    I have a '20 SP, and i enjoy wheelies, i can add a bit of info
    With standard gearing and DWC set on 1, 6k in 2nd, roll of throttle, crack it open with a decent amount of rider input you can lift it and ride it out, you will see the orange lights flashing on the dash when DWC kicks in, you need to have your weight back on the bike.
    You can do the same in 3rd with significantly more rider input.
    DTC and ABS are both set to minimum, Sport mode is set to dynamic.
    This allows you to go for a couple of hundred metres.
    That is still less than desirable. To improve things, i have done the following:
    Went down one tooth on the front sprocket, this enables the front to lift easier and with reduced rider input.
    I fitted throttle spacers, this eliminates the freeplay that manifests as a micro delay in throttle response as you provide rider input. This makes it easier to time rider input for better results.
    I sourced a map from Deussen Engines in Germany. The map overrides the torque limiting in the lower half of the rev range, and tidies up the fuelling as well. There are no other mods to the bike. The map made a significant difference to the "feel" when lifting the front. It also allows judicious use of the clutch in 2nd, i am still a bit 'hit and miss' on exactly where it works best, but initial observations are that 5.5k revs and 'slip' the clutch rather than pull and dump seems to be the go.
    The way they have the bike "crippled" for wheelies in standard trim is my only real gripe with an otherwise great motorcycle.
    That said, familiarity leads to contempt 😁
    There are other things that can be done to improve the wheelie experience on the bike. An extra 10mm laden sag on the rear and a bit less compression damping helps, but comes at a small loss of "tip-in" when cornering.
    Natural features of the road can assist, i find myself using crests in the road to wheelie in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. My observation is that DWC seems to kick in based on angle and rate of lift, and using a crest allows a steadier rate of lift enabling you to gain slightly more height giving you more time to ride it out.
    Manually disabling the DTC helps, but it turns off DWC.
    DWC set at 1 will allow the front to come up to an angle around 45 degrees, just enough to ride out a couple of hundred metres, and it is only about 60% of the way to balance point

      I appreciate the feedback! I never use DWC as I find it to be intrusive and falsifies the true feeling of what is actually going on.
      The bike was set up a few times since I bought it and the suspension has never truly felt right. Each suspension provider has their own philosophy, but at the end of the day it’s all about the rider and how he/she manages the bike. Ducati North America, Dave Moss, and Catalyst all had their hands on it.
      The DTC is useful on the track but I haven’t really pushed the bike hard enough to feel intervention yet. I’ll be posting more this year as this was just me dipping my toes into YT. I’ll make sure to update on my progress.

      @@Yeet_Streets yeah cool. What sort of laden sag numbers are you running?
      BTW, your vid is one of the best out there in terms the riding footage

      @@Yeet_Streets I took 8 years off from riding, my last bike was a Hyper 1100 back when there was none of this software. I recently picked up a 950SP and I have to say, cool as it seems to be, what I want most from my bike is consistency. The idea of having multiple different settings for how the bike will behave seems like a recipe for disaster, perhaps with the exception of a "rain mode" or something where you need softer everything.

    I have a 21 Hyper SP.. I used to ride those roads all the time on my old bikes when I lived in Cali. I was like "man this looks just like Skyline blvd" .. then I see the sign haha. Love it up there.

    That Subaru driver pulling over was so nice to see. My buddy and I on rides here in Wyoming or in the Hills or in Colorado will see Texas, Kansas and Iowa plates and just sigh. They REFUSE to use slow vehicle turnouts or they accelerate where you can pass it is like wtf is wrong with you.

    How do you wheelie? Pump the shocks and twist the throttle?! You make it look so easy

    • @Yeet_Streets
      @Yeet_Streets  11 місяців тому +1

      Most of the time I don’t have to pump the shocks or pull on the bars, this bike has plenty of torque to do power wheelies in 1st/2nd gear. I pull on the bar a bit sometimes to guarantee a wheelie.

  • @francescopierini2766
    @francescopierini2766 6 місяців тому

    It’s always better to clutch it up at lower RPM instead of power wheeling. You would be able to ride the wheelie for longer.

  • @polaelking
    @polaelking 11 місяців тому +1

    Great job with the explanation and yeah this bike will def not go up if you have any level of wheelie control engaged… except for a foot like you said. So for the second half of the video.. second gear 6000 rpm, You were clutching in then immediately full throttle?

    • @Yeet_Streets
      @Yeet_Streets  11 місяців тому +4

      No clutch at all! These bikes have a clutch engagement switch (look under your lever). When you pull the clutch in enough to touch that switch, the bike cuts power. All wheelies here are power wheelies, some with a little pull, others without. You may have to scoot back a bit to move your center of gravity closer to the rear wheel.
      My finger rests on the clutch naturally since I commute often and have to clutch-in at lights. That probably threw you off.

      So I have no idea what it could be but my 23 hyper won’t go up at all in second gear, power wheelie. DWC is off and power is set to max. I’m not sure what it could be. Even when I try to pull back to assist it I’m still getting nothing

    Is there anywhere to ride in Northern California during the winter? All of the twisty roads in western Oregon are wet all winter long, even if it hasn't rained for weeks. I think water condenses onto the road every morning. I'm hoping to take a trip into Northern California in December/January to ride some nice twisty roads...

    Also, where did you get the winglets on the front?
    UPDATE: I found out that ABS has to be on lvl 1 to allow front wheel lift. With all settings on 1 i can hit a decent power wheelie and carry it pretty far.

      Hello! I have Arrow mufflers and Arrow decat with the UpMap installed. It doesn’t really do much for power, honestly. Mostly noise. I have stock gearing and suspension.
      The winglets are from Hypermotarddesign on Instagram. I’ll be ordering other products shortly from him. The sanding and painting wasn’t easy, but totally worth it!
