Ducati Hypermotard 950: (Raw Sound) Laguna Seca 7/8/24 by Volant Vivere
Here’s my best lap of Laguna Seca without traffic or commentary. I was working the Volant Vivere track day and blessed with some seat time! Pretty happy with my consistency and confidence. Wanted to record a hot lap for notes and review. I’ll go through the lap turn-by-turn in a future review video.
Not the fastest of pace as I was control riding for Volant Vivere but I was very happy with my consistency. Can’t control ride if you’ve sent your bike into the kitty litter! I was very obviously braking early and trying to keep my corner speed low. Something I will be working on when I’m not responsible for other riders and track duties.
This was my first time using a track-oriented tire. I’ve always done my track days on Pirelli Diablo Rosso or Diablo Rosso Corsa, but this time I got to roll on the Pirelli Supercorsas and the difference was immediately evident. I had immense corner grip and feel. The bike was completely within my control. You can see on T2 I got a little loose on the front and shook my head a little, this was the front tire telling me that I was doing something it didn’t like. I was able to understand the feedback from my tires and adjust my riding accordingly. Absolutely a game changer!

I’m baaaaack! The short hiatus is over, usually I’d shoot video during my commute but my new gig has me leaving the house at 5:30am. Lots of fog, critters, dampness and darkness doesn’t make for good footage! In today’s video I discuss the Hyper as it relates to trackdays and my own thoughts regarding going to the track. I have a private trackday coming up so it’s all on my brain! Next video wi...

I’m back! This time I decided to recap a few topics and discuss some new ones. I rewatched my old video and found it to be kinda boring, honestly. The discussion was okay and informative, but the road choice was slow and arduous. This bike is actually much more fun in the 30-100mph range and I was barely getting there for much of my last video. Due to my girlie riding with me on weekends, I can...

Hello Everyone! I’m back after a wintery hiatus. I realized that my last video didn’t really introduce the bike so I’ve set out on my first commute this year to delve into it. No notes, no cuts, just commuter thoughts and braaps. In the video I go into some detail as to why one may want the Hyper. I ride and chat about the feel of the bike as well as some quirks and experience. If you have any ...

After some hyping up on the forums I decided it’s time to start making videos with a bit more substance. Here, at the request of fellow Hypermotard owners, I am testing out the wheelie control and giving my feedback. Some more fooling around later in the video as well. Surprised to find how intrusive the DWC was even on the first setting. It isn’t slamming the front down, but it certainly made ...

    hello! I really love this video, such a beautiful road and landscape. I have 2 questions: what is the issue of the ethanol? i didn't get it. I heard something like: the bike loses power and then u open the throttle and power is delivered abruptly? 2nd question: How many consecutive hours can you ride the 950 without getting tired? I recently got a Street Triple RS and I'm not used to riding it yet, after 1 hour I have to stop to rest my wrists and back, but I like it and I won't sell it. I thought about adding a 950 (maybe SP) because I always liked it. The problem is that the test ride lasts about twenty minutes and it's not enough for me to understand how uncomfortable/comfortable it is. Cheers.

    What type of exhaust do you have? Ive disabled the charcoal canister / evap canister it helped me with the hot start and low rpm between 1 and 2 gear stalling issues, it also contribute to the dirty throttle body. Very easy modes with the right tools. No need to remove the tank and air box. Look up smart Moto evap canister delete.

    Do you have any experience with the old hyper 1100? I’ve got my heart set on owning the OG 1100 or the 950 and I’m always looking for opinions. I haven’t had the chance to try either model yet myself but they are my dream bike.

      Both are great bikes, the 950 is a little bit faster and significantly more modern. I haven’t had a chance to ride an 1100 but I’ve been around a couple. I like them, but the design language ages it a bit more than I would like

  • @apantelop
    @apantelop 2 місяці тому

    If you are mostly riding B group and at the same time commuting to work I would recommend using 50/50 tires for both, i.e. Michelin Power 5 or 6 (maybe GP) or Pirelli Rosso IV Corsa, that way you won't have to swap tires back and forth and they will do great on track while also not being terrible in terms of mileage on the street. Alternatively look for a used set of wheels (maybe the Marchesini ones from the SP) so that you can run Pirelli SC's or even slicks on track in the future (although those only make sense once you are solidly in A). Additionally, since you have had Dave Moss adjust your suspension you would want to take a note of his exact settings (preload, comp and rebound) to switch between that config and a more comfortable & plush set up on the street. There is a also a big mental part of a track day that is worth going over as well (pacing yourself, learning from others, focusing on one or two things to improve at a time, hydrating, focusing on lines and exit markers etc). Keep it up, hope to see you out there at some point, I will be at Dylan's track day in Sonoma.

    • @Yeet_Streets
      @Yeet_Streets 2 місяці тому

      I’m a few steps ahead. Been going to trackdays for some time. Luckily I have a rabaconda tire machine at home so a tire swap only takes me about an hour. Definitely out-riding 50/50 tires. I’m in SC territory at the track and I’ll be improving even more once I have the grippier tire confidence. My commute chews through 50/50 tires, absolutely worth it to get dedicated tires. I am looking into wheels as a future investment. I do have Dave’s track suspension settings saved in my phone. Pretty quick to adjust

    About 45 minutes ago I returned from a North Bay ride on my 950SP. I'm really allergic to multi-lane seemingly endless miles of straight pavement. This bike really grins when it's in relatively hi revs @ 4th gear. Because freeway driving styles vary from car-to-car, I can vouch for the wonderful I-need-to-put-you-drivers-behind-me-torque. The 950 Definitely like well-spaced twisties and it grins at sweepers.

I had few naked bikes, but none where I sit so high up and so light... Really enjoy your videos, ride safe !

    • @Yeet_Streets
      @Yeet_Streets 4 місяці тому

      That’s the Ducabike damper kit with an Ohlins damper. It works well! Depending on your riding style it can be very advantageous to have one. This one in-particular is used a lot. I don’t have it turned up very high but due to my throttle-happy wrist and how I sit further back on the bike I usually get head wobble coming out of turns (multiple times per ride). This bike likes to get on the rear tire and I’d definitely recommend a damper if you want to ride the bike at 60% or more.

      It is riotous in person. If I wasn’t a glutton for punishment… I’d suggest keeping the catalyst in. The decat and slip-ons are so raunchy and outrageous. • @Yeet_Streets
      @Yeet_Streets 4 місяці тому

      It is not wonderful at speeds >80mph, but not torturous. You’re definitely IN the wind. I scoot my butt back in the seat and lean forward to fight the wind. The bike doesn’t like to hover over 6krpm (90mph in 6th with stock gearing). I don’t have too much of a hard time hanging on at speeds over 100, but I don’t stay over 100 for long. As for the suit, I wear slim jeans under it and my work shirt (belt in my backpack). I keep a button-down / canvas shoes in my office and leave my suit in a pile under my desk haha. I would’ve bought a suit hanger but my office is temporary right now and don’t want to drill holes in the Sheetrock. It’s not ideal but it works.
