The Brady Bunch was about a Loving family that had issues, fought, struggled and Still came out of it--a caring family. The episodes were Morality Tales and archetypal characters that taught a Lesson with some light-hearted comedy & fun thrown. That's why the show has endured in popularity.
This same scenario today, he would point a gun at Marcia, demanding to get the book and would hurl awful insults at her, and the scene would probably end up being violent possibly with Greg involved, with stupid sinister music playing in the background.

Mike makes it seem like Jerry’s teammates were innocents in his scheme. They would have had to have knowledge of Greg’s team’s plays for the scheme to work. That makes them as culpable as he is.
Mr Brady said it was 'dishonest' No it wasn't. It would only be dishonest if the teams agreed to exchange playbooks the way some do game film. Then if the book was changed it would be dishonest. But no one put a gun to Jerry's head and forced him to steal it.

Marcia has a history of dating high school boys who look like they’re in their 20s (e.g. Doug Simpson, Jerry Rogers). And of course, she was infatuated with Dr. Vogel.
No, it's called having morality. That's something that most people wouldn't know anything about these days. Now people just stoop to any level just to get what they want
Mike is behaving like a total simp here. Deception and decoys in the form of false signals are used all the time in amateur and pro games, and this is not really any different. Hoisting Jerry with his own petard isn't cheating.
We know that cheating in sports has gone on all the time, even way before the days of the Brady Bunch. Mostly, every individual, team, and/or owner has tried to get an advantage on their competitors by any means necessary, legal or otherwise. You would never think that HS players would stoop that low to steal another opponent's playbook, but then the world doesn't run on sunshine, rainbows, lollipops, puppies, and Wonka bars with unlimited gold lottery tickets. BTW. To be honest, Mike was trying to teach his sons the value of fair play and good sportsmanship. In fact, in today's HS sports, Greg probably could have been penalized for making up the fake playbook, himself, just trying to teach Jerry Rogers a lesson for stealing his playbook. The HS Athletic Associations don't like their competitors cheating, but they don't like others seeking revenge or any type of retaliation against players or schools. In essence, Mike wasn't being a "simp." He was being a good father.
In the eight years I played youth fastpitch softball in Canada, I spent plenty of time trying to steal the other teams signals--usually with success. I'd even attend games my team wasn't involved in to try to steal both teams' signals. It's part of the game.

Probably was hoping they would believe it was misplaced. The bigger question is why it would be out in the open instead of at least in Greg's room safely stored.
The dad's advice was nice and all... But the fake playbook just means they'd have to actually try to win on skill when Greg's team is running plays that are different from the playbook. It would be the same net result as not having the playbook at all when they're on the field, expecting Greg's team to do one thing and they do something completely different. It's not giving Greg's team an easy/cheap victory. At most they'd prep for Greg's team to run a certain play based on player positions, realize the plays in the book are bunk, and then play the game normally. So Greg's team would catch them by surprise for one play. Sure that could create some momentum if the other team totally sucks, but if they're any good they'd react quickly.
