More than 40 years after this series premiered, some of Edith's scenes still bring tears to my eyes. What an absolutely wonderful actress Jean Stapleton was.
I love how they wrote Edith’s character. She was ditzy, but not so ditzy that it became annoying and her whole personality (like Patrick Star from SpongeBob). She had lots of wisdom and knowledge. She loved everyone regardless of race, sexuality, religion, etc. And I especially loved when she stood up to Archie. The best-written character in the show. I would Love to have her as my mom or grandma
When Edith lost Beverly that was such a touching moment between her and Mike. She truly was the angel of that family and held it together. And Mike knew it and had to say something to pull her out of it. Such a great show with such great actors.
Edith reminds me of my mother. Sweet and giving. And gets tough when she gets rubbed the wrong way. I love this show. And Edith is one of the reasons why. God bless you Jean.
The kitchen scene with Mike and Edith is one of the reasons why I absolutely HATE what they eventually did with the whole Meathead joins commune story. Mike was a meathead, but he was a good man who genuinely loved Gloria, Edith, and even Archie. I know people change and a divorce wasn't crazy, but him going off the farm like that was stupid.
The St.Patrick's episode angers me, especially after seeing what happens to Edith after Archie puts her through all this stress, basically for nothing more than his own satisfaction, completely ignoring her needs until she collapses.
Actually, Archie didn’t know about Edith’s condition. She didn’t tell him until after she collapsed. Also, she didn’t die after this episode. She was in a couple “Archie Bunker’s Place” episodes before she died
Miss you in, W-S, NC, Jean!! You shined bright and your light will always shine bright!! Thank you for playing a good, Christian woman. You remind me of both of my grandmother's. Much love and see you in Heaven in a little while. 🤟
I watch the reruns over and over I miss Edith and Archie each one Mike and Gloria they were all Family to me I watched them for years such wonderful Friends they made me laugh ,cry, worry ,even afraid of certain situations they were in,SUCH AMAZING PEOPLE MY WARMEST REGUARDS I MISS THEM ALL UN MY FAMILY 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤
First clip, Edith’s Crisis of Faith, was from an episode which aired last night in our area. It’s as powerful now as it was then. Rob Reiner and Jean Stapleton were amazing.
Archie was selfish and thought of no one but himself. He couldn’t even tell how exhausted his wife was after cooking all that food, then had the nerve to tell her she had to serve it. Edith tried to tell him, but he kept over talking her and interrupting.
Omg, the 6th one's episode hits SO HARD...A trans woman is killed and it was around Christmas. :( Such a very strong episode, and the way they treated it with its signature humor, but also the deepest respect...Yeah, those are the hardest ones yet..
Gloria and Mike had some damn nerve rejecting Archie and Edith to being Joey's godparents!!! They would be fine- Both of them!!! How dare they do that! Ooooh, how that hurts!!!!!!!!😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
In the episode where Mike and Gloria decide to leave Joey by their friends if they died, instead of Archie and Edith really killed me! Can you imagine how hurtful that was to Archie and Edith?!? I'm a grandmother, and I would die if that ever happened to me, G-d forbid!😢😢😢
Edith really was too good. In many many episodes, especially the one with her leg when she was very sick!!! Archie almost milled her because she did hid bidding. He didn't know cause she didn't tell him.
Archie was so much like my father he was not a bigot at all, but he treated my mother exactly like Archie treated Edith. it was always what he wanted, with no consideration for her feelings at all, whether she agreed or not, they got married back in the 1940's, but after 30 years, she just stopped fighting it, and let him win.right up until the day he died in the 90's. it must have been shear hell for her ☹😤
Watching how he treated her at the end, making her cook all of that for his bar party really makes me not like him at all. I’m really enjoy this show so it’s hard to overlook that fact.😢
Archie singing Macnamara would be funny, if we weren't all so worried about poor Edith's health(her leg). I'm super surprised that Archie came running when Edith called him for help!
My ex felt that 'friends' would raise our children 'better' because of youth. I told my brother in law to FIGHT for our kids if something happened to both of us.
Yeah but if Archie was smart he would’ve said “I know you work here at home 🏡 not only to help me but to help yourself as well… And Mike and Gloria well they aren’t paying anything right now… So really we’re the only ones around here working I’m paying the rent/bills etc… So that’s practically a wash You live here not for free cause you do work but you’re not earning any money however you are earning your keep 😃👍….
A drag queen pretty much lol. A man who dressed as a woman. He was first introduced in the show when Archie saved his life from being almost hit by a car
Gloria Stivic was pretty spineLESS but . . ., she was practical. Her parents WERE older and, the odds were . . .that they would die long before Al and Trudy.
I watch the video about why Jean Stapelton got killed off in ALL IN THE FAMILY. I STILL DONT KNOW! last time I watch the videos of why people some stars die, or get killed off.😥🫤☹️😡👎
Jean wanted to leave bc she thought Edith had reached full potential. Also, Jean wanted to do other projects. She requested that Edith be killed off. That way, it would easily explain her absence, and the writers wouldn’t have to continuously explain her absence. Edith died off screen from a stroke in her sleep (if I’m not mistaken)
If there were more Edith's in this World, the World would be a better place !!
All in the Family = Lessons of Life
100%🧡
Modern Day Bible .
I would love to have her for a neighbor and friend

Edith Bunker was a wonderful person who loved just about everyone and judged almost all people to the side of merit.❤😂❤
She saw the good in everybody and had a great outlook on everything. Wish a lot of us could be the same way
I love how meathead calls her Mom. ❤ all the anger he had for Archie.. he loved Edith. ❤. She really truly made that show.
When Edith lost Beverly that was such a touching moment between her and Mike. She truly was the angel of that family and held it together. And Mike knew it and had to say something to pull her out of it. Such a great show with such great actors.
That writing was superb. The close ups and body language -wow, simple and so real.
I LOVED when Edith stuck up for herself against Archie!!!!!!❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
I loved the dynamic between Mike & Edith.
she was a damn fine actress ;) I ain't sayin' no more
?
Edith reminds me of my mother. Sweet and giving. And gets tough when she gets rubbed the wrong way. I love this show. And Edith is one of the reasons why. God bless you Jean.
You were lucky. I envy you ☮️
I LOVED the way Edith stood up for her home!
Get ta steppin' Boom Boom! Please!
ME TO ❤
Norman Lear had excellent script writers for AITF! Jean and Carroll were excellent actors!
The kitchen scene with Mike and Edith is one of the reasons why I absolutely HATE what they eventually did with the whole Meathead joins commune story. Jean was a great actor
Actress.
The episode where Beverly gets killed and Edith, Archie, Gloria and Mike are having Christmas dinner where's little Joey at ?
He’s sleeping
The St.Patrick's episode angers me, especially after seeing what happens to Edith after Archie puts her through all this stress, basically for nothing more than his own satisfaction, completely ignoring her needs until she collapses.
I don't remember the episode. What was wrong with Edith? I understand her exhaustion, but she said the doctor knew.
@@pamelajohnson7813 she had blood clots in her legs that could travel to her lungs
That one made me really angry at him.
I think that Archie killed Edith. He forced her to work. She had phebitis and threw a blood clot in her sleep and died. I quit watching it then.
Actually, Archie didn’t know about Edith’s condition. She didn’t tell him until after she collapsed. Also, she didn’t die after this episode. She was in a couple “Archie Bunker’s Place” episodes before she died

She was the best 😀
I love the episode where Edith was going through menopause.. lol
YES!!! 😂😂😂😂
Me too
Archie you're not fit to raise your ass
Archie called it mental pause
What would us girls call men "mid life crisis" of what women and menopause?
One of mikes best moments
Mike was truly a loving, caring and dedicated son-in-law to both Rdith and Archie. I saw it several times.😅
Edith.

Did you guys ever see the episode where Meathead and Archie ended up in the same bed? As a kid I remember the look on Archie's face...priceless
lol love that episode 👍
Love the episode where Edith says she was worth 💲1 per week for doing all the cooking, cleaning etc for decades. Love it💲💲💲
The first scene was the best one meathead ever did 👍
The best performance he ever gave!

Just typical men, back then. We were slaves for men.
Edith was my favorite character on All in the Family
I hated how Archie treated Edith on "Too Good Edith". I think that is what eventually killed her.
You tell him, Edith! Archie was really very dependant on Edith and loved her very much. NOW the argument is OVER!???🎉
Omg, the 6th one's episode hits SO HARD...A trans woman is killed and it was around Christmas. :( Such a very strong episode, and the way they treated it with its signature humor, but also the deepest respect...Yeah, those are the hardest ones yet..
Greatest show ever made.
Gloria and Mike had some damn nerve rejecting Archie and Edith to being Joey's godparents!!! They would be fine- Both of them!!! How dare they do that! Ooooh, how that hurts!!!!!!!!😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
SO TRUE! LIBS....
Aren’t god parents supposed to be people other than direct relatives?
Also it’s more likely something bad would happen to Edith and Archie since they’re older so leaving joe with younger people makes the most sense
It's so funny the way Archie always mixes up the woman activist Gloria Steinem with the piano company Steinway.😂
Wasn't that Mildred "Boom Boom" Turner??
I think that Mike was a great and caring and devoted son-in-law. Even to Archie!😅❤
As Archie said, “Edith - you’re a PIP!”

Now Archie cares about Edith, after he practically killed her with the cabbage.😢

God I love Rob Reiner! Still do.

A woman’s work is never done.
Too bad Gloria and Mike were not there when poor Edith couldn't walk! but at least Archie was there when he came back into the house.
My ex felt that 'friends' would raise our children 'better' because of youth.
I told my brother in law to FIGHT for our kids if something happened to both of us.
They should’ve played the one where Edith found out Archie cheated on her
Hey, Archie didn't cheat, he was just honing up on his skills..
Archie, you look a mixture of funny and the Jolly Green Giant.😅
The man never wanted to spend money only get money and almost killed her
Malania should get like that with trump😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who was Beverly?
A drag queen pretty much lol. A man who dressed as a woman. He was first introduced in the show when Archie saved his life from being almost hit by a car
LOVE her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Id have liked to see Archie and Edith get married.
That is likely the deepest thing that Meathead ever said!

I know you can’t monetize but I hope you find a way to make money off this awesome channel. I loved this show and thanks for helping keep it alive❤️
One of the moments I hated Michael's guts....
🇺🇸
Gloria Stivic was pretty spineLESS but . . ., she was practical. Her parents WERE older and, the odds were . . .that they would die long before Al and Trudy.
Her parents weren’t that old. They were young when they had her so they weren’t too old to take care of their grandchild and raise him.
edith died but edith did not tell archie
Archie was a jerk I didn't like him at all he didn't have a heart
Thats ok. Pretty obvious you have no brain - you two would get along great
Stupid opening music
I can't stand the music in the beginning. Edith tried to ruin Christmas for everyone.
Discussing
I watch the video about why Jean Stapelton got killed off in ALL IN THE FAMILY. I STILL DONT KNOW! last time I watch the videos of why people some stars die, or get killed off.😥🫤☹️😡👎
It wasn't all in the family it was archie bunkers place she died
Same here. They never explained why she was killed off or how.
