    Our parents needed to teach us how to rest among other things. But since they did not, I love that these ladies chose to take it up and say "because our parents didn't teach us we will teach ourselves how to do it". That's such a compassionate way of approaching the situation for both our parents and ourselves.

    On the point about normalizing deserving good thing, I totally agree. For Christians, we believe God is a good good father and He gives us gifts we don't deserve, never worked for - just because of His Grace. I am currently reading a book called Quiet by Susan Cain and she says that most people are reward sensitive where everything they do is so they can get a reward at the end. In this case, if they get good things out of nowhere, it's hard for them to accept it because they didn't "work" for the reward. Then the opposite is also scary because they might end up staying in toxic situations or jump into risky situations because they are just thinking of the reward at the end without considering the risks involved.

      Aaah i love this,it's super informative and true we've normalized attaching pain and suffering to success/life's rewards.We don't need to always justify deserving good things you just deserve them final! We wont disregard working hard for what you want of course but if it comes to you without to much effort then just take it in and enjoy that period.

    Lets start normalizing:
    1 Accepting that internet addiction is a thing_ many of us use it to cope with or avoid dealing with certain issues
    2. Keeping abusive family members at bay_ block, cut contact, reduce interaction, e.t.c. blood is not thicker than water, and sharing blood with someone doesnt mean they get a pass for being horrible to you
    4. Filling our own cup/ doing something for ourselves_ many of us put kids, spouses, jobs and business first and ourselves last_ make yourself a priority too. You have vacation days at work but like the worker of the year that you are, and because you think work wont go on without you there, you havent used them, meet your friends every once in a while, get a facial, e.t.c. your family and work will benefit from you taking care of yourself and being energized and healthy.
    5. Find ways to make your life easier_ get a washing machine or dishwasher, get a nanny/ housekeeper, get an assistant for your business, if you can afford. There is no oscar award for being overworked and tired. It also isnt a proof of strength or hardwork. Outsource where you can.

You are allowed to have vastly different opinions from people you love and continue loving them outside of the conversation. It doesn't have to be a fight. There doesn't have to be a winner. I second Lydia on the point where we need to normalize being selective about who we parent with. Everything is harder with kids. The partner needs to be exquisite all round so as to raise the kids well. I was part of the one percent with my first kid. The second was pure planning but unfortunately wrong partner! Doing the single parenting all the way.

    I laughed so hard when Muringi said, " we are supposed to do it together. Be in unhappy marriages. Have children and be unhappy and tired". THE WHOLE LOT OF US😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
    It reminded me of a time I was called for a 'meeting' by some female colleagues, who were asking, what I was working so hard for. Why get a masters degree and promotion at work and yet I have no husband or children at 34yrs. I was sooo confused coz they were both in horrible situations and everyone knew about their terrible marriages.

    I think its difficult for people to accept someone living a different way because there is this toxic belief that we should all abide by a template that was created by culture and society. Stepping outside the template is not seen as freedom or normal but as disorder.

    Maybe unpopular opinion: metrosexual is a bs term men felt they had to come up with to be a clean human being without being deemed "gay"/effeminate. Normalize men not having to measure themselves so much to worry about having their manhood questioned because they have a clean house and a full skincare routine (or cry)

    Hello ladies, you look lovely. I was talking to my boyfriend and he said the therapy only works on women and not men! That the average African man can move on well regardless the depression etc.
    What do you think? Is it really true that a black African man doesn't need therapy

    • @tmipodcastke
      @tmipodcastke  10 місяців тому +1

      Not really just like any other self improvement process you have to be intentional and want to learn,unlearn and basically open your mind to it.This notion on African men not needing therapy or help with there issue's is an example of stereotypes we have to move away from.Kwanza if anything they might need it more looking at the recent s**c*de cases affecting our men.So no men need therapy and it works for them the same way it works for us the only difference is women find it easier to open up and talk about it.
