@17:25 It's interesting that you say that because there is a short barrel model .500 Mag revolver that is sold as part of a "Bear Kit" for emergency defense against grizzlies. I almost bought one of those kits a few years ago even though there are zero grizzlies where I live. A near-snub-nose .500SW has got to be a blast (pun intended) to shoot.
The term caliber refers to a 100th of an inch. So, if you say .45 caliber. That translates to 0.45 inches. Though it's a little more specific 1 mm is .04 inches essentially, so .45 caliber is close to 12 mm just a little less. So if you ever hear .50 caliber you'll now know it's 12.5 mm. Take the caliber convert it to a decimal (if it's not already)and divide it by .04 and you'll have a rough estimate for how big it is.
.500 S&W Magnum is a 50 caliber handgun. its also the most powerful handgun cartridge in the world..... Also. Mat Best and Demo Matt are actually friends. Theres vlogs out there of them hanging out and Demo was on Mat's podcast..... you should check out Donut Operator too
"Handgun cartridge" is not a well defined term. You can get a hand gun chambered in .45-70 or .30-06 if you want. Using handgun cartridge in the sense of a round designed for handgun use, the 500 S&W is up there, but there are several others like the 500 Linebaugh, 475 Linebaugh that can be stoked up because of the case length. I will agree though, Underwood Ammo is very, very nice - well made, consistent and potent.
I had five .38 rounds in a revolver (first time shooting a new pistol, and a long time since firing .357 magnum) and one .357 magnum round...the difference in power was amazing. I swapped out to .357 rounds...too much fun.
Arthur: "This gun would shoot a bear lovely". Well you a pretty spot on... The Model 500 is great as a side carry while hunting in the woods. Its caliber is good to stop charging bears, moose, large boar, or anything else that might consider you prey or a threat.

They've got some stories about stopping for a rest by a fresh kill and chilling for a sec. Out of nowhere this huge grizzly charges them. Those Grizzlies are so big and powerful I thought they were slow and loud. Nope. Theres this one story about the biggest grizzly ever killed. Standing on its legs it was 14 feet high. When they cut it up they found multiple bullets from past encounters. They also found a person, one of the guns that shot it and other things. I'll never underestimate a grizzly after that.
The penetration question you asked at around 21:15 is actually one of the main reasons we have so many types of ammunition believe it or not. The question is somewhat complicated however by two main factors: where do you hit them, and at what angle (since you asked about through-and-through specifically in regards to a person's body). The following is fairly long so be ready, but it's fairly detailed. For a more visual example of what I refer to as "delivering energy" to a target, look at some tests on UA-cam on ammunition tests on Ballistics Gel, especially slow motion stuff; the target can have it's flaws depending on how it's made, but it will express the exact concept of energy vs penetration pretty easily. Most FMJ (Full Metal Jacket, the standard of most military rifles and handguns) is capable of going straight through someone, even out of a handgun, if you hit them in the right spot. The largest area I can think of for a wound like this would be the two areas below your ribcage directly below your nipples: the area of the abdomen that's between your spine, ribcage and hip bones. hitting someone there if squared up to the shooter is likely to cause a pass-through type wound with many military-supplied weapons; this is due to the fact that the ammo isn't designed to expand or fragment (expanding/fragmenting ammo is technically against the rules of the Hague Convention of 1899 which prohibits the use of expanding ammunition in international war). There are other smaller areas where bullets can pass straight through doing minimal, but often still fairly dangerous, damage to someone. See most of the damage a bullet does, as a general rule, is through the delivery of energy to the target; the actual hole it leaves in the target can accelerate bleeding of course, but the shockwave of force that is delivered by the round HITTING you is what does a LARGE part of the damage to the body. Thus, in the Self-Defense, Law Enforcement and Security roles, where they are allowed to use expanding ammunition types, they use them since they deliver the energy more fully and, arguably most importantly, can prevent accidental casualties from over-penetration. The most common types of expanding ammunition generally used are: - HP, or Hollow Points: Projectiles with cavities built into the front end of the projectile, generally designed to provide resistance (increasing force delivery) and causing the round to expand in diameter which provides even MORE resistance, delivering a large amount of the energy to the target. - SP, or Soft Points: Similar to the HP in effect, though arguably more crude on the engineering side and sometimes more effective; these projectiles have the point of their lead cores exposed causing the softer lead to being to flatten almost immediately upon hitting solid resistance. The points on many SPs are generally more rounded than their FMJ equivalents, though their is a variant called the PSP, or Pointed Soft Point, that makes them look more similar in their "sharpness." - F (Sometimes FR), or Fragmenting: These rounds differ fairly significantly from the other two in that, while the other two GENERALLY stay together in one piece, even as they get bigger, the Fragmenting style ammo is DESIGNED to come apart inside the target, often creating many small wound channels leading off of the main wound cavity, delivering a LOT of energy to the target and drastically increasing the rate of blood loss due to the multiple smaller wounds. *Note for 5.56x45mm NATO and 5.45x39mm Russian Ammunition, and certainly other types of ammunition: The 5.56 NATO and 5.45 Russian ammo works around the Hague Convention of 1899 by being designed with the goal of causing the projectile to tumble, which has a similar effect to expanding bullets despite not ACTUALLY expanding. It yaws sideways to increase its surface area and drag and cause more damage. Image doing a belly-flop into the water versus doing a dive; that's a good example of the whole energy vs penetration thing as well.

Theres vlogs out there of them hanging out and Demo was on Mat's podcast..... you should check out Donut Operator too
@@ebreshea1337 that is correct. Magnum rounds are hotter loads.
He was asking about .500sw VS .50ae I think.
.500sw is a good bit longer than .50ae which is already a magnum .50 caliber.
Arthur: "This gun would shoot a bear lovely". Well you a pretty spot on... The Model 500 is great as a side carry while hunting in the woods. Its caliber is good to stop charging bears, moose, large boar, or anything else that might consider you prey or a threat.
A charging grizzly would need a few rounds to be safe.
@@olliefoxx7165 They really don't like to stop! Then again if it's charging you, you tend to be at fault. Unless it's a camping incident, but even then that can be do to food storage negligence.
@@underlvlmagikarp7247 True. Do you listen to Rogan's podcast? He has guys on from Canada and Alaska that hunt.
I’m subscribing just because it took some serious balls to do a song. Nice one bro 🤙
The most common types of expanding ammunition generally used are:
- HP, or Hollow Points: Projectiles with cavities built into the front end of the projectile, generally designed to provide resistance (increasing force delivery) and causing the round to expand in diameter which provides even MORE resistance, delivering a large amount of the energy to the target.
- SP, or Soft Points: Similar to the HP in effect, though arguably more crude on the engineering side and sometimes more effective; these projectiles have the point of their lead cores exposed causing the softer lead to being to flatten almost immediately upon hitting solid resistance. The points on many SPs are generally more rounded than their FMJ equivalents, though their is a variant called the PSP, or Pointed Soft Point, that makes them look more similar in their "sharpness."
- F (Sometimes FR), or Fragmenting: These rounds differ fairly significantly from the other two in that, while the other two GENERALLY stay together in one piece, even as they get bigger, the Fragmenting style ammo is DESIGNED to come apart inside the target, often creating many small wound channels leading off of the main wound cavity, delivering a LOT of energy to the target and drastically increasing the rate of blood loss due to the multiple smaller wounds.
*Note for 5.56x45mm NATO and 5.45x39mm Russian Ammunition, and certainly other types of ammunition:
The 5.56 NATO and 5.45 Russian ammo works around the Hague Convention of 1899 by being designed with the goal of causing the projectile to tumble, which has a similar effect to expanding bullets despite not ACTUALLY expanding. It yaws sideways to increase its surface area and drag and cause more damage. Image doing a belly-flop into the water versus doing a dive; that's a good example of the whole energy vs penetration thing as well.
You should watch AR guys vs AK guys, it’s a Demolition Ranch and Mat Best collab.
Your English is actually very good for being a non-native speaker.. you came up with the word spontaneous when I couldn't even think of it.
I think he lived in America for a little while
@@crash8051 nice name
Me looking at everyone that doesn’t know the language of the country they live in.
Ok, first off somebody show that song to Demolition Ranch
2nd: THAT SONG WAS AWESOME
Literally only the 3rd video I've seen of yours and I think I'm hooked. New subscriber for you my friend.
I'm a NAVY veteran. I love America the land I was born in. I so respect the way you seem to love our country also. The country is so divided I don't begin to know where we are going!
that song was pretty lit ngl
Oh shit. When the songs chorus kicked in.
I was like ohh. Hello
"If a .50 BMG hits a human, what happens?"
_*Pink Mist._
Meat piñada
M-80 up a bullfrogs ass haha
More like a spray of meat blood bones and organs of various types of viscous matter
Better answer "what human?"
Most gun guys enjoy explaining things about guns to people who dont know. They may give you shit, but we love to share knowledge with those who seek it and we respect it! I really enjoy watching your perspective and your content, keep up the amazing work
Hello and Much Love and Respect ✊❤️ from Kentucky USA 🇺🇸
If you enjoy reacting to demolition ranch, you will enjoy reacting to fps Russia, sadly he doesn't Upload anymore but the content is still very funny
How come?
Unfortunately, fpsRussia is a felon and can't own guns anymore.
@@explosivegaming2234 went to prison, became a felon, idk his story to the fullest but got caught up in legal troubles with his guns I believe and some guys murder.
@@Mehhhh- the murder has nothing to do with kyle. he was arrested for having pot
What about Kentucky Ballistics? I think Artur should react to him.
If u want to see some crazy shot gun rounds look into the taofledermaus channel on UA-cam they shoot all kinds of shot gun rounds even home made slugs
hey i've been linking the last one you did on demo ranch and off the ranch videos every time matt posts one trying to get him to see it. i'll link this one too.
Feels good to be first

Fun fact, there are even magnum rifle cartridges that exist. However, I'm pretty sure they're for safari rifles only. The two that I know of are: 375 H&H magnum, and 457 Winchester magnum
27:40 "The joke is on me, actually; I got very excited about millimeters, and... I guess all of America uses millimeters?"
Our military uses metric. Metric is objectively more intuitive, and it's easier to work with our global allies who also use metric. Most civvies still use imperial measurements unless they're talking about a two liter bottle of Coke or something.
You'll be warmly welcomed to America after the pandemic calms down, Artur. Vegas has great ranges for civilians to play with heavy weapons on, and I presume that Texas does too, so either of them would be great for you. For that matter, I bet you'd be welcomed to Demolition Ranch itself if you reached out to him! Start a segment on your show where you're asking for Bitcoin or Etherium donations to fund a trip to America next year, and you'll prolly be floored and humbled by how quickly it fills up!
"Such a beautiful little hole"

500 magnum, for when there’s a burglar in your neighbours house and you want to shoot him through the fridge
He is a Veterinarian. I love that he has lots of guns. I wish I did. The green tip is a 5.56x45mm NATO 62 grain FMJ round for AR, M-4 or M-16 weapons that has a steel penetrator that is inside the copper jacket. It can punch through concrete block and thin steel that would deform regular jacketed rounds. It is a favorite of mine.
You look Happy and Healthy stay Up brotha!!!
