Looks like he was alternating with one of the other referees but was giving mouth to mouth whilst the other was compressing. Brain damage occurs if there’s no oxygen going to the brain after a few minutes. But yeah 30 mins of intense focus on bringing him back for sure.

As Dr Mike says "compressions, compressions, compressions". And God put that young firefighter with that team for this reason and most likely many others.

Bravo to Myles! On a side note, how the heck does it take 30 minutes for an ambulance to arrive?

Often people assume that someone is calling 911, when in fact nobody is. It’s important as a first step to designate someone to call 911 and then update them to periodically relay the patient’s condition to the dispatcher. Also, others should have given that guy a break. It’s a lot of work to do compressions, and technique is less important. He could have demonstrated quickly what to do.

30 minutes? I thought the same thing. And no defibrillator anywhere near by? Maybe it was a small town with only a volunteer fire department.

It’s amazing how things had to line up just perfectly for Myles, player on the one team, to save the life of the ref, John. I have a feeling they will both become a part of each other’s family. Congratulations and prayers John continues to heal following his bypass surgery. I love stories like this 🧡🧡

Knowing CPR is so important. You never know when you may need to use it. My job required regular CPR recertification. It can sometimes feel like a nuisance going over the same thing year after year until you actually need it. One day my mom went unresponsive without warning. Muscle memory kicked in the moment my mom passed out. Every sec counts. Thankfully my mom is alive and well today. Please learn CPR. You may be the one to save someone’s life one day.
