Difference you got 7 figures and trust me mila ingot respects 4 u. 4 languages. I got 4 at least. Your friggin smart. My wife is pretty damn smart and i got a 165 iq. Shes better . Ig i said fuck you meg it would be in respect and love. . . . I do understand that pain. Respects mila
I would've never believed Mila Kunis never danced prior to Black Swan. She did such a fantastic job in this role!
Thank you for a nice comment, I started losing hope for a moment… She’s such a sweet person, and a hard working person. Reading some of the comments is pretty disappointing… I hope she didn’t read them
She would’ve had body doubles has well! I know Natalie Portman did despite the painful training they both went through.
@@Nah-ah No she didn’t(she’s Ukrainian). And Portman did about 90% of everything herself. That’s sad you bring it up. You wouldn’t if you understood where Mila comes from and where the directors family is from. Hes classically trained in Ballet and his paternal grandparents are from Ukraine. Soviet Union and ballet were literally synonymous. The standards there do not compare by any means. Unless you cry, class isn’t finished.
Maria Riccetto ( American Ballet Theatre soloist) was Mila Kunis’ dance double, she was used for distance and difficult footwork shots. Mila Kunis was shown when her upper body and face was visible in shot. It’s a shame she didn’t mention this.
@@meganhuggins7494 “Mila Kunis was showing when her upper body and face was visible”- false. Just like Her costar, she did most of the work, plus, she wasn’t the lead. Body doubles are part of most action, art, athletic films. Ballet takes years and years of work, like one has to be almost born to be one, you can’t train in bone structure, the same with true performance, most aren’t natural at it. I don’t see you going after Tom Cruz or anybody else who use doubles. What’s a shame is that you’re trying to hate on her before you go after those who’s footsteps she’s following in. Interesting
i love how she said her injuries, then said she loved every minute of it.. quite profound.. 🌹
Personally, what I take from Mila’s statement in the interview, I don’t have enough information from Ms. Kunis to say she loved every minute of it. Although, she DID say “And, it was worth every minute.” That statement alone doesn’t tell me she necessarily loved doing it. But, I think she is proud of the fact that she did do the film.
I say “Good on Mila! Great job!”
She didn't say she loved every minute of it
I love her as an actress. I hope she makes a movie again one day soon even though I don't condone them reading an impact statement for Danny Masterson at all. Ashton never was that great of an actor to me. She has always been a better one so that's why I hope she acts again even if he doesn't.
@@kevin67kthat’s how I see her statements too.
Being a former ballerina, it is definitely an extremely physically demanding sport.
Ballet is not a sport. It's an art.
@@elianea.c.2294 ballet is like gymnastics, it is both an extremely athletic art and a highly artistic sport.
I miss it
@elianea.c.2294 It's all of the above and than some.
@@elianea.c.2294 You try it and tell us it’s not a sport.
As a former ballerina, I can confirm that it can be truly grueling and very mentally demanding as well. So much so that it can catch you off guard as far as mental health goes if you aren’t careful.
Indeed! I still have trauma responses from my years as a ballerina. I loved it, but also, it was physically, and emotionally draining.
So that movie wasn't too far from the truth then. Yikes
do you think it was really worth it? All of the physical and mental/emotionally trauma?
@@jesse5658as a career ? No highly.competitve only 1% become the greatest. As a hobby ? Yes wony be ptsd and draining.
Ballerinas are a class all their own.
The internet is full of random statements I never thought I’d hear.
No they're not
Damn In the movie she dances so well. It looks effortless. It’s strange to hear she didn’t dance before that. She must be a natural.
She had body doubles who did 90% of the dancing. The level they danced at takes 15+ years to achieve. 280 hrs is not even 4% of the way to the dancing you see in the movie. They did get training, but it is very obvious as a ballet dancer, they're not very good dancers (as in seeing the close ups of like the head to waist, all body shots were basically professionals). The fact they taking credit for all the dancing is defeating the whole purpose of the movie in the first place, and has added to ballet being ridiculed and underappreciated, bc now people think actors can dance like that within 280 hrs. When as a ballet dancer, in that amount of time, you can probably only learn the really basic things that I learnt at like 6.
She's never looked more beautiful.
I saw her & Ashton in a local store, in my tiny city... She wasn't wearing makeup, so she looked fairly "normal" (still pretty but not stunning) but what struck me was how absolutely tiny she is! Not in an unhealthy way, she is just much more slender than I would have expected.
I was a parent helper on one of my son's school trips (a week long). One of the activities was a tour through a theatre which was the HQ of our National Ballet Company. So, we got an insight into the lives of professional Ballet performers .... WOW. As someone who was brought up playing Rugby, Rugby League, other contact sports and a history of the injuries associated with it .... I was blown away on how physically fit, strong and how much pain your average ballet performer goes through. It's mind blowing. There lives are either practicing for the next project, recovering from injuries or staying fit in their spare time ie. gym, crossfit, weights, cardio, etc. They rival a lot of sportsmen for physical strength, mental toughness and pain threshold. When players on a field or court get injured, they get taken off. When ballet performers get injured ... they continue the performance with a smile on their face ... then go to the hospital after.
So, I can understand what she's on about.
Even professional athletes get an off season, but not dancers.
you really described what life was like for me as a young ballet dancer. even if i wasn't dancing professionally, it was all way too serious. when i was 12 i was rehearsing for the end of year spectacle and while running backstage to get changed for the next act i stepped on a 12 cm thick rusty nail. only a couple of centimeters penetrated, the mom of a friend was a doctor and removed it from and i performed on stage that same night for a 4 hours long spectacle en pointe.
While performing with American Ballet Theater, my daughter’s left shoulder came out of joint just before stepping onstage. She danced across stage the best she could and passed out from the pain as she stepped off as discreetly as possible. She woke up with Kevin McKenzie and Misti Copeland standing over her, both asking if she was okay. “Please don’t send me home! I can still dance.” “You stay there. There’s an ambulance on its way.” Surgery and physical therapy helped her get back quickly. My daughter is as tough as any pro-footballer.
.......except.......she has NFI of the world you've described.....despite her superficial brush with it...dancing en pointe requires more than a few weeks "discipline" and a "mind over matter" approach. WHO KNEW?!?!?................ffs #sorrynotsorry
Yeah the reason why athletes get taken away when they’re hurt is because if they can’t beat their opposition that is actively working against them, they are a liability. No one wants them out there limping around proving how tough they are if they can’t win with them doing that.
As much as I love Mila and she did an awesome job it kinda suprises me they hired an actress who never danced to play pro ballerina
She was slim enough and had the body. Not a lot of A or B list of celebrities that even come close to the ballerina body. Or are willing to do that level of commitment.
They needed the acting chops more than the dancing stuff. Natalie Portman won an oscar for the role and I think Mila kunis was actually nominated. So it was clearly more about acting than dancing.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Darren Aronofsky definitely pushed a little to have her in the role. He has an incredible gift of getting the absolute greatest out of his actors, and he loves putting beautiful A-list celebrities through these completely grueling and unconventional, anti-typecast roles. Portman and Kunis in Black Swan, of course, Mickey Rourke in the Wrestler, Brendan Frasier in The Whale, and Ellen Burstyn in Requiem, J-Law in Mother!, are some of the more obvious ones, but think about the smaller roles he casts too. He gets career-best shit out of everyone in his films. Perfect example? Marlon Wayans in Requiem. We don't notice it because the film is extremely visceral, but his performance is fuckin' great! Oscar-worthy, maybe not, but a GOOD god damn acting job. He was perfect for the role, and DA's job as director was to make sure everybody saw it. There are definitely some criticisms about The Whale, but so far, not ONE review says that the acting was so-so.
The ballet instructor who worked on this movie grew up taking lessons from my mother-in-law. My daughter is now with American Ballet Theater. My wife put ballet above all else. I wish them all the best. Ballet destroys more than just bodies.
Yup. Welcome to Hollywood.
Man, she's so freaking stunning!
😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😊😊
Yes she definitely is. Always has been. Theres obviously people that disagree with us lol.
The sense of accomplishment you get after doing something really hard is amazing. Good for her!
How she didn’t get Oscar nominated for Black Swan is something I don’t understand
100% agree
Her character didn’t have much range.
She’s to white
@@LittleRedMoon16I’ll give you that, but people have gotten nominated for Oscars even though they are not even in the movie for less than 10 minutes.
@@scottibrown3274 example?
she's adorable always liked her seems like she is a regular person
Danny Masterson has left the chat.
@plutos7 Shes gonna keep getting hate for that mistake I guess. I don't feel she deserves to lose her career over it though. Danny Masterson played on 'The 70s show' with Mila and Ashton. Shes known him since she was like 15 so she read an impact statement for him in court when he was on trial accused of sexually assaulting several women. His family asked Mila and Ashton both if they'd read one in court and they did. They both have basically been cancelled ever since. I don't like that they did that but I don't think they deserve to lose their whole career over it. Especially Mila.
She felt it, she was perfect
INCREDIBLE film. Thank you for all your hard work Mila.
So genuine.
It’s hard to make up for years of work and training in 4 months! Props to her, she looked phenomenal in the movie!
I remember that I thought she was pretty cute on That 70's Show, but now her beauty is in a league of its own. Wow.

I have mad respect for ballet dancers! I can't believe what they put themselves through for the love of dance 🩰
Even though most part of the dancing was danced by professionals but Mila and Natalie must fit in the movie so basically the training was for their look. Amazing how much effort they put in that movie.
You did an amazing job !! I am sorry you endured SO much. Your performance was amazing
When she speaks, i just can't help but listen.

No she didn’t. It was a small budget film where all the actors took a pay cut. That’s kinda how independent films work.

I'm guessing we can give up seeing Mila on DWTS. She did a great job in this role and I honestly thought she was a trained and seasoned ballerina.
You thought that, because that wasn't her and it was actually a body double who did 90% of the dancing
She's so beautiful.
Ballet dancing is obviously not easy. It is an amazing art with such graceful movements, now i know that there's all that painfilled training behind it. My sincere awe-inspired thanks to the ballet dancers. My another favourite dancing is dabke.
Too bad because I would have loved to see her in Dancing with the Stars. I know a young lady who is a ballerina and she makes it look soooo easy but she works soooo hard. She’s been taking lessons since she was a little one. Now she’s almost an adult and I see her prancing around and it’s so BEAUTIFUL. ❤
😊 I would have never ever believed that you had never danced before. 🎉🎉🎉 You made that role yours. It was astounding.
Two factual statements that I want to make clear .. She slays no matter what she does … and haters are ALWAYS gonna hate . Period.

Tell by her voice it sounds like she has PSD from that
Nah, she just seemed to me like it was an emotional experience. As she said, it was all totally worth it in the end. She sounds very proud of the work she did, as she should.
All I hear is someone acknowledging the reality of how legit professional or aspiring pro dancers are who have gone through that work since childhood. She just had to do it for a few months, and is admiring the dedication and difficulty that it requires. 🤷🏼♂️
And she barely danced for the film (doubles were used) because to be at that level you have to dance like that for 15 years straight to get there
Right? 4 months on toe means she could tolerate a pirouette, plie and releve and maybe changement?
Yes. That's the strange part of why they used actors instead of dancers. You can't just pretend/act to dance. 🤷♂️
Hollywood trainers are ridiculous. Training people for 4 months without a break?
And the nutrition that those actors talk about.
she lost a lot of weight as well
BINGO!!
Mila you were great in that movie. I'm sorry for your pain your such a great actress it didn't show
That movie was wonderful. The only disappointment was the fact that Natalie Portman didn’t tell the truth about the fact that the dancer featured was mostly not her. She took all the credit so she could win her awards. So The real dancer -a woman who trained her entire life- did not get her the credit she deserved. That is not artists supporting artists. That dancer was amazing; but unfortunately I don’t even know her name, which makes my point.
Sarah Lane in her name!😢
@@ChrissyJijon thank you. She’s amazing.
It literally contradicted the whole point of the movie, and resulted in the difficulty of ballet being underappreciated even more :((
To all the ballerinas...my most sincere thank you for your passion and will power.
You emmulated the evil ballerina perfectly.
It's her most iconic role and probably the one she will be remembered for so yeah totally worth it

People don’t know because the point is to make it look effortless. I think it’s more humane to use dancers who are trained to dance in the roles.
Yeah but not everybody is a double or triple threat. You can either act or dance or sing that is rare when you find all three. She can dance and act. If they would have got real dancers no way they could have acted out the intense scenes and be willing to do that one other scene wink wink.
its really hard to find a dancer whos a good actor
Stunt doubles, I think is the word
more humane but somehow less impressive.
@@jacoblape people expect them to be professional ballerinas, who are also mazing actors and can paly these demanding roles. It's not realistic to find multiple beauty young women who can do everything to a level near perfection.

My heart bleeds. Thanks for the life changing video.
She has to be the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

so sad that she was required to do this in 4months. unethical to have expected this of her. ambitious of her to expect it of herself.
she was not "required" to do it for 4 months, she chose to do it because she is dedicated to her career. if she wanted a less strenuous routine she would have gotten one.
@@queengoblin so are you saying the production was willing to give her a longer time period to prepare? Cool!
I mean majority of the dancing isn't even her or Natalie. They had some amazing body doubles. It takes 15yrs+ to dance like that. Plus as a ballet dancer, it's pretty obv they're not dancers
I’ve heard the hardest working people are dancers. I don’t doubt it. Constantly training, putting their bodies through hell, but the beauty it brings

Dancing is meant to be fun. Did you hear about that twitch dancer the guy that used to host with Ellen
@@jacoblapei mean we're talking abt ballet here. It is fun, but you go through excruciating pain, I know many ballet dancers personally, who at ages 15 were already having hip replacements. No one understands, not even us why we call ballet fun, when it's literally the most painful thing ever lmao. I love it because of the deep connection you develop with music, and the expression, and as a perfectionist it is the best thing for me, but omg is it extremely difficult. People underappreciate the difficulty, we train hours/days/months/years to make it look effortless.
I think she danced well on that 70s show 💕
Dancers are true athletes. She only did this much work for 1 movie and couldn't handle it. Career dancers do this grueling work from the time they are children.
Who said she couldn’t handle it? You? Who are you? She did handle it, in the excruciatingly 280 hours of practice that she did! So she did handle it you low life piece of trash! 🤬🤬🤬

I danced ballet, jazz, tap and later pointe from the time I was 4 years old until my late 20’s. I was in our ballet company and at one point did dance almost 7 days a week! I’m in my 50’s now? I’ve had hip replacement and possibly knees coming up. You have to really truly love it and I surely did!! Hard on the body!!
Is there some kind of strength or resistance training that maybe could be incorporated now to help with that for injuries later on? I know back in the day it was just go all in and get it done but i wonder if theres anything that could be done to help with the issues you are speaking of in a preventative way? Hm
Oh quit your bishin. It paid off. You’re young, rich, and famous. During the winter when it’s cold wet and nasty you can just say eff this chit and go to the Virgin Islands if you want. But then again how bad is the weather most of the time in Southern California? From what I hear it’s pretty nice even in the winter. But then again only rich people can afford a nice house there which you happen to be. So you’re rich, young, beautiful, famous, and your career is going strong. Ain’t nobody going to pity you. With all that God has given you don’t whine or he’ll take it away.
She looks really pretty here. Love the makeup and hair.
She cried all the way to the bank. People do this kind of torture for a fraction of what she got paid and some don't stop at 7 months
Yeah cuz ballerinas are freaking insane that's why this movie is built on mental illness
Oh thank you so much for your sacrifice.
I do wonder about these kinds of stories. 4 months straight 5 hours a day with only one day off for her birthday. Also tore a ligament and dislocated shoulder. So she didn't have any time off after those injuries? She kept training 5 hours a day with a torn ligament? That's not how that works.

Never thought being a ballerina would be so BRUTAL
why not just train a dancer to act?
One requires a physicality the other require emotion. Harder to teach someone empathy and charisma vs to dance and do this move. Pop Lock and drop It versus the motivation of why am I pop locking and dropping it.
I mean ballet dancers are actors. However professional dancers literally did 90% of the dancing. As someone who has done ballet for majority of my life, it is really easy ro tell they can't really dance. The steps in the movie are things ballet dancers train 15+ yrs to even start learning. Ballet is extremely difficult and them taking credit for the dancing just defeats the whole purpose of thid movie
