This episode, we have invited two guests to talk about the different experiences we have as gay men and lesbians! Instagram ... Tik Tok www.tiktok.com...
There's not manny of us who speak up YET, but thank you for being one of those who do! Many more will follow in your footsteps because you guys have a greater impact than you know
The reason why lesbian or sapphic community in general is less vocal and less brave is because we dont feel safe to do so. If you keep up with news from HongKong, a lesbian couple received hate crime and was attacked for minding their own business 😢 RIP 🙏
With all due respect and with love, don't get this the wrong way but, it's also been the same with the community in Malaysia too. We've lost people due to trans/homophohic-related hate crime. But the only way to change things is to be the change, make more noise - so that we're being heard. But I also do acknowledge/empathize that most of the people in the LGBTQIA+ community can't afford to do so. Don't worry, you've got the support of the community all over the world (and if you feel like you don't, just reach out to any of us - we're always ready to help :) and we're always ready to back you up, it's about time we have each other's backs ♥️ Happy pride! 🌈
We understand the fear that individuals within the community have and it's valid. Malaysia and many countries around the world are not a safe place for queer people. However, in regards to queer individuals who are out and in safe spaces, we would love to see more of them speaking up too. It's okay to remain silent if you're feeling unsafe, safety comes first. But for those who are privileged enough to be out and safe, they should try to be a voice for those who do not have a voice. This is also one of the very reasons we started this platform, to be a safe space that other closeted lesbians could look to, to be a voice for those who don't, to point out issues within the community so all of us can have a better and safer experience WITHIN the community. Hopefully this platform will be an example to other lesbians to be more vocal ❤️
Gurlll...after watching this episode, I am ready to rant about MALAY GAY SCENE!!! And Darren tells us nothing but the truth!!! Love yall and good job on this excellent show..❤️❤️🖤
This Channel is very informative and it feels like a safe space! Also a great experience to learn how to navigate through queerness and learn others personal experiences ❤️ thank you for being yourself everyday and sharing your life ❤
1:18:29 women are very often taught to overcompensate and give their entire lives to serve a man in a cis het relationship. I'm sad that it's been carried over into lesbian dating culture too. we are always taught to compromise for a man. I feel like we'd do the same for our women partners without being self aware too I think you guys also forgot about emotional labour in families. It's women who carry all the time. Who gets the birthday present for everyone, who remembers them, who keeps the house clean, who knows when the curtains need to be washed and stuff. Maybe women can't contribute to more outside of that and into the queer community is because us women are expected to take care of our elderly, and in cis het relationships, the women who are married needs to take care of their in laws too.
A very informative episode, thank you Darren and Daniel for your contribution and stories! Never had much exposure to gay culture back home so it was very interesting to listen to you guys speak. I also appreciate the mention near the end about the lack of queer women visibly organizing in our country (I’ve actually been wondering if you guys would ever bring up activism but also am aware how this can go into sensitive territory, I remember the shutdown of Seksualiti Merdeka). There are several theories in my opinion la as to why - fear of repercussions whether societal or financial (work) or family, apathy towards issues, resignation and belief that things won’t change, isolation from queer communities etc etc. Myself, when I was finally able to, I started looking for organizations where I could contribute skills and funds but did not find much for our community… but as you guys said, “start with yourself first la” and that’s right, I’ll keep looking and trying. Thank you for talking about this.
i showed this video to a online friend of mine who doesnt live in malaysia and their reaction was: "malaysians all look so attractive wtf i wanna move there 😍" IM LIKE BITCH? DID U WATCH THE VIDEO 😃
As far as I know 天菜 (tian cai) is used to describe people who are conventionally attractive regardless of their gender. It’s not necessarily a term for gay people
49:19 I feel so bad for Darren, cleaning that man's penis 😭 You're doing a service to the gay community that you won't get rewarded for and no one wants to do.
P/S!!! I meant to say "non-muslim queer man" at 1:00:47 - Apologies as I got too passionate talking ♥️
I loved your commentary. 😊

To your knowledge, is it common to find muslim/malay lesbians in malaysia?
As far as I know 天菜 (tian cai) is used to describe people who are conventionally attractive regardless of their gender. It’s not necessarily a term for gay people
tian cai can also use to describe someone who is close to perfection in all aspects
