I created my first character and played my first dnd session last night with some co-workers after binge watching several of your videos. It was everyone's first time and i sent everyone links for your videos and youtube. Your videos are very helpful and make the first learning curve easier to understand. Our dm started us on the Storm kings thunder and i got knocked down to 0 hps a couple of times but kept getting up and we still prevailed. please keep up the good work. Thank you very much.

I had my first D&D session 2 weeks ago and I came prepared as one can be with my character sheet done for my sorcerer and a basic understanding of the game mechanics thanks to you. when I made my sorcerer character, we were using the variant human rules, so I took the tough feat, and with my draconic bloodline, and a +3 constitution modifier, I have 12 HP and an AC of 13 at level one
This was unbelievably useful thank you. I usually play classes that don't really mess with magic so this video gave me a good chance to broaden my D&D horizons :)

Basically, whenever we were doing something we were meant to, or we were in an area we weren't meant to be, and a guard confronted us (once even a knight confronted us), I would try to tell him I have that feature, and I want to convince them that everything's fine. My brother's response was always "Yeah, they don't care about your position of power..."

If you fill out the class skills first and then pick background, you get to replace any duplicate skills you would've gained from your background with any other skill. Rules for this can be found in the player's handbook, p.118 (I think) under "Proficiencies". Hope that helps in case you want to min-max or get an easier time getting a combination of skills that you like :)

What do I do to be a necromancer? I personally like the idea of a dark entity who is just a bit bored and wants to create a kingdom on a whim. I honestly don’t know what to do about it, and have no idea how to make a necromancer. Mind giving me a tip or two?
How does one justify sorcerers learning new spells as they level up in a moderately "low fantasy"-type setting? I'd like my sorcerers decisions to be made in game somehow. Wizards retrieve lore and spell books and I really like that feeling and I wish there was a way to translate that to sorcerers in a way that makes sense thematically.

Aww. Thanks man. Great compliment. I can definitely try to recap the skill modifiers in the future. If you are watching in HD on a decent screen it should be pretty easy to see, but I know a lot of people watch on small screens or don't have great internet connection so it's a good suggestion.
I thought the feat Lucky allows one to roll an additional roll? (Making it an advantage AND turning disadvantage to advantages too...) It's an interesting feat, and COULD allow for some powerful moments.. Not my kinda thing~ I'd rather have Tavern Brawler! xDD
Hello, I started playing couple weeks ago. And was wondering how you get your Atk Bonus and what is it used for? And do you have to be proficient with that weapon to get the atk bonus?
mastertaekwondooo attack bonus is str or dex modifier plus proficiency bonus, its used to determine weather or not you hit, if your roll plus your attack score is higher than their ac then you hit, if not you miss yes you have to be proficient to add the proficiency modifier, but you can still attack if not proficient. Yes i know its been a year, and you probably already know this, i answered for people who were scrolling through, and also didnt know.
How does sorcery points work and what does converting spell slots to sorcery points mean? I cant see anywhere on your spell sheets where you add sorcery points.

Basically, starting at your 2nd level of Sorcerer, you have a number of Sorcery points equal to your level. These can be used to fuel any Metamagic abilities you have (you pick your first 2 of these at 3rd level), as well these points can be spent to 'recharge' one of your expended spell slots. you can do this for any spell slot up to 5th level. A first level slot cost 2 sorcery points to recharge, a 2rd level slot costs 3 points, and so on. As well, you can convert your spell slots into extra sorcery points, up to your current maximum (I.E. your current level) The full information on this ability can be found on page 101 of the Player's Handbook.
Oh! Haha. So, I'm dumb. See if I'd looked in the book I'd have seen that, but given this is a first level sorcerer and I've never actually played one I made the foolish assumption that sorcery points must be from a previous edition of D&D.
So, if you get a 22 for an ability score you're doing something wrong. If you are rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest, the highest you can get is an 18. Don't forget to drop the lowest. :)
So you would drop the die with the lowest roll. That would be one of the 5s in this case. Then you have two 6s and one 5 left. For a total of 17. You can do level 3 bard and level 2 sorcerer. Just make sure you look up how to properly multiclass. Good luck! :)

I thought for passive perception is 10 add your wisdom mod and only ad perception mod if you are proficient

You always add your perception bonus, but your perception bonus will be higher when you are proficient.

Your formula don't work on ability scores below 10. Your 7 will be -1, and your 5 will be -2.
I'm looking at the 5th edition player's handbook and it shows the modifier as -2 for scores of 6-7 and -3 for scores of 4-5. It seems to work.

Debatable. I just googled the pronunciation and two of the three sources I found pronounced it the way I do in this video.
