@@recession81 They're not terrible, it's what you've gotten used to. It's similar to how some people love steep concave boards, whilst others swear by low concave. Honestly, if the twin tails or double kicks are any good in terms of shape and size, it's more convenient to ride on IMHO.
@@Patrick_Andrews917 You will find some very very decent ones amongst the freestyle decks out there. Do a search for Waltz and another one for Never Enough. The only downside if there is one is how these decks were designed with freestyle in mind, so don't expect a too steep concave unless it is explicitly mentioned. These are mostly mellow to low concave.
Five more seconds of talking and you would have had yourself a UA-cam-friendly ten minute long video, fella. I always wanted a twin-tip, but it hasn’t happened yet. Update: I now have 2 and honestly I couldn’t be happier. I skate a lot of switch and I realise now this is what I’ve been waiting my whole life for.
ishod, the way you pronounced it is correct. EYEshod (like iPod) is his nickname. he hates being called EEshod. glad you got used to the twin tail. i’ll probably stick with it for my daily setup. i like not having to worry which side is which, the extended life of the deck because you skate both sides equally, & the consistent feeling pop. try the 8 or 8.5... feels more like a twin nose with fatter tails
I love the idea of a twin tail. Not worrying about front/back truck and not worrying about the direction of the board in lines. Also, they can last longer because if you chip it, just flip it around! I just don’t know if I can reprogram my brain 😂
I've skated Reals in the past and I LOVED that feel of both tail and the nose being identical. Probably going to have to try another one out again, since I skate thunders and they seem to work quite nicely together.
I think like that all the time about many different things and the conclusion I always come to is just like you said, “life is weird” great review as always my dude!👍
It looks like a perfect deck for me. Especially because when I started skating I used to ride my board backwards all the time xd And maan, that ending :D This whole video in its form is a great explanation why I like your channel so much
Interesting observation about muscle memory and board shapes. I skated between 89 and 93, and managed to assemble a nice set of tricks, including nose manuals to whatever. I started skateboarding again more or less recently and I just think that noses are way to big. Granted, I forgot everything, but nose manuals and everything nose-wise are particularly difficult, just because I won't get use to these big noses. So this deck may be what I was looking for.
definitely going to get one of these, I'm a beginner skater (started about 4-5 months ago) so I have very minimal skate muscle memory. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for your review Ben . I think Vison cam out with the first twin tail. I could be wrong but it was the big Rectangular older style tail. My friends and I didn’t know what to think . The guy was pretty good . It did not take off it was ahead of its time . Might have to try the newer version.
Another sincere & super helpful review and the closing thoughts were indeed weird, subjective and similar thoughts occur to me when I'm sat puffing my old lungs out and rubbing my jellified legs down post skate.
I'm riding one since I'm 16 (37 now) and back in the day I didn't even know that it wasn't a "regular" skateboard. Still love it to this day and I still ride it every now and then. Oh yeah, a big + for them also might be the crazy durabilty, since I own it and it's still perfectly usable for 21 years now. Also another + is that as you said you stand on it way more stable so you might even not need skateshoes at all (at least I just always use my regular sneakers for it and for me it always works fine)
So much room for flicking with a twin tail! Anything below an 8 feels weird for me. I think this'll be my next board. Also damn good skating you put on.
I think this will be my next deck! I always asked myself why Nose and Tail are different. Now I can do Varial Flips with it and dont have to ride with the strange feel to get the deck in the correct position again 😂 same for shove its! Awesome!
In the new board drop from real they released a custom shape for Kyle Walker it is slick and mellow concave it comes in 8.0 and 8.38. I love to hear wat you think about it
I'm in the same age group as you and I'm surprised you never got any decent sponsors back in the day(just assuming you never tried my bad if you did) cause you still got great skills man. Thanks for the vids are prepping street ledges too! I live in a small town and I've been able to make some new spots :)
@@bendegros dang. If you skated how you do right now back in the day I think you coulda had a good career bro. Its all good though I had to grow up and do the adulting as well lol. I at least picked up a shop sponsor for alittle while then just took out my knee and got a 9-5 haha. Keep up the good work, love you vids!
I used to skate in 80's and the current design looks to allow more control over the board. The things they do now is mind blowing. I think its because of the new design. Two tails
Truly symmetrical boards (like Ben is reviewing in this video) are still vary rare to find in shops being that theres only a half dozen or so pros that are known to ride twin tail or twin nose shapes. What your referring to is actually known as a popsicle shaped deck, which are near symmetrical but the nose and tail are slightly different usually in length and/or steepness. But yes popsicle shaped boards hugely progessed the sport and opened up a whole new world of tricks to skateboarders. Twin tail/twin nose shapes (truely symmetrical boards) are a new trend thats emerging and could be the next major industry change when it comes to decks, in another 5 to 10 years symmetrical decks might be the new norm.
I like the idea of having identical sides to help your board last longer, but like you said you do need a bit more on the nose to do nollie tricks for some reason. Also with the way your trucks develop Grooves, it would be weird trying to do tricks against those grooves
I always liked this type of board. About your thought at the end, and being an objectivist, I think it's wonderful that we take raw material and build such useful and fun things. We take the wild, aggressive and insecure nature and make it safe and enjoyable. In my view, the planet is getting better and better with us.
Great videon. I will definitely give this board a go. Edit: months later I did give this board a go. I must have liked it because I stayed with it for longer than most boards.
Just got a hotel blue which is the closest to a twin tail (or maybe twin nose?) that I've ever ridden. It was instant love for me. As a kid, I never got the significant size difference between tail and nose. Even after 8 years or whatever it never felt right to me. Just rode the hotel blue at the park and it was amazing. Never had to think about direction of the board when setting up for a trick. It's not quite twin, but it's close enough I can't see or feel the difference... Maybe it's the perfect shape?!
I personally think I would love this set up. I use to skate with the tail in front be cause I like how it flicked off of my toe. But I would Ollie bigger drops off the tail as well because I felt more comfortable popping it that way
I have an 8.5 twin tail that I use as a "hybrid cruiser" it has OJ super juice and thunder hollows. The absurd lightness of those trucks balances out the wheels and makes the set-up way too much fun.
I want a twin nose board now. 6.75 nose. 6.75 nose. Medium concave. 8.275 wide. 14 wheel base. I had an ishod symmetrical board years back and it was my first bigger board, 8.38. It killed me on the size but I think the wheel base was what killed me. I found an enjoi with a 8.25 size and twin tails. It was amazing. Favorite board hands down
I just got into skateboarding a few months ago. I assumed all boards were symmetrical including the Creature complete I got at a shop, but I was wrong. Kinda disappointed because now I get too obsessed about which way my board is pointing so I can Ollie properly lol. I suppose I'll get a twin tail deck next whenever it wears out.
You know its funny, because the tail used to be bigger then the nose. That worked fine for a long time, and it still does to this day. I wish it was still the industry standard, along with shaped boards.
6.6 in for both kicks is small. If they did something like 6.8/7 in per kick I'd be more willing to shell out the dough on one. I have an AWS right now with a huge nose and tail and it feels very secure
I just bought a verb deck for super cheap, and I've always been under the mindset that I can adapt and get use to almost any deck I buy. But geez the kick on the deck is so high and every trick feels extremely different. Realized I need to be more particular from now on.
I definitely want to give this or the ishod fade twin tail in 8.25 a try but I can't find either of these decks in stock online. One on Amazon but it's $52 plus $14 shipping. A little pricey.
I just bought my first skateboard and didn't know what the TT meant until after I pushed the buy button. Guess we'll see how it works out for a beginner :)
What the actual heck...just a few months ago I was watching you repair drywall and now this pops up in my recommended videos? It’s a small and wild world
I had an 8.38 ishod ‘peachy ‘ deck . Was great went hard but snapped after 23 days . Now have the same one but 8.5 . Twin tails are sick i dont know why all companies dont sell at least 1
Hello there,Great Video and unexpected end too. I mean twin tails looks like for me Ambidextrous decks, Tell us something about it.
Ben, I've been watching you skate different setups for around a year now, and I have to say this one seems to work the best for your style so far. I suggest trying the Ishod twin tail on Thunder 149's with 52mm spitfire F4 classics.

I wish a lot more companies offered twin tails.
I've always wondered why it's so hard to find a symmetrical deck....
had a sky-blue real deck like 3 years ago. it was like a double-nose deck and it was awesome.
For real. The only other ones I've seen are some of the Dwindle decks. Notably, the Almost Uber Light, and some enjoi and pricepoint Blind decks.
