But in my vilage there are so many women who have taken shelter in their maternal house after being tortured by their husbands and in laws with out filing any divorce cases because their family members are not supportive to run such cases to give them a Good married life. For this they till now live as a burden in their father or brothers house and suffering from social taunts. It is not impossible that some of their husbands have 2nd marriage without giving divorce or alimony. In indian villages there are so many lower educated and poor families where men are not fearing from women's laws and do this types of selfish acts . SO we HAVE TO WORK ON RURAL AREAS

Here's the hard and honest truth of equality in employment in India from an Engineering student. I'm a final year Btech Mechanical Engineering student at VIT Vellore preparing for masters. Since it's placement season going on right now, I am qualified enough, I think, to give an account of what the criteria for recruiting people is for companies in India atm.
1) A lot of companies like Mercedes are hiring ONLY WOMEN for starters. Not even kidding about this one, this was written on their circular.
2) Most other companies are giving female students clear preferential treatment. Mechanical branch has mostly male students and only a few females. The placement scene, however, is that almost 95% of the female students have been placed at 10+ LPA companies while most males with far better grades, resumés and more hands on experience are being rejected, and rudely at that, simply for being men.
From what I can see around me, general category men are the most oppressed class in the nation atm.

Most of the laws imposed are in favor of women and even if a woman gets arrested, they are given less prison time compared to men.

As an engineering student, I myself have witnessed a number of companies, in the name of equality, recruit students based on their gender and not on their talent.

And since you mentioned 1 or 2 % of the men suffer such violence, if I put 2021 cases of rape against criminal cases registered in the same year that would be around 31000 rape cases to 3 million criminal cases, so does that mean woman are safe?. Note that iam not talking about the fees waiver for application form but qualifying marks for examinations such as JEE adv which is much lower than any general candidate. This way, many incompetent female candidates will pave their way into these prestigious colleges causing academic failure later on in life. The problem lies in mentality of the parents itself, which unfortunately cannot be fixed unless they fix it themselves. The other thing people try to argue is that reservation is provided to female candidates to balance the male:female ratio in this universities which sounds absolutely absurd. Why do you want to balance it? Why do you see a candidate as male or female and not just someone who is deserving of the seat. If someone is competent enough, they will make their way into these colleges regardless of their gender i.e if reservation didn't exist.
