They are all priced about the same. They are perform similar. Just buy the one you like. Any modern day car isn't gonna go and go like that old 94 accord you had.
I have loved cars for 12+ years now, I feel Doug so much when he says, such a heavy burden would be lifted off of me if I didn't like cars. I could buy a Corolla, a Prius, h*ll, I'd gladly buy a Corolla Cross or RAV4 and be happy forever with a car I can do everything in my life with. Instead I am here trying to make up my mind if my favorite daily driver is an Aston Martin Vanquish which is INCREDIBLY good looking, a Lamborghini Urus which isn't as good looking and it's an SUV but it's more exciting or a brand new Bentley Continental GT (like the blue one behind Doug in this video) which isn't as good looking as the Aston nor as practical as the Urus, but is the most comfortable, most relaxing, most unbelievable car. Yet none of it matters because I'll never be able to afford either of the three. 🤡 So I'll just take the most special car that I can afford, probably a Mazda 3 Sedan for all I know. having to charge a fucking car all the time and worrying about charging stations and waiting there for 30+ minutes to "fill up" sucks imo. but that is just my preference.
I average about 98 SECONDS per week charging my car. Imagine pulling into your garage and handing your keys to your own private valet who takes it to the nearest gas station and fills it up for you. Then you have a full tank every morning. He even pre-heats it or pre-cools it for you. He does the oil change appointments too. That is what having an electric car is like.

@Johnnygga no exhaust note means I can floor it at the light and the cop on the corner won't even turn his head to look. It's like invisibility superpower. And unless you spent at least 3x the $, you are going to be in my dust everywhere. In the rare case that I don't charge at home, I just plan my charge during lunch or a work meeting, so long charge time is irrelevant. The car is usually ready for me long before I'm ready to drive again. Actually stopwatch your average fill up from the time you deviate from your route to the time you're back on your route and I bet it takes longer than 5 minutes. Many people even drive out of their way a little bit to go to the cheaper gas station. Imagine settling for a worse performing car just because you like a low rumble because you miss your daddy's deep voice And your exhaust makes you feel like a real man for a few seconds. By the way, I have owned and lived with many types of ICE cars, So I know what I'm talking about. You have never lived with an electric car as your daily driver, So you don't know what you're talking about. Right now I have both, and I choose the electric almost every time.

"Why aren't people buying convertibles?"
Because they're just bad sedans and coupes with a roof that doesn't block the sound, isn't safe, and breaks. Like some guy said on UA-cam, those 5 or 6 days a year when the weather is perfect and you want to put the top down, just ride a motorcycle instead. It's better. The rest of the time, when you're driving a car, drive one that has a roof.
5 days a year is key. I live in California and drive top down 90% of the time. I love it and I am grateful for the experience, but I get the broader picture.
I got a Y, and I don’t miss gas stations or my old mechanic one bit.
@@cpolyalum let’s see how that goes when you’re nearing 75k plus miles once the honeymoon stage is over, the weather changes and the battery isn’t working as before. Then come back and let’s have a conversation
@@josearias2671 I've been driving Teslas for 9+ years and have driven them cross country. Haven't had any issues over 75k miles and I've just changed air filters, tires, and wiper fluid.
Way less of a pain than my previous ICE cars...oil changes, valve adjustments, coolant hoses, timing chains, MAF sensors, cat failures, oil pump failures, turbo hoses. And that's really just related to engine.
@@josearias2671 The battery has a 120K mile warranty and these cars are very reliable, and really good to drive.
@@josearias2671 Not an issue if you're leasing. And with them clearing out current Y inventory right now, the incentives are good enough to lease them for a fraction of what they were before. You return it at the end of lease when there's some battery degradation, and even then its not that much degradation.
@ oh for sure. That’s the way to go. You won’t have to deal with it once it goes downhill
I traded my Camaro for a Mazda CX-30, which I still own. I was sick of all the compromises (especially headroom and being able to see out of my car). I don't regret it for a second. The CX-30 does everything well, and it's insanely easy to drive and park anywhere. I'd love to have a sports car for sunny Sundays in the summer, and some day I may have one. But for everyday use, a normal car is where it's at. And less expensive cars cost very little to keep on the road.
Yea I test drove a Camaro for 3 minutes and turned around worst interior situation worst
Blind spots ever anyone who buys those are more interests in looking cool then the actual experience.
The panoramic roof obliterated convertibles
Agreed
2024 Lexus ES 300h Luxury. Bought it as a dealer loaner with 10k miles. L-Certified until 2029 because it was a loaner. Absolute dream car
Used Prius or a Mazda SUV Hybrid
Ew no. SUVs suck, and there's no reason to get an SUV hybrid especially when an SUV sedan can carry the same number of people with far greater efficiency
@@gmansplitdo you never need the added practicality of folding down rear seats for all of that cargo space? I do it for camping, sleeping in my car, going and mowing lawns, going snowboarding, moving tons of items when I move, etc etc. all things sedans can't do. Pretty worth it for giving up just a couple of Mpg's
@@gmansplitSUV sedan? What is that exactly?
And I can tell you right now that SUVs have more benefits over a sedan than just being larger. You have more space to store things, you can carry more people than you can in a sedan (an SUV, not a crossover), and with a hybrid SUV especially, you can do all that while being almost as efficient as a car. I’m not an SUV fan myself, but I know that they have their purposes
I have had many cars. Nice cars and cheap cars. The Toyota Prius is by far the most economical car to own by far. They run forever with little maintenance and low fuel cost
Did Doug get that blue Bentley? Looks great.
I have a 2015 Lexus CT200h - most reliable, luxury touch. Hybrid, most low-cost repair with parts and labor. Most parts are readily available. Actually, very quick in Sport mode. Electric torque with 1.8 liter gas engine. Looks very sharp all around. Made in Japan, and it's an awesome daily driver.
Love my 2011 unfortunately head gasket issues are common due to a design flaw with this engine. Luckily for you it was solved after the 2014 models 👍🏾
@onlyreflex8661 true. I heard about that too. Plus , I like the front grill change that started on the 2014 model.
@@epicsupergeneration8017 Really love the newer ones. This car is definitely at the top of the list for a daily driver. but For the price of the newer ones I would like a little more space and a little more power.
The new Civic hybrid is easily one of the best all-around cars right now and has the potential to be a really impressive sleeper.
What model and color of blue Bentley is behind them?
Continental GT in Kingfisher color
The guy in the jacket seems to think everyone is exactly like him. 😂 Fun episode though.
I owned a 2010 Prius for 12 yrs. I didn't put one dime into it for anything besides normal maintenance. Still got 47mpg at 160K miles. Just loved that car. Traded it in for an X1 and that is more fun to drive, but the Prius was just so economical and reliable. The new Prius is definitely one of the cars on my list, for my next car.
Yeah no spare tire though
2:43 you can afford non normal cars so you should get the fun ones !
As an automotive tech who's been turning wrenches for 15 years Doug is spot on. They are all about the same. They'll break in the same ways. They'll cost about the same too fix. They are all priced about the same. They are perform similar. Just buy the one you like. Any modern day car isn't gonna go and go like that old 94 accord you had.
Love my CRV touring. More refined than the RAV4 and I am generally a Toyota guy.
That turbo long term cant last vs a Rav

Graham should get a new Prius as his next daily
"I'd be so happy if I didn't love what I love" curious how that works.
But yeah, I feel this man.
I still love my 2002 manual Subaru Impreza WRX wagon with turbo. Checks all the boxes for me year in and year out. 24 years of enjoyment.
having to charge a fucking car all the time and worrying about charging stations and waiting there for 30+ minutes to "fill up" sucks imo. but that is just my preference.
EVs really seem like a great car for people who don’t have a lot going on lol
I average about 98 SECONDS per week charging my car.
Imagine pulling into your garage and handing your keys to your own private valet who takes it to the nearest gas station and fills it up for you. Then you have a full tank every morning. He even pre-heats it or pre-cools it for you. He does the oil change appointments too.
That is what having an electric car is like.
@@CleverAccountName303 but all that and no exhaust note, no 5 minute fill ups for an instant 300+ miles, you get a battery hit in cold climates, you’re locked by with software, you can’t modify anything, ugly exterior looks
No thanks.
This
@Johnnygga no exhaust note means I can floor it at the light and the cop on the corner won't even turn his head to look.
@Johnnygga all new cars have too much software, low repairability, and similar looks. That has nothing to do with drivetrain.
As soon as they say: Tesla!!! I moved on!!! Is not for everyone and seriously people buys them for the wrong reasons!!!!
I’ve always had a great luck with Honda, currently driving a 2019 Honda hatchback, I would recommend getting a natural aspirated one though
RAV4 and CRV are not basic. Until recently, they offered more features than a Y.
What features are those? If anything the Y has many features those two don't.
@ Ventilated seats, auto pano roof that ventilates/opens and has a sun shade, 360 camera view. Keyword, until recently. To date, other than drive train and autonomous driving aides, the RAV4 and CR-V are on par. Cringe light shows and fart noises are not features….
lol who cares, all these cars are basically the same. None of these “differentiated” features make much of a difference
@@revl6151 FSD makes a pretty big difference

oh the solara convertible. oh the 90s and early 2000s. good times.
I just bought a Porsche convertible. Always wanted a cabriolet. I love driving with the top down. Plenty of sunny days here in So Cal.
I live in the Midwest and drive 400 miles a week to work. I see exactly one Model Y each day.
“I live in the Midwest” . Think I found the reason for that.
I have a 2013 Prius never regretted it 100%reliable still any gas mileage under 40 I consider bad no battery degradation that I have experienced 🎉
Bro said “there’s basically no bad cars anymore ” Then proceeds to only name Toyota, Honda and Mazda models😂
In a CR-V and RAV4 I can't fully stretch my legs and my driving position is not fully comfortable. Goes for all japanese or korean cars that I've tried. I'm 6.2".
I'm the same height and have this same issue. I have had pretty good luck with the seat all the way back, as low as it will go, and the back reclined a bit.
Please, what is the car next to the blue Bentley?
2001 gmc sierra sle. It has the LM7 and the original motor in mine has 290k and ive only done minimal maintenance buf she still turns right over first try
I've said many times that there really aren't bad cars. It comes down to what you like.
The more important question is: How did this Doug Guy become recognized as a someone who is considered an automobile expert?
He has his UA-cam channel. I would much rather see Jason cammisa invited though.
Over the last five years UA-cam “influencers” seem to have a halo effect around them….
We like to believe good stories, their programmes are “good stories”. Thus they are imbued with knowledge by association….
Worked in the car industry his whole life, starting at porsche I think, was a car journalist before making the switch to youtube, runs his own car auction company. He knows whats going on in the industry basically.
YOU SAID IT MAN.
imagine making a living pointing out the badging and chrome accents on a car. Then imagine the type of shitheads out there who idolizes cars as more than transportation from A to B. Millions of dollars in overpriced cars, trucks, with high interest rates, poor reliability, excessive insurance, depreciation, mods, etc. This is America. 30K mobile homes and $80k F250 parked on the lawn. Incredible waste of wealth making businesses millions while these people eat cat food on crackers, get foreclosed on, etc. US is a collection of incredibly stupid people all trying to look wealthy on the road to the poor house and gov't assistance. Remember folks, there is no ROI on impressing people. Ok, now back to my HYSA which affords me the opportunity to enjoy lots of things that are way more important than a depreciating liability.
Ford maverick hybrid. Enough truck bed for most people, great fuel economy, seats 4-5 reasonably priced.
How about an original Ford Maverick 2-door from the 1970s? Now THAT was a car! 😂
Omg Doug has so much truth in this segment. Model Y being a mostly perfect daily was my assessment of it when we initially got our old lease especially if the charging could be done at home. Secondly if I didn’t like cars how much easier life would be that I could just roll in a Prius and it’s all good 😂
Best Car To Buy: My 1994 Honda Accord with eBay turbo kit. Parts are on Amazon, you can fix it yourself and no repo man! 😅😅😅
Had a chance to drive my inlaws Model Y for a whole day. The harshest car I ever driven, entire body sore for a few days, safe to say Tesla is off of my EV shopping list.
The new one is probably going to be a lot better.
One hundred percent agree. The model 3 rides a lot smoother. The others do as well. Really dislike how the model Y drives.
100% agree but the Model S and X has air suspension. Also the Model 3 is smoother. I owned a model Y performance before I got rid of it and I think I could feel the paint on the road when changing lanes lol.
Agree, horrible

With Adaxum’s strong fundamentals, it’s only a matter of time before ADX becomes a household name.
Doug the type of guy to slowly turn into Jay Leno
Except that his own industry doesn’t hate him for being a douche.
Ev’s don’t work as well in winter.
Most convertibles have more flex then the coupe version, I can't imagine adding a battery to that equation and trying to control the add weight.
CX5 2018...zero problems
Why not a Subaru Outback XT or Forester? We have a Crosstrek Sport and waiting for Forester Hybrid to come out in April.
GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado with a 5.3L v8 is one of the cheapest vehicles to maintain you’ll ever see.
Can't say the same for fuel.
Mazda CX-5 is an excellent all arounder
I understand the model y recommendation, but unless you factor in the added expense and headache of installing a home charge system, that is not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison to other cars. A lot of people live outside of a metropolitan area with tons of charging stations available. If you have a longer commute and don't have a ton of stations around you, then you are not going to have as user-friendly experience without a home charging station and they are not exactly cheap
When will Doug review the CRV?

Holding back from what?
His business is to be in cars and to be knowledgeable about them. It would be counterproductive for him to hold back
@@bavnathan7518 That's exactly true, but I'm sure he had the same compulsion before he was successful. Same thing keeping so many people broke - dudes living in some shitty apartment and driving an M2.

2:55 Aerodynamics. Convertibles, with the top down, are less slippery.
I was talking to my investment coach. Retiring. I wanted to convert my defined benefit retirement to a cash out. She said, “Well. I’ve had clients that had their kids run into problems and they felt compelled. And what if you’re not disciplined.” As far as discipline I said, “Well. I drive a 2014 Chevy Volt with 86K miles. It’s not like I spend money like crazy.”
24 CX5 owner love it and love its track record for reliability n longevity. Not into cars so I’ll drive it to the ground. Had a cooper b4 and it cost 3k every time it needs fixing.
"Why not EV convertables?" Additional issue; they're heavy, the extra engineering required for the rollover protection.
Honda accord mine is 20 years old nearly 300k still drives and looks near brand new
Hard to love convertibles when you can barely trust people in a major city. Imagine how much you can be messed with stopped at a light with your convertible.
Never buying a toyota again! I went to buy a certified pre-owned 2022 Corolla Cross with 18k miles on it for my mom, and 2 days later it started making a whining noise.. Took it in, the dealer ignored my calls for 3 days, then said they are gonna replace the entire transmission and it will take another 3 days... I said absolutely not, cancelled the transaction got my money back.. Who would have thought that a Toyota's auto transmission would go bad after 18k miles... Embarrassing... Toyota's quality has drastically went down...
I think I'm quoting Chris Harris when I say convertibles just scream too scared to ride a motorbike.
That’s me. I honestly don’t know how people can ride motorcycles in any decently sized city. I surprised there aren’t more fatalities.
As someone who rides motorcycles constantly during the summer, me and the people I meet who ride all have serious sensation seeking personalities with high risk tolerance. We all own guns, we all mostly agree we would jump out of an airplane. We all also tend to be fairly disagreeable. It’s like a genetic makeup lol
my convertible has 4 seats though, even the back especially with the top down fits adults, so if im with friends driving around town its amazing. even with the top up, its manageable, especially if its girls in the back then it isnt an issue at all. tons of fun to drive, music blasting, wind blowing, ambient lights if its night, its a great vibe
Exactly...convertibles arent the most practical but are alot of fun especially at night and on nice summer and fall days. I am too smart to drive a motorcycle and have a baby daughter depending on me but dont fault others for enjoying them. But I'll take an Audi BMW or Benz convertible everyday of the week especially with a good V6 or V8.@@lolickypeepee23xdd6
I had to google what a model y is lol
People love convertibles, or morelikely, people love to see convertibles. Like 911, GTC, Z4.. but with current economy you no longer can afford having a toy car, so there is no need for budget convertibles. And people had to buy SUVs as one size fits all
If you need a pickup (for fun, off road or work - but depends the work to be fair) it’s the Rivian R1T. Seriously the best truck I’ve ever owned and it’s not even close. I also have a Model Y… my final is an old Audi TT convertible weekend car. And yes, I miss them.
Subaru's are great too! I bought mine 2 years used, and 5 years later, its the same value with double the miles on it😂
I recently bought a 2025 Honda Pilot EX-L because I am starting a family and the only reason I didn't get a CRV is because I wanted more seats (8 seater vs 5)
I checked what my car insurance would be for a Model Y. Much higher than a Toyota or Honda.
