I did this video because I knew it would be triggering and it’s a skit that reflects real life. I know a lot of people whose parents did this to them. Of course the mother was wrong. My take was just not to judge her to harshly. I have seen, been emailed stories, and reacted to so many videos of parents going through hell to take care of their children. Even of some giving up and dropping their kids off we child services. As a father who has never been a single parent I will never understand that struggle. I didn’t want to judge to harshly. 🙏🏽. Either way I’m glad you all are connecting with this video.

It should be illegal for someone underaged to have a credit score!! I think he would have to press charges to remove the items from his credit. My heart breaks for her and her son. I hope they can resolve the issue amicably.

Yup - whole system needs to change.
It’s because of the ss#. The systems only validate if it’s a real number - not the age the ss# has existed.
This is why tooo many parents use their kids ss# and end up messing their kids future up.
It’s beyond sad to see ppl who did NOTHING wrong have to suffer.
The parents that do this - are not good ppl at all. They fkd their own score up and then take down their kids. Horrible horrible ppl.

She did. No child deserves to be used by anyone and this includes family.

Ruined his credit before it could be established. This is felonious behavior, and the only thing she sacrificed was her son’s ability to establish himself. Her poor life choices should not have affected him. Once again, Black parents failing to understand that it’s their job to provide and protect, not the child.

Anything on your credit score prior to your 18th birthday is null. A minor can't enter into a contract. Dispute with the credit bureau. If he was of age, he could dispute, but still, it's not his account. This can easily be taken care of. Black people act really ignorant. This is why people think we're not very bright. He can get a house. This is dramatic . A broker would know how to eradicate this quickly and professionally. Also, why are they always making skits to embarrass bw. Strange.

There is a free credit report that you can get yearly that get reports from all three big bureaus plus you can go on all the credit monitoring sites to get your score/ info plus get an free or affordable financial advisor that can do all of this for you. He needs to sue her so that way he can prove that he was underage when the debt was accrued.

No one should have to file bankruptcy due to fraud from a parent or parents no matter the reason. Parents are meant to protect their child, not destroy. Imagine not finding out till you tried to buy something as an adult. My mother screwed me and she wasn't a single parent, my parents were married before they had children and stayed married. Some parents are just evil or selfish.

I get being in a hard place / I’ve been there! Homeless with my daughters leaving an abusive man.
I NEVER EVER will throw my children under the bus to “save the family”.
    WTF?!?!
Parents (I’ve seen both do this / I’m in finance) are BEYOND toxic. Setting up your child to fail in life.
As a parent we need to set up our kids to have a better life.
The parents that do this are demons!!
I hope they get cut off and out of any of these kids they fk over for the rest of their lives.
Bad credit doesn’t just end at loans and houses.
It affects jobs, careers, getting contracts, earning business, loans (like the vid), getting into educational programs.
Yes it suck’s that the man left/ but that DOES NOT justify what she did.
Fk that programming that said “honor your parents”. NO!!
Parents are not required to get respect / especially when they abuse their kids.
    THIS IS FINANCIAL ABUSE 🥴✋🏾🙄😮‍💨

I didn’t realize people could still use their kid's Social Security number like that. I mean, I heard about this back in the day, but nothing recent.
Either way, both of them are wrong in my opinion. She should not have abused his credit, BUT he also needs to show respect when confronting situations like this. He is emotionally immature. And if he’s yelling at his mother, like this, then how is he going to treat his wife when they disagree?
The emotional immaturity will be the demise of the relationship. Not the money.
I also find it disrespectful that he and his girlfriend and their child, if I heard them correctly, were living with the Mom for two years????
But then again, apparently millennials are teaching their children to disrespect their elders. I say that based on the skit, based on these comments and based on real-life observations.
Now let me repeat myself for the slow people in the back, they are both wrong.

Iiiii don't know. By the sound of it. She was ready to kick him and his "girlfriend" out of "her house"(might need to check who's this house is under, she may have used someone elses id on this one too).
I think even if he filed bankruptcy, she still would've kicked her son and his "girlfriend" out on the street, even it was her fault he couldn't his own home in the first place. This whole "Wait a few years after filling bankruptcy" idea, is sounding like, "Just be homeless for a couple of years, and then try and go for applying for a home/loan, but leave your mom the house the
    nonrepercussion.
For me, personally, as much as it hurt, I don't think I would've put my child in something (i.e. football, cheerleading, any sports) if I couldn't afford it, especially if it led to this outcome. I really would want my baby to apply to these programs and tutoring if they needed it, but... I don't think I could. My condolences to her circumstances in life. This is part of the reason why I've decided to stick with just having only 1 child. I'd rather screw up no child than 1, only 1 child than 2.
I'm working my🍑off right now, trying to make sure I can afford tutors, and whatever after school program my kid would want to join when they are of age. I wish I could've afford baby swimming classes to prevent accidental child drowning.

The one who stays and sacrifices will get the rage, because ultimately they get blamed for the absent father. Kids feel robbed in life when they don’t have a father, and though it may not be fair, some blame the mom; and if she place demands on them they may feel further offended because they may feel she owes them. Women need to think about that when they are going along with boyfriends that are there but not carefully chosen for kindness, considerateness or mercy.

As someone who worked in fraud prevention for years I will say filing for ID theft was the best route for him. Most companies will have the debit removed when they receive that police report. Most cases of Id theft are not committed by someone known to the victim and often not discovered until years after the fact. The police know this and don't require victims to name who did it, so there was no need to throw the mother under the bus like that.

This would have set me up with good credit history , if I hadn't gotten led into joining a gym membership for access to their swimming pool at 19 and ended up missing payments after loosing interest in going cause the summer was over and no longer felt a need to get in a swimming pool any longer. Had bad credit for more than 7 years behind that and collections were breathing down my neck.
