Niklas LW she’s underrated in the sense that she’s always been in the shadow of others - Weiber and Douglas has all the headlines in 2012 and Biles in 2016. It’s just timing. If you look at records, most in the gymnastics community would probably put Aly as the third greatest American gymnast behind Biles and Miller but she is rarely considered as such in general.
I just really love her attitude and personality. She is better now than four years ago. Her flexibility is better in her leaps, her tumbles look stronger and higher and she is just so solid. I knew she was going to surprise people in London. Something told me she was going to surprise people and she did. So happy for her to be back and looking better than ever. Good luck and Rock on!
+dronetalk 316 lol have you ever met a man.....yall never shut up but you don't even realize how much you talk, and talk over women....also like it's not like no man has ever commented on some professional athlete expressing admiration for them & happiness about their success, like tf is wrong w that, why can't some ppl just let ppl be happy without being buzzkills for no reason...
True words. Been there before. lol One night years ago I was talking to my brother on the phone and he talked for three hours...three freaking hours!! I got maybe 15 mins of talking. I was exhausted and realized it's not true that women talk a lot. Men talk way more. lol Have a great day!
"Aaw. The human body can do so many amazing things." - said by me, while sitting in an 8-hour desk job with a huge belly. And I'm gonna die without even learning a proper cartwheel.
+Theologos Just cutting out soda helped that much? How many did you drink a day before you quit drinking them? I'm really curious since I drink them daily myself. 🤔
It's primarily from cutting out processed carbohydrates or simple sugars. These wreck your insulin levels and cause fat storage, so removing them from your diet is a great way to lose weight and be healthier. Plus, cutting out those simple carbs from sodas (juice too) lowers how much water you tend to hold, so it helps reduce bloat.
This is such a thing of beauty, glad they replayed it so many times and broke it down because I would have been sitting here hitting the replay button repeatedly otherwise! Really fascinating to see all that goes into that tumbling pass
During the Olympics this year I had an argument with a dude on a news forum, who said gymnastics wasn't a sport, it was a hobby. He considered soccer to be a real sport. Seeing this, once again makes my blood boil over his ignorance.
Joy ce so soccer can be a sport while gymnastic can't? I agree with you 100%. Gymnastic combines beauty with hard work and all the while being a sport. ( sorry if it seems mean to YOU but I agree with you and how gymnastic is and can be a sport.)
MAN DOES THIA PROBLEM REMIND ME OF SOMETHING... HMMM MAYBE DANCE. (sorry I am a competitive dancer and it really annoys me when someone is like "oh yeah dance isn't a sport")
Joy ce omg yes like out of all sports gymnastics is the one that makes u the strongest and is the most competitive just bc it's not like a team doesn't make it not a sport, people don't know how strong u have to be
Really loved how broken down and well explained this pass was. Enjoyed the info-graphics, very helpful. And I like the layout at the end. I don't know why but I really love that move and thing it is very pretty and so neat to watch.
I love watching gymnastics. I did it briefly as a kid but never at this level. The things they can do with their bodies are amazing and beautiful. And this sport is not for the faint of heart. These women are incredibly strong and have to be fearless to do what they do. I’m always in awe.
She’s so inspiring and so goood at what she does. She really inspires me to set goals and to never give up. Keep up the great work @ Aly Raisman. 💕👏🏼👏🏼You are going to do sooo good! Keep it up!!!
@@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre1504 you've probably never been sexually assaulted then. she didnt just say it happened to her, it did happen. he was convicted and went to jail for it and it happened to hundreds of other girls too. there is literally no correlation between her abuse and her choosing to do a nude photoshoot but your ignorant little lizard brain can only think "if she was molested (that is if she didnt make the whole thing up) shouldnt she be ahsamed of her body and all things remotely sexual for the rest of her life?" and it wasnt just a naked photoshoot it was the ESPN body issue that is meant to celebrate all different types of athletes bodies, not remotely sexual. She has an insanely strong body that earned the USA a gold medal and she has ever right to show off and be proud, if she wants to showcase it in a prestigious magazine its nobody's decision but her own.
For those who are curious about how she did in Rio, she won silver in the floor routine, and silver in the all around. Her team mate, Simone Biles, took gold in both, as well as in the vault.
@heart snob Yes, you are exactly right. Sometimes a field of competition is dominated by a single, amazing, athlete. Competitors who would otherwise win, are repeatedly kept off of the top podium. It's not just about being good, it's about who destiny forces you to compete against.
Gustavo Mendias Well now you're on the other side of the spectrum. I'm sure her teachers saw something in her at a young age that far surpassed that of her peers. That must be her "gift". It's always a combination of the two.
+Locke Sir. mothing is a "gift" it is a continous training. of course their trainers saw "something" added to her many hours of trianing. people said "my mom said I'm gifted in singing. O.k but my question is? do you do any vocal course? any training.. they respond. No. but my momma said I'm gifted"a talent without many hours of training, discipline and failure is Nothing. of curse their parents want her to be gymnast. it is an expensive career too. so .it is a whole package.
Gustavo Mendias Read what I posted. I did not deny that her results came from constant training. That probably accounted for more than 90% of the reason why she is so good at what she does. HOWEVER, you cannot deny the fact that some people, some people (just read this part), have some sort of external outside INCLINATION to be good at certain things. For example, some people are "gifted" athletically, some have higher than average IQ's, some are born with perfect pitch, etc. HOWEVER, most people are not of the above description, so they have to rely on pretty much 100% hard work.
I just remember seeing her do this flawlessly. I remember crying tears with her for being PROUD of her. None of us knew her, we were all at buffalo wild wings, it seemed as if we all stopped breathing as we heard her music on all of the tv screens. She made it look effortless.
Beth Tweddle used to compete the pass without the punch layout to finish so she was probably the closest to achieving it. But she often almost went out of bounds even without the layout so I'm guessing that even though she was probably capable of the skill she wouldn't be able to keep it in bounds.
It's not that uncommon without the layout. Ellie Downie has competed the 1 1/2 to double arabian (sometimes with a leap out of the arabian), and I'm fairly certain the Viktoria Komova did as well. The layout is what makes it so challenging. 0.2 extra in connection value and much more difficult to keep in bounds.
I am so grateful for this kind of high-tech super visual breakdown of the sport. As a spectator, I love gymnastics, but find it so insanely fast that I struggle to fully understand what is happening.

Hey, gymnasts trip on flat surfaces, too. We just hope it's not during a routine.

Aly honestly doesn't get enough credit she's such a great gymnast
It always amazes me when she does that pass. It is unbelievable how talented and graceful Aly is.
Unbelievable. There will never be another like you, Aly Raisman. We're all cheering you on for Rio!
Really loved how broken down and well explained this pass was. Enjoyed the info-graphics, very helpful. And I like the layout at the end. I don't know why but I really love that move and thing it is very pretty and so neat to watch.
I can barely fit a roundoff back handspring layout in one pass, how does she do that??
Really? Across a whole corner to corner...?
i feel you, im so tall for my age and it is really hard!
I'm one 1.65 and just eleven, height can be really annoying in gymnastics!!
She is only like 5'4
Andrea Garcia We're the same age but you're like 20 centimeters taller😂 I'm such a shortie
"Not matter what happens, I've already won" love that
It's always an honour to watch these amazing gymnasts!

shes so incredibly powerful, yet exhibits such a high level of grace. and gorgeous too hehe my favorite gymnast.
Thank you, Aly, for taking the time to walk us through this amazing pass.
And guess what? It got you that gold and silver medal! Hope to see you again, probably one more, at Tokyo!
GeneCARRASCA she said it was her last Olympics
I don't think she'll be back after the Larry Nassar controversy. She's working more towards being a voice for athletes and protecting athletes.
Every one here is a hero, you are beyond every one, and I love you all
These athletes never fail to impress me. They look like they are giving gravity the finger.
jhhwild
Apparently that was the doctor
She’s so inspiring and so goood at what she does. She really inspires me to set goals and to never give up. Keep up the great work @ Aly Raisman. 💕👏🏼👏🏼You are going to do sooo good! Keep it up!!!
It's an overused word but she is amazing. She's so beautiful and strong and seems to defy gravity.
Anyone here after seeing her pull this off in Rio?
yep
Yes! It was amazing!
we dont have tv and it's not anywhere on UA-cam, i want to see her so badly in RIO. :(
+StarChime Edits 101 you can stream and watch everything on the nbc app or website
Derek Shepard but only for 20 minutes and then you have to buy it. :(
We're ALL pulling for you Aly! Best of luck (forever)!
the punch layout really makes this entire routine
Hurts to know what she was going through at this time.
Nymphfy I think she means the abuse that came out.
Chany Goldstein
Yes, the abuse.
I can't watch any 2012 Olympics clips because of things that came out in testimony.

I’m so inspired by aly raisman she is amazing!❤️keep up the hard work! You got this!!
It's insane how gifted she is.
A lot of it is extreme hard work. Don't just put that out of the picture.
discupline and hardwork. not a gift. expending at least 8 hours of training every day!

american olympian aly raisman is beyond extraordinary. i am amazed by her athleticism and grace
Aly, You are are phenomenal in every way possible!
The Punch Layout at the end is just beautiful.
Aly was absolutely stunning to watch. I loved every minute watching her.❤
slow motion makes you appreciate the movements! So much talent! Wow

a really nice video and breakdown of the actual moves well done! Thanks to all involved

Magnificent
aly is definitely not underrated, what great video completely breaking down what makes her routine so amazing
“Sometimes I struggle with being confident”-someone who was a team & individual gold medalist captain at age 18
It shows how much gymnastics has changed over the years, and how much hard work and dedication goes into this amazing sport!
she’s so talented, dedicated, and hardworking. I love her!
as a scrawny guy I am incredibly jealous of her arms... and you know the fact that she is a superhuman
Every time I see her compete I just kinda feel shame looking at her arms, shoulders, and legs... and I'm not even scrawny, just jealous.
go hit the gym, you girly men
Yes, weights.
TI Pilot you would find it far easier to put on muscle than her.
Really good film. The graphics really open the whole tumble, to explain it so clearly
Aly is not only incredibly talented, she's someone to look up to as a strong, brave woman
What a phenomenal athlete/human being! 👌👏👌👏👏🙏
I can't do one cartwheel so...this girl deserves GOLD.
Kanye East LA this comment made me laugh

She is one of my favorites! So confident 🤗🤗🤗
I watched that first tumbling pass when she was at the Olympics over and over. It was just so awesome to see her stick it cold.😁
I love Simone but I really do think Aly should of won gold in floor. Her routine was amazing!!
TheEclipticSmiless are you kidding me ally is awesome but Simon bileses floor routine was out of this world . At this point Simon biles is competing with herself

I could watch her all day. She absolutely fantastic!
I have been out of gymnastics for two years. I have been going to open-gym though, and this video really makes me miss gymnastics. 😢
I love this video for explaining the exercises so clearly.
She’s my absolute favorite gymnast of all time. There’s just a lot about her that I admire, like her personality and her work ethic, just to mention two things. ⚡️🤸♀️⚡️💖
This is insane. That the human body and mind can achieve this, it is absolutely amazing and beautiful.
Love her!!! She's so frickin talented
Amazing breakdown and digital finesse. Amazing video.
Best of luck, Aly! Boa sorte nas Olimpiadas!!
I'm just gonna sit here and continue eating my Pringles. Holy shit.
See this at full speed is insane. You are amazing young lady.
Exxellent job young lady! Im very proud that you represented the U. S. gymnastics team.
one of my favorite gymnasts of all time!!!
I love that tumbling pass. It blew me away in 2012 and I am sure it will blow me away again when she does it in Rio.
Aly Raisman is a beast! How can you not love her?...
The set on that double Arabian is pretty amazing. See goes up for an eternity before even starting the flip. Can definitely learn from this.
1 year later this comes back up in my recommended
Much respect to all these gymnasts 🙌🏼❤️
Great video
Incredible video!
I am seeing that and Im feeling sad cause she is actually retired from this sport. For sure I ll miss Aly in Tokio 2121 and in Gymnastics :(
My favorite part of any floor routine.
Still one of my all time favorite tumble passes!!

I’m reading her book right now and I love it 🥰 she is just so amazing
She makes it look so effortless!
the blend of athleticism and elegance is so amazing to watch. i wish i had such control over my body 😩
Amazing talent. Nice to see she won Gold @ Rio. She is one of only 2 Americans to win back to back golds. Awesome work.
I'd be heartbroken if she didn't make Tokyo 2020.
Silverfoxxee Same! 3 years later, I’m so sad she’s retired.
I hope she comes back for 2020 even though she's probably not. she's amazing
Freaking love her!!
Amazing Aly and to think what you were going through with that monster at that time. Best wishes
Watching this in slow motion with the arrows makes it even more spectacular
It’s still impossible for everyone else but her! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 one of my all time fav passes on floor!
Amazing 😍 she's the best!💪👏😍💓
I haven't done gymnastics in 40 years, but it still amazes me.
And she did it !! She's so awesome !!
This is crazy! So many skills in one pass.
That's a beautiful opening pass 😲👍
I think top gymnasts don't get the real credit they deserve in their dedication to excellence on the floor; the years of training, the bruises and pain, the injuries & healing they endure between matches.
Just imagine the dedication just to get to now, amazing
One of the difficult elements I forget about is how they align them perfectly. They go straight from one corner to the other without going crooked!
Go aly go!
One of my favorite atheletes. I loved this video, thanks!
