Thanks for the video. Gave me confidence to install some upgrades in the first place (just more memory sticks and a hard drive thus far) and after rewatching it I now have a better idea what I need to do if I need to replace the power unit in the future. For now I will probably keep it and just install a lower powered graphics card the system can handle without further upgrades, like GTX 1650.
There's also the A2000 which is basically a professional 3050 6GB card around a 1660TI/1070 in performance. It can probably be easily overclocked it too since there's likely thermal headroom from the lower default wattage.
i almost did this to my old hp prebuilt and glad i didnt, built from scratch instead. but this was still cool to watch. the problem solving was clever. i didnt like that cable extension that gave a small complication to booting down tho
it's actually pretty nice that lenovo had a few options for using standard atx platform parts, like the 2280 format ssd. what is your opinion on that flex psu that you used? i have a SFF case (just under 4L) that requires flex, and i'd like to run something around 600W.
I found a reconditioned 600w Lenovo power supply and installed it. Bought a gtx1650 and a rtx3060 to try them on this unit and another. Every time I put either gpu in the fans spin but I get no display out. Even the motherboard hdmi out doesn’t work. Tried installing drivers for both gpu’s but nvidia app says no devices found. That’s after plugging in either gpu after running the computer before putting the gpu in. What am I missing?
I got this 1 year ago and wasn't doin research on upgrading the psu and adding a new gpu. There werren't any vids like these back then so I was legit doin research on it until I came across this right now lol. Also wouldn't the gtx 1070 work a bit better on this for size wise? Cuz I don't wanna spend too much on the gpu.
Hey, i have a Lenovo ideacentre T540-15AMA G , with stock internals, 210W stock PSU. I already bought single fan RTX 3060 waiting to be shipped. It officialy supports maximum 310W lenovo PSU. WIll it be enough for 3060, since there will be an increase of 100w GPU power and 100w PSU? Thank you
Hey, i have a little update. I found that my stock PSU is not 210, but 310W, so I tried putting RTX 3060, it runs perfectly, for example cyberpunk on ultra ray tracing graphics 1080p. Crazy how 310w is enough
@PokerFaZe I measured them, and all of them are 80mm.I found some fans to buy:be quiet, arctic, or noctua. But I still have a problem, the rubber screws that hold the fan in place. How do I take it out? Yesterday I tried to take one out but it's imposibile I think I have to cut them
hey i wanted to ask since i have a ideacentre 510 pc as well and i wanna upgrade the psu but you used a 10 to 24 pin adapter can i do the same and just use less of the 24 pins to ensure i dont fry the motherboard
Nice video but i have a question. I have the same pc and i want psu that fit in the case but the one that you suggest i cant find it available and i wonder if i could use the Seasonic Focus SGX 650W one instead
So if i get the hp oem 3060 gpu i won’t have to use the 90 degree extension cable or have to saw the Case holder chassis thing? I will just have to install PSU and the new gpu and all will be good?
Hi, I'm using lenovo ideacentre gaming 5 14iob6, my psu is 310 watt, wanna upgrade psu but didn’t find anything from official site. Do you have any recommendations? I wanna use 3060 instead of 1660 super but not sure if 310watt psu is enough for it.
hello i want to replace my 1660 super with a 3060 and i think i have to replace the Power supply for this. Will it be possible with this case and motherboard?
Looks like there's enough width in the case for a SFX power supply which often includes a power switch and could be more affordable than the Silverstone 500W TFX PSU. Just need to cut out a wider hole in the back of the case I guess 😅
- You can buy an extra 4pin onboard cable on eBay ebay.us/MjQnWD - I am not sure what SSD form factor you bought, but if you bought the M.2 SATA SSD, you can use this to convert it to 2.5" SSD: amzn.to/3sAxOIp
I think you would need to replace the motherboard in order to use other cpu's. Because the computer has a bit of an older motherboard so the more popular ones wouldn't be able to support the motherboard unless you upgrade its bios if its possible.
No dislike! Bro can I take the motherboard with the CPU and transfer it to a larger ATX case so I can add a new PSU and graphics card? If it can be possible, what type of pins/cable will I need and what type of case would u recommend? Tx for the videos!
Hey man, you comment was hidden by UA-cam again. You can't use the motherboard in other cases because it is not standard. The best you can do is buying an AMD board and install the CPU there.
@@PokerFaZe kk thanks bro! So I will take the CPU from this PC and build a new PC with a new motherboard, PSU, GPU, RAM etc. But can I also replace the CPU on my current PC (the one in this video) with another AMD CPU? I don't know why UA-cam is hiding my comments hahahah
I replaced the Ryzen 5 4600G with my Ryzen 7 3700X. It works!
Cool bro

Thank you for the video.
The 10pin power baffled me when I tried to move the mobo to bigger case.

Has the adapter from psu to motherboard worked well without problems? I am just asking, because i am also in a need for upgrade.
Yes, just need to unplug or use the cable with a switch to turn off the fans after powering off the pc
@@PokerFaZecan u please make a video on your advise? 🙏
I waited for this video! Thanks bro!
This video was excellent. Perfect editing and the choice of music was super!
Thank you
Nice video, thank you. It's a pity we don't have a retail >450W TFX power supplies with ATX12VO standard.

what is your opinion on that flex psu that you used? i have a SFF case (just under 4L) that requires flex, and i'd like to run something around 600W.
It is currently the best option for cases that use flex psu. Well-known and efficient.
Hi i have a question about the power supply : what is the name of the original power supply i couldn't find it on the internet
shit, my lenovo has 2280mm ssd and the plastic piece is touching the metal so I can't press the plastic piece wtf
Does your 24 pin to 10 pin connector get hot when it's only plugged into those 20 pins?
you use 20 pin to 10 pin or 20 pin only to 10 pin?

How did you get it to plug into the 10 + 4 pin mother board? Just asking trying to upgrade same computer for my daughter.
Never mind I finished the video see the adapter lol sorry

about the 24 to 10 pin issue, can I turn off the switch from the avr instead? And will it damage some components even if I turn it off from the psu?
Im using lenovo psu and non lenovo motherboard, I need a psu adapter
Can i upgrade this proprietary power supply with cooler master mwe 450 watts power supply???

What is the exact make and model of the power supply you used? I have the exact same system and want to make sure I get the right psu. Thanks
It is the Enhance 7660B 600W. I put it in the description.

What's the size for the noctua fans? And if I can use a noctua fan to change the original cpu fan?
The back and front fans are 80mm. I am unsure on the CPU cooler, could be 60mm

Do you think the 24 pin to 10 pin adapter would work with the lenovo ideacentre 720 18pr? It looks like it has the exact same motherboard.
It should work

i have a intel i7-9700 also
Hi, thanks for this video, I want to add a gpu too.
How long is the case, is it possible to install a 23.5cm long gpu?
I could install this card, you can check here

what type of gpu would work in this pc without cutting it?
As long as the GPU shroud is not taller than its bracket, you don't need to cut ua-cam.com/video/A3MwOU8j2FI/v-deo.html

i have the IdeaCentre G5-14IMB05 would i be able to upgrade the psu like yours for future upgrades
You can, just make sure to have all the parts especially the Flex to SFX bracket.
@@PokerFaZe ok thanks
these models seem to be quite similar so i hope to get a similar psu
hi there, can i add a sata ssd into this computer? I saw there is an additional 4 pin onboard sata power can I ask where can i buy this cable ??
I am asking this because I wanted to add on additional drive and I bought the wrong sata ssd.
- You can buy an extra 4pin onboard cable on eBay ebay.us/MjQnWD
- I am not sure what SSD form factor you bought, but if you bought the M.2 SATA SSD, you can use this to convert it to 2.5" SSD: amzn.to/3sAxOIp
If I just add a gpu without external power will it work, Such as the rx 6400
Then you don't need a new PSU, it works as long as it fits the case
will it work if i add a stick of crucial 3200mhz instead of sk hynix ram because its too expansive and hard to come by
As long as it does not XMP profile, it should work
The first thing I did was replace that crappy CPU heatsink and also two case fans.
Can the cpu be upgrade to ryzen 7 3000 ?
I don't think you can use any other Ryzen chips except 4300G, 4600G, and 4700G
I think you would need to replace the motherboard in order to use other cpu's. Because the computer has a bit of an older motherboard so the more popular ones wouldn't be able to support the motherboard unless you upgrade its bios if its possible.
Is the CPU mounting standard on this system? Do you think it would be possible to mount an NH-U9S or L9x65?
It is Intel standard, U9S is too tall, but L9x65 maybe possible. I never try it so don't take my word :D
Imo seems like too much for for my PC.
Plus it's a 3400g so CPU even lacking
I upgraded the CPU to my used 3700x and sold the 4600g, better.
With all these upgrades, I'd just build a whole new pc
Edit: especially with the CPU and GPU fans not turning off, that's just terrible lol.
Agree, just happened to have a PSU that no one buys from me so I think it was a good chance to play around with it.
apparently the silverstone power supplt was very loud anyway, so i will not buy it
