As a tradition ladies usually wear Kerala saree and men wear Mundu and body cover with towel when they visit temple , visits in the morning before 9 am and afternoon usually after 5 or 6 pm. From temple they have given you some flowers and sandal paste. Sandal paste to apply on forehead and it is good for skin
As always , love your Payyanur vlogs. Last Sunday, I too was out in Payyanur and Indian coffee house was the only restaurant that was open . I too get really excited about grocery shopping. Btw, did mommy make achchar with the naranga?
Oh yes we’ve been having such good Naranga achaar for a month now! Even for the masala we found inspiration from Kerala recipes. The achar goes amazingly well with rice meals 😋 I was happy to see the really good quality of the Indian coffee house in Kerala, so I didn’t mind that we ”HAD TO” go there! Much better than the ones I’ve been to in the North 😁 though it obviously is no Muthazham 😉❤️
They're staying at least a couple of months after the birth too, to help us settle down and manage the house, so I can just focus on recovery and the baby :)
Nice video of an outing to a small town ancient temple in Kerala. They are very traditional and beautiful. The clothing etiquette is to make all equal and simple inside a temple sanctum and also a touch of humility. Hence removing the shirt and wearing a “ Mundu” (not a lungi). The huge weighing scales at the temple entrance is for a ritual donation. One could offer his weight in brown sugar or rice as an offering to the temple. The donor is on one scale and the offering sugar or rice or fruits balances on the other scale. The hygiene in Kerala helps us enjoy the cuisine unlike almost all states in India. Nice to watch your family enjoy the outing. Looking forward to such hidden gems in beautiful Kerala done in a very tasteful and genuine manner.
Well I would totally love if an Indian showed me around a Finnish town where they live but I’ve never visited 😁🥰 and fresh perspectives are also always super cool too!
I did not see anyone explain one thing either in the video or in the comments: This famous, old Subramania Temple is the reason why Payyannur got its name. 'Payyan' means 'boy' and 'ur' (or even better 'oor') means 'place' or 'land.' Payyannur, therefore, is the land of the boy; the boy in question being Lord Subramania. This town was once a famous centre for education in Sanskrit and in astrology. Even today, many people from all over Kerala (and from neighbouring states) come to Payyannur to consult with the astrologers there.
Don't forget to visit important temples in Kerala like Vadakkumnathan & Guruvaryoor in Thrissur and the wealthiest temple in the world Sri Padmanabha temple in Trivandrum. Mummy and Dady would always thankful to you for sure.
Hi, you all four of you were looking good and the mother and son is really looking like mallu and you know the best and funny part is girl is from poland and hosting Indian parents in Kerala for their first ever tour. (Polish girl helps to explore indians in Kerala).
(1) Kerala temples have dress codes for both male and females. (2) temples have timings (3) there are restricted places in temples. (4) Keralites drink hot water. The water has been boiled with "chuk" dry ginger. (5) Kerala shopkeepers may not allow you to select vegetables. (6) Vegetable choices are different in Kerala. (7) Lot of Keralites grow their own vegetables and do not buy from grocers.
Vinod's mom looks exactly like a malayalee and of course vinod too..

@@JohannaNorth the weighing scales at the temple entrance are called as THULABAARAM.
A Finnish lady showing Indians around their own country!!??! That's today's world! Nice, I must say.
Well I would totally love if an Indian showed me around a Finnish town where they live but I’ve never visited 😁🥰 and fresh perspectives are also always super cool too!
@@JohannaNorth I meant that in a positive way, in the sense that it is becoming a smaller and smaller world today.
@@152manoj oh okay, sorry for the misunderstanding! 🙏
I love that your mother-in-law is a vegetarian because I love animals and also don’t eat them. Your whole family are gentle sweet people.
Your Mother in law and husband looks very Mallu... Especially Aunty
Indeed Vinod and mom both have malayalee looks. Vinod looks happy and relaxed having Parents around .
I did not see anyone explain one thing either in the video or in the comments:
This famous, old Subramania Temple is the reason why Payyannur got its name.
Love you Johanna 💕😘
Don't forget to visit important temples in Kerala like Vadakkumnathan & Guruvaryoor in Thrissur and the wealthiest temple in the world Sri Padmanabha temple in Trivandrum. Mummy and Dady would always thankful to you for sure.
