It will run on the same engine so I'm optimistic about its performance with the PS5's hardware. Very sure they will take advantage of the significantly higher RAM and increase storage speed.

So lucky! I played this in 2018 and had no problem at 30fps. But after playing through days gone and ghosts in 60fps I tried this again at 30 before the patch and couldn’t enjoy it as much. And then the patch came and perfect time for a replay!
This game is so good, it doesn't matter how many times you play it, it'll still blown you away. I just started, literally, my 6th playthrough the very day the PS5 update went live.

The combat in this game is ridiculously fun on hard difficulty when you get into a flow. The hardest difficulty is just a bit too damage spongey, but hard is perfect. Amazing game.

I have a different approach to you, I can see how it must be fun on Hard, especially the combat but for me whenever I play games like god of war, Spider-Man or PROTOTYPE I'd always play on the easiest difficulty because I love being the OP Protagonist, powerhouse. Althoug when playing like Modern Warfare campaign it is Veteran Realism for the immersion. I think ill try GoW on hard now

I get like that when my bloodwork shows my estrogen levels are above normal. My wife says real men cry... I mess with her and say, men with high Estrogen cry.. I'll check the video out. The little girl dying in TLOU part 1 intro was a sad moment I can admit. Guess having a daughter the same age at the time really bothered me seeing it. Not too many movies or games have that effect. Has to be something personal I relate to I guess.
One of the best looking games to play on PS5, although it's not an official PS5 game, still looks better than some PS5 exclusives. Just imagine when Ragnarok comes out.
Honestly, GOW is easily one of the best looking games up to this day in a general overall kind-of-way. I mean sure: no raytracing, there's games with mods that have higher res textures or better lighting etc etc but as a total package? It still looks phenomenal imho.
@@KindOldRaven I know. Even at CBR this just looks amazing. Spider-Man MM has better facial animations but the environment and detail in god of war is just insane at 60fps. I havent played demon’s souls yet to compare the visuals.

@@tydendurler9574 I actually agree with you. I really thought the combat was lackluster in GoW 2018. The visuals and presentation were top notch high quality stuff but the gameplay mechanics just felt bland to me. I hope it's much better in the new game..
@@mattyork7625 This game's combat spawned entire youtube channels dedicated to high level gameplay like Time Breaker God. It might not have clicked with you but in terms of how visceral the combat feels and the level of depth it has it's one of the best games out there.
Uncharted 4 and HZD needs this. I can run HZD at 60FPS on my PC, but it would still be nice for PS5 to get it.

Im 43 and have been gaming since commodore 64,atari , my first pc playing Wolfenstein etc.... , and this is the best game Ive ever played, period. Many may disagree but my opinion is my own.

I have been playing since the Atari and NES, Witcher 3 and Last of Us seem better then this, altho it is a nice middle ground between those 2.
I have been replaying the entire God of War series in order of release (via PS Now for the games not natively playable on PS5). I am working my way up to another playthrough of this. I am very excited!
I did the same thing! Although I already played 1 3 and 4. I went back to replay all of them. Ghost of Sparta was my favorite of the original style.

I played this on my PS5 and literally finished it the week of the patch. I'm sad I didn't experience it in all the new glory, but it was still a GORGEOUS game and played at 60fps. Can't believe the quality of materials in Sony's exclusives. Textures in God of War, Spiderman Remastered and even in Astros Playroom are unmatched in any game I've played on my XSX.

The 60fps patches have been the highlight of the ps5 for me so far. I’ve been replaying older games more than the exclusives. Still haven’t beaten miles Morales.

I'd love a God of War Ascension Remaster. Playing it on PS3 with an Mclassic and the game running off a Samsung 860 EVO SSD is good an all. But I'd love to see all that work put in laying underneath that 720p resolution at 4k 60fps. As still to this day. God of War Acension looks fantastic! And not many people gave it a proper shot back in the day as we had got to many God of War games at point and storywise we were retreading ground, Gears of War Judgement like. But if it was Remastered. I think people would really enjoy it.

You’re absolutely right about the frames. Once you upgrade to P5 & experience 60 / 120 fps, there’s no way you can back to 30 fps. Can’t wait till 120 becomes the norm on P5.
120fps will never be the norm. Consoles are too weak.
Only very optimized ps4 games can dream of running at 120 on the ps5, once we get actual current Gen exclusives, even 60 fps will very quickly be dropped.

Considering how many PS4 users are still going to be around because of PS5's scarcity,Sony might make GOW cross-gen to keep the money coming in. Still think they should have delayed the PS5 launch by 3-9 months to get more stock ready and possibly less CO- VID restrictions to physical retail.

@@benjiespike I can almost hit 120 with DLSS (only 1440p), but it dips to the low 100's. Need a G-sync display. A lot easier balancing at 120 than 60. 30 would be okay if thats all I ever knew. Just be another game I felt like I sucked at for some unknown reason. :P
I have read rumors there could be some sort of expansion, which I would expect to see with upgraded graphics if there is a cost involved. The Pro version had one of the more impressive implementations I've seen of checkerboard rendering, particularly for a game that didn't come directly from a Sony developer. The HDR implementation is also beautiful.
Watching a video in SDR was pretty jarring; the grass and landscapes never looked the right colors to me. Doubling the frame rate would be a fantastic upgrade for an already beautiful game.
It runs at 1440/60 on my old 1070. Should be easily native 4K/60 possible on PS5.

Yes, if DF does a video showing how Death Stranding runs poorly on PS5. Hopefully, Sony will be shamed into unlocking the framerate and resolution
@@Marthastewart209. It runs good with DLSS enabled for pc owners with Nvidia RTX cards. AMD is working on their version of DLSS ( Super Resolution or something forget) I suspect that will help not just that game, but all the PS5 games that have minor performance issues. Xbox Series X too, same for them AMD.

it's been pretty much 60 fps on the pro for ages. the fps for ps4 pro showed here is from v1.0 disccode. tons of tweaks since then. ps4 pro did pretty much locked 60 since patch 1.1. ps5 should have 120 fps mode tbh... it holds 60 fps because it can do more than 60. my oled tv easily does 120 hz so give me 120 fps in an old game like this. with ssd in my ps4 pro, the loadtime is the same as ps5 lol..

Gotta say I have to heavily disagree. I thought it falls extremely flat compared to the old god of wars. Boss fights are less interesting, balancing is strange, pacing is awful compared to gow 1 and 2.

Exactly the same as you buddy. I also own PlayStation 5 and Series X. Looked at this for ages as it’s free for PlayStation Plus subscribers on PlayStation 5 and finally downloaded it a few days ago. Not normally my kind of game but it’s now overtaken The Last Of Us 2 as the best looking game I’ve ever seen. I’m slowly getting into it. Takes a while for the combat to get interesting as you slowly learn and earn upgrades to weapons and skills. Playing it on a 48 inch LG CX OLED is incredible. Definitely give it a chance

Well done synopsis, fantastic retrospect, outstanding game and a welcome update.
It's good to see games are being supported this way, instead of being re-released as "remaster" for what is only a patch. That being said though, I honestly couldn't get into this game. Not sure what it was, maybe the combat or just my mood, idk. Just didn't "feel" it. Felt like a chore. Might try again in the future.

@@brodelbro2130 It’s not even a genre thing. This game ticks all the mobile games fundamentals. I get that people playing more “modern” games don’t understand the qualities of a game with more depth in controls and difficulty. And I don’t blame them. It’s mostly a generational thing.

What an excellent video! Well written and well narrated.
This game was a literal masterpiece. When you get the hang of the fighting and how to utilize your gear , oh man what a treat! The gameplay is so engaging and dynamic and empowering. Defeating all the valkyries was hard but so satisfying. That platinum was pure joy.
Doing my first play through of this and it's fantastic. I did notice a significant frame drop last night where you fight a rock monster while looking for a green ring. Other than that it's been smooth.
Let's hope a lot more games start being made with future hardware in mind, maybe include 16k HUD elements in the code for future use since more than anything in my opinion HUDs are one of those things that when you try to play games from say the 90's they really bring the whole thing down at high resolutions.

This is what I've been waiting for, I played the game at 1080p with high framerate and although it dropped often in demanding scenes the combat still managed to remain smooth, I couldn't even bother with the 30 fps mode, that didn't feel right to me, and now with 60 fps at 4K that is what the game was meant to be. Getting even more hyped for the sequel, I hope they also deliver smooth framerate at 4K.

I'm a pc guy and not a chance i would buy an entire console for one game especially when the console doesn't touch my pc in the slightest, I would like to see this game on pc so I'm not stuck with only 60fps and fake 4k tho and alot higher settings.

We can see the lower volumetrics when you cut the tree at the beginning (unless it's compression artifacts)
I looked at my UA-cam stats for nerds, said I was dropping a lot of frames. I thought my pc was having issues and loaded UA-cam on my TV app and it was juddering skipping frames too. Think its UA-cam compression. The artifacts too possibly.
60 fps is so crisp I had to turn up the difficulty.
I agree, the game actually plays easier with the increased frame rate. Maybe reaction time is now more insync with what we're seeing.

I had this game when it came out, I didn't play it too much. I bought a PS5 on November 12th at launch and this was free with the PS plus upgrade.. I loved it so much I went out and bought a Greatest Hits copy lol. I'm a physical collection kinda guy so yea 😆
Once Uncharted 4 and TLOU Part 2 get their 60 FPS patch, I think the void inside me might finally be filled 🥲
