fun with them my current 1/10 scale is a remo hobby 10.2 "clone" the electronics are great nice low speed modulation metal gear servo bearings and metal gears all around my only complaint is the diffs are huge and the panhard bar hits it a couple of mm before full compression but for $185 it's great value for the money, like you I enjoy finding what needs fixed and fixing it. thanks for sharing.
My Trx4's have never let me down. I did burn up a stock 27 turn motor when I installed the SSD straight axle kit. It couldnt handle the speed. otherwise all good. I like my Traxxas stuff. Thanks for the video. Good chat.
Good show again. I just got back in RC and based pretty much on your descriptions I grabbed a Redcat Gen8 Scout and a TRX4 Defender, and they both blew me away. You drive them differently is the basic difference to me and just get all you can from them. Both are so good.
Iike the 2 speeds and locking diffs, the locking diffs are kinda a nice more scale feature to me. Anyone says those trx4s aren't super dependable is crazy. Only thing I've ever had to replace is the steering servos all my Trx4s all 6 I've owned the servos were just terrible but that was for me. Everyone has a difference especially how one drives and where and what they are doing with it. I have a pushed as far as I can Trx4 sport with absolutely no weight that'll hang with some LCG rugs performance wise. You can really squeeze great capabilities with that Trx4 platform. Great video buddy. My Trx6 Hauler will always be my absolute favorite trail rig I think I've ever owned. Guys get upset when we go trailing and I don't bring it lol! I almost always haul out a broken rig off the trail. I to don't understand the 100s of views and maybe 20 or so likes 🤔 🤷. I've tried on my channel I hate even asking for people to do it anymore.
I’ve had a couple Traxxas rigs and they both brought a smile to my face, but even more so to my grandsons face. I like to think of myself as a different type of enthusiast than the ones you mentioned a 3rd so to speak… I tend to pick what is visually appealing, then research it extensively and order whatever I think it’s lacking to make it perform to my standards. However I always run them stock to get the comparison footage to see if I achieved my goal. And just so you know nightbot has been properly punished 😂 . And what story time with Uncle Gerry is complete without a mention of “Elv-lis” as my Dad “The OG Redneck” so aptly called him 🤙
Great table talk video 😀. I have two rtr's , bronco and defender, both bone stock, have five sport build kits each one i built a little different and not one problem with any of them. I never try to over extend their capabilities MOST! of the time. In my opinion Traxxas makes a damn good product
I love my trx4s...I've got the 79 n 21 broncos an a trx sport... and a trx6 hauler I love me some traxxas......also got a redcat gen 8 an I love it an I Got some rc4wd an I like em all for different reasons...
Great review and talk ab out the Traxxas Brand. Once I get past Xmas (spoiling my kids) I am seriously considering picking up a TRX4. I really want one and am intrigued. Your defender looks awesome BTW. Thanks for the entertaining video!
Hey Gerry! Love the video man I’m guna be a loyal follower now buddy I enjoy this stuff ! I have two Trx4ms steering servo went on one. I’ve been into the hobby since I was a kid but never got a hobby grade until 2018! Keep up the awesome job I’ll be commenting more and I’ll post whatever I can ! You inspire many of us and let it fly! Thank you again Sir
I'm seriously considering a TRX4 High Trail K10. I have 3 FMS FCX10 Blazers, a Redcat Gen 8, and a Redcat Gen 9. I like them all, but am really wanting to know how the Traxxas compares to the FCX10.

I know, it's easy to get caught up in the hype! But we learn from our mistakes for sure!
Thanks for taking us down memory lane… right there with you I remember the the old school electronics
I sold my cox hobbies “bandito” buggy to my cousin he still runs it on the original manual speed controller and old school radio lol… it works and still makes me smile
Those old school electronics were so simple and fun!

Yes there are a lot of choices out there! And there are actually 4 wheel bases not counting the 6 wheelers! So many!😁😁😁
25:13 👍 👍
Thanks bud!

Merry Christmas to you also, and I never forget my blessings I see them everyday!😁
I absolutely love your videos. I love everything about the RC hobby. About what I like and I don't care who makes it.
Me too, that’s what makes it so fun! And thank you so much 👍
I use Traxxas axles on both my competition trucks. Love'em. Never had a mechanical failure. Got brass pieces and OD/UD gears and trimmed for max turn radius. Very capable, no worries!
Those axles can be a real workhorse!

Those clones can be a really good value for the money!

They’re definitely a fun truck! That was pretty fun watching your straight axle rip it up!
Great segment. Loved story time. Have a great day.
I’m glad you liked it, you too!
Love to see your rc collection, I too love old 50s and 60s rock and roll my father got me hooked on it. Love the channel Gerry... Thank you
Thanks! It's good music for sure.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying them! And also your welcome for me helping you spend your money 🤣😁
I've had a few problems.
Loved it, love the TX.R 4s
We all do but usually easy fixes!
Great!, Just great! I was going to use the "story time" line for my segment..... Story time with Doug!, Just great! Thanks a lot! LOL
We can't all be as original as Gerry! 🤣 still use it I won't tell anyone!
@@gerrysoldguyreview i'm just kidding. As you can see the best I could come up with was "....and stuff" on my last video!
I was intrigued by stuff!

I think we can all agree on the servo situation with those rigs! 😂
Love both of my trx6's, I can't believe how good the hauler is!
Good story time 👏 have a good day battle
Thanks my friend!

Got a high trail Chevy K 10 with brass all the way around and it does my yard just fine so far
I built my own version 2yrs ago and is a monster!

Very similar, trx4 is dumbed down , point and shot but also bullet proof! Fms is more technical which is nice.
