Patrick, I’m glad you have kept this video up. I wasn’t getting any hot water with the Alde. Lowered the front and back of the trailer. Got a bubble out of the glycol tube under the sink. Worked like a charm.
Short & Sweet. This is an EXCELLENT how-to & may be the BEST/most informative 5 minute how-to on youtube.
Thank you!
These Take 5 videos contain a wealth of information. Thanks!
This video saved me yesterday. Now I know to power down my Alde before unplugging from shore power otherwise I’ll be replacing another fuse. Thanks so much for your simple explanation.
stevekoozer We are so glad this helped!
This is so good to know!! We used our Alde heat for the first time last weekend. It kept us toasty warm!! Glad we didn't have any issues but will know now what to do if we ever do! Thank you Patrick. Very helpful video!!!
Thanks Ann!! Tell Gary and Petey we said hello!
Great video Patrick. Great information. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the Alde System.
Thank you! I am just learning as I go on it.
Great five minutes as always. Always carry spare fuses for all your systems.
You can never have too many spare fuses.
Episode 12 of "Take 5 Minutes & Troubleshoot Your T@b!" ...I'm starting to realize there's more to camping than just packing up food and clothes, lol!
Thanks again!
Safe travels and see you #ondowntheroad 💜
LOL! It is much more complicated than the good ole tenting days!
Great videos! We can get hot water but can’t get heat in the camper to work. Manuals send us in circles. Any advice of what to try? Your time and advice is appreciated!
Thank you! I feel great that I learned to change the fuse - and will do my best to remember to turn it off
Great videos Patrick - it was great to see you got the pellet smoker. We have one (different brand) and we love it. Has made BBQ on the weekends so much easier and tasty. The wife finally approved after several months of me bringing in good eats each weekend. Hope y'all are doing well
I can't believe I didn't buy a pellet smoker years ago. The meat came out perfect and it was so easy.
Blew two fuses and your video guided the way:)
I am glad it was helpful to you!
Thank you for the video and the Alde system. I will inquire about some extra fuses. Thank you again,
Great video Patrick. Well done.
As usual, very helpful and interesting information. Thanks!!!!!!
You just gained another subscriber, thanks for the info!
Welcome to our channel Kasie! We are glad to have you here!
That's a two-fer; fuses and high-point drain, that helped immensely! Thanks for sharing the wisdom. This camper has systems and components; may have to rename her The "Space" Station!
Your videos are great and very helpful. I am having an issue getting heat this morning. The glycol line coming out of the bottom of the glycol tank has nothing in it, but there is plenty of glycol in the tank. Should I be seeing it in the lines?
That is odd....there should be Glycol in the line....I wonder if. you have an air pocket in the line. One trick to get the air out of a line is to make sure your stabilizers are up and then using the jack stand, crack the trailer as high as it will go and wait a minute then crank it as low as it will go and wait a minute and then continue to do this 3-4 times. That sometimes will help to "burp" the system.
Travels with Delaney thank you for the quick response. When I saw that in the video I was wondering if that’s what I needed to do. First we will need to un-stake and adjust the walker tent that’s attached so that it will move with the trailer 😁 Thank you so much for your help. I will let you know if that resolves the problem!
Funny you should do this video now! I was trying to change out the two fuses this past weekend and dropped the green holder down behind the ALDE system. When you do that you can never get it back. 😒. Thank goodness for Elsie at NuCamp. I’ve ordered a replacement fuse holder plus two extras as well as the fuses. Hope to never do that again!!
That's good to know that we can get those from NuCamp.
i did that now i have a cardboard piece below the fuses to block the hole.
This is great. Have you got any advice for a control panel not switching on? Only had 2 trips in our caravan and cloth times had problems getting the control panel to switch on. Tried various sequences until eventually it came to life but have been unable to troubleshoot the issue. Once it came in are were fine but it was hours are arriving on site so no hot water until then.
I do not. I have it had that issue before
Love your videos...so practical.. I went from winter mode to 'camping mode' AFTER I had hooked up to a faucet at the campsite. The Alde valve would spew out water and make a hissing sound every 10 seconds or so. I can't find out why this happened. I had done the winter blow out with a compressor method. What makes this valve go from closed to open and spilling water in this case?
That is a good question that I am not sure of. I would suggest calling NuCamp and asking for Creed. He is tech specialist and may know what caused that to happen.
Great info. Thanks. Did you happen to notice the size of that fuse?
I didn't but I can check and let you know.
I just checked and our manual for the Alde 3010 shows both fuses are 3.15 Amps.
Thank you for providing another valuable video. I just checked your winterization videos and don't see anything about keeping the Alde glycol from freezing. Does the Alde not need any specific maintenance for winter? Thanks, again.
Other than draining the water heater, my understanding is there is nothing else that needs to be done. Because the glycol is mixed with water, it has a low freeze point (like -45).
@@TravelswithDelaney it is basically the same as the anti-freeze in a vehicle.
I used my alde on my 400 a few weeks ago and all was good. Drained the system and plugged in to shore power to keep it warm. Checked the trailer periodicaly and it was ok. Then one day i noticed the glycol overflow was empty and saw what appeared to be glycol on the driveway. Dont see any obvious hose issues or fluid inside the trailer. Any thoughts on this sould be helpful. Thanks!
You will probably want to reach out to Creed at NuCamp. There is a pressure relief valve on the Alde system and most likely that is why there was glycol on the ground. I have heard that those valves can go bad.
Patrick- you should do videos for a living! Thanks again for the knowledge!! Devo💋
Thank you! My videos are far from being professional quality. I just try to share the information that I would want to try and help everyone else out.
My aldi furnace worked amazing all winter, one night I work up what sounded like knocking, so my first instinct was turn the system off. It wasn’t low on fluid, but refilled to minimum. Worked great a few days- checked the fluid for safety and fluid was gone…. Opened all the panels and couldn’t find any liquid. Refilled again, and it was gone the next day…. Where did it go? And how can I fix it? Thanks
You might have a cracked glycol tank. I’d start by feeling and looking around that tank. We had a cracked one once. If that is not it, are you running it when it runs out? There is a safety valve that can go bad and then it will come out a line under your trailer. See if there is any on the ground under the trailer. Those are my two thoughts on it.
Thanks for this video. It solved my issue!!
I am glad it was able to help you out.
Thanks so much. Have found all your videos helpful and to the point. I wonder if you can tell me how to find a new fuse. Is there a measurement? Can I find them at brick and mortar stores? What kind?
We actually picked up some extra fuses at uCamp last year. The Alde rep was there and handing them out. Luckily I have not had to replace any to this point.
@@TravelswithDelaney Turns out that the little marking on the green holder is telling you that the fuse is a 5x20 fuse. That is, its 5mmx20mm and you can get them at Home Depot. Best to order online or confirm in store inventory before going in. (I always say this with things that I find at Home Depot, wish local hardware stores had more inventory, but I went to three or four and none even knew what they were looking at.)
Hi, Patrick, you have been an invaluable resource to us since we bought our Tab 400 two years ago. Unfortunately, we have not been able to troubleshoot our Alde with local RV service and Nucamp (by phone) about a repeated gas failure when we try to use our Alde heater above 5,000 feet in 50 degree weather or colder when boondocking. Any insights?
Lisa Moretti Hi Lisa! What year is your 400? My first thought is you don’t have the high altitude kit on the Alde. We didn’t either last summer. Now ours worked but it sounded like a freight train. We had them add the high altitude kit which is a pressure regulator for propane at high altitudes. I know the 2017, 2018 and maybe even some early 2018’s did not come with the high altitude kit. If yours is newer, then that kit may be on yours and it may be not working causing the problem. I hope that helps at least as a starting point.
Travels with Delaney Hi Patrick, yes new camp had our local RV service install the high-altitude kit-And no change, but there is some idea that maybe it wasn’t installed correctly. I did see a glycol leak last fall.
I blew a fuse watching this video..... just kidding; Great info as usual..Thank you Patrick!
That's a good one! LOL
Just bought a 2021 TaB 400. From your experience does the Alde system make a noise when on propane? I am getting an annoying noise when the system is running on gas. Suggestions?
I do not remember any noise from the Alde other than hearing the pump a little. What altitude are you using it at? We did notice some when were above 5000’ elevation
Burr cold night last night woke up to overheat red warning🥴 guess that means there’s an air bubble in our glycol system so driving down a bumpy road might fix that?
I usually just crank the trailer as high as it will go and then lower it back down as low as it will go. Repeat that about 3 times and it will usually get the air out of the line. The bumpy road might work too! LOL
Great video gonna save a lot of people large amounts of money *********************
Thank you! Tipping the caravan up and down MAY have fixed my damn Alde water heater! Lol. But it's pretended to be fixed before so... 😁
Where do you purchase the glycol from? Also, is it ok to travel with the system running off the propane to keep the trailer warm, I assume not but want to ask.
I purchased mine right at the NuCamp Factory when I was there in December. You can order it from an NuCamp dealer. What I like about getting it from an authorized dealer (ie NuCamp) is it comes premixed ready to go into your Alde tank. I would not recommend trying to run it going down the road. First is the issue with having a lit flame from the propane and the bouncing of the trailer may cause your glycol lines to get air pockets in them while it is trying to circulate the glycol.
I have looked at Walmart and some farm supply stores to no avail. I think it’s mail order (aka online) or an RV store, but call first.
Patrick, What was the Amp on the Fuse?
3.15amp
Patrick you should be on Nucamps payroll LOL
LOL! I don't know about that.
I turned on my Alde controller while on battery power. Propane turned on. Controller lights up well but the words are dim. Then going to menu, the words are too dim to push. I’ve tried this both on battery alone and with the car connected and running. It seems power is available but I can’t get the heat to push on. All symbols and words are very dim. What’s up?
Love your channel, got a question....I’ve got power to my Alde (TAB 400) and the pump is running continuously but heat is not circulating beyond a few inches of the piping near the boiler unit, I’ve checked the air purge valve and it seems to be clear but still can or get the fluid to circulate through the plumbing....I suspect airlock but have not been able to clear it thus far, water heater works fine. Any ideas? Any other valves, etc. That could be blocking the circulation?
Thanks, keep the TAB instructionals coming, Love them!
Did you try cranking the trailer up and down to see if that helped to get it flowing?
Hi, yes I’ve tried that several times with the system on and off, pump runs and gets up to temperature but does not circulate the fluid beyond an inch or two..... I,m at a loss to solve this issue. :-(
Mark French reach out to Spencer Tangeman at Alde. He is a service technician that may be able to assist. 1-877-860-9814 or service@alde.us We met Spencer at uCamp18! and he is very knowledgeable and willing to help.
Hi guys, I got this issue sorted and thought you may want the info. The Alde plumbing loops upward in the wet bath much higher than any other high points in the T@B 400 and is hidden behind an aluminum cover and vent on the shower head side. If you remove the top vented panel cover you will reveal a high point bleed port, a little turn by hand and I was able to remove the air that was trapped in the loop. Additionally, I turned up the Alde pump from 1 to 3 and voila I have heat! Heat is nice this time of year on the island of Newfoundland, Canada out in the North Atlantic! Hope you find this info useful.
Mark French I’m so glad to hear you got it working. Thanks for sharing that info as it may come in handy in the future for us or others.
I have not been a subscriber very long, but I enjoy your videos tremendously. I was just wondering where you called home, other than you trailer?
We live in Northeast Indiana in a split log home that we call Tall Pine Lodge.
I’ve noticed the indoor shots and your house is beautiful! I live in Kennesaw, GA, about 25-30 miles NW of Atlanta. Once again, I love your videos and tips and of course Truman. Have a good safe week on the road!
We go through Kennesaw every time we go to Florida.
Thanks for the videos super helpful and reading the little manual was not helpful. Yay!
Thank you! Glad they helped.
Do I need water in the system in order to heat the trailer
Great advice thanks
Thanks Scott!
Does the gold piece in the unit get really hot?
Barb Torio I honestly don’t know. It’s located under the bed so I’ve never touched it
@@TravelswithDelaney There was an extreme wave of warm air around the cushions...lead me to move cushions and found the entire unit was very hot to touch. I did speak to Spencer from Alde....he has never received a notice that cushions had burned....
Thank you for all of your Take 5 videos....from a newbie!
Barb
Some yellow fluid came out the exhaust under the trailer is that the glycol in which case how do I get that fixed
If its yellow, most likely its Glycol. Check your glycol tank to make sure you still are above the minimum level. There is a release valve on the system that will release glycol if there is too much pressure. That may be what happened.
Nowhere in the instructions does it show that the glycol holder is separate and installed in the wall behind the toilet . Once that is located I needed a premixed glycol with a flex hose, flashlight and a mirror to fill the glycol.I realize that most tabs don't have a toilet but i needs to be higher to allow a gravity feed .
Excellent!
I think we all owe you some money. All the information you have given us would be a lot of out of pocket cash if we have had to go to a dealer for repairs. Thank you for making camping easier when problems arrive.
Thank you Glenn! I just try to share where I can to help out others.
What is the outside Alde Bypass valve for?
That is to shut off the water from the water heater. You want to bypass before you winterize so that you don't waste antifreeze going into the water heater. Bypass it and then just us the drain valve to drain the water heater.
Travels with Delaney, Thank you.
Can the hear the alde system turn on n off during the night under your pillow?
William Stillwaugh I’ve never noticed it. We do sometimes hear a gurgling sound from the glycol but nothing noise wise like you get from a forced air furnace
Turns out the fuses are 5mmx20mm glass quick blow fuses. Online or big box hardware, but not small or franchises le hardware stores. Or of course, if there is one near you, then an RV store that you have called first.
Thank you for the info!
Hi, where do I purchase fuses for the TAB?
I would guess if you take one of the spares to an auto parts store, they should have them.
I just went out and looked at our manual and it says both fuses are 3.15 amps.
NuCamp carries them as well for $4.65 each.
the alde system seems to turn on but not getting any heat or hot water.
Can you hear the glycol "gurgling"? As it heats up, it should make some bubbling noise in the gylcol tank. Have you tried it on both electric and propane? Maybe try just propane and see if you get any error messages on the control panel
@@TravelswithDelaney will do.
i got the heat and hot water working. since i have not used the system in awhile the maintenance alde book stated that i should turn on a hot water valve and drain 3 gallons of water. i did that and then turned on the alde system and it all worked. thanks for your videos. we are truly dummies when it comes to the nuances of a camper.
I am having trouble when I turn on the hot water st the causey no water comes out. Cold work fine
Why it s woorking only with power but not with gass? GASS FAILURE! Thanks!
You rock!
Wave next time you go through and I’ll wave back at you!
